About this ebook

Kurt Carlson gave up the great outdoors for city life while his lover Jake pursued a pharmacology degree. Graduation and a white lab coat will bring status, a great job, and a decent salary. Jake will go from eating ramen in their shoebox apartment to rubbing elbows with handsome doctors. He couldn't possibly still want a ski bum and part-time forest ranger for a partner.

Just when Kurt feels their time is coming to an end, he comes home to something he least expects. And really needs.

This story involves lots of hotness and a lab coat.

P.D. Singer

P.D. Singer lives in Colorado with her slightly bemused husband, one proto-adult, and thirteen pounds of cats. She’s a big believer in research, first-hand if possible, so the reader can be quite certain P.D. has skied down a mountain face-first, been stepped on by rodeo horses, acquired a potato burn or two, and will never, ever, write a novel that includes sky-diving.When not writing, playing her fiddle, or skiing, she can be found with a book in hand.

    ONE CHAPTER OF LIFE

Four years of Denver. Five years with Jake Landon.

Only, Jake made Denver worthwhile. Kurt Carlson wanted out of the city. Not enough snow, not enough space. Too many people, too much traffic. Like now. Kurt sat on his motorbike, idling at yet another stoplight on his way from downtown Denver to the apartment just off 8th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Smelling the exhausts of too many poorly-tuned vehicles and hoping everyone saw his screaming crimson work shirt, because it was too damned hot to wear leathers, even if it was supposed to be spring.

For Jake, and for Jake’s dreams, he’d live in an apartment building with too many units filled with too many neighbors who asked too many questions. As long as he could see the way out, eventually.

Which should be soon. Graduation was right around the corner. His lover stood at the top of his class, even if he’d landed there kicking and screaming. Nope, Kurt hadn’t been willing to let Jake postpone going back to school, because the longer he waited, the longer it would take them to get back to the mountains.

Your fears, your future, and me, Kurt had told Jake four years ago. You can have two of the three. Choose wisely.

Jake had—he’d picked his future and Kurt. Whatever Jake was the most afraid of then, whether it was the competition in the classroom, the coursework of a doctoral level program, or coming out, he’d let it go. Defeated it. Smashed it to smithereens, even.

He’d chosen his future—graduation loomed this weekend, followed by his board exams.

But was he still choosing Kurt?

All that confidence was so fucking sexy—Jake, in dress slacks and a dispensing jacket doing his internship, when even the questions he couldn’t answer immediately got a warm I’ll find out for you.
