About this ebook
It's December, the time of year when there's lights and joy and magic in the air. At least, there would be, if Landon wasn't battling with the memory of the year before. Last year, just two days before Christmas, he lost his husband and was left to look after their ten-year- old son all by himself.
It had been a hard year, for both Landon and his son, James, but when Christmastime comes around again, he realizes that perhaps he isn't prepared for just how hard it is still going to be. When his late husband's brother comes to visit, Landon takes the opportunity to spend some time alone, processing his thoughts and his role in this family unit. But what will happen when his dreams start to leak out into the real world and his husband becomes more than just a memory? When Landon is forced to choose between a life with his son, or the ghost of his lost love, which will prove to be more important to him?
The Lonely Farmer is a tale of romance, heartbreak and joy, as a man discovers that true happiness is being there for your family when they need you the most.

The lights in the square were beautiful. More so than they had ever been, Landon thought, looking at them from a distance as the light rain brought the reds and whites and greens into soft focus.
There were plenty of people around, bustling through the streets, all of them heading towards the city centre. Landon walked against the current, bumping into cheerful-looking families, excitable children and loved-up couples as he went. Dipping into a side road where it was quieter, he dug his hands deep in his pockets to warm them up. The rain was starting to turn to snow.
Taking a moment to enjoy the peace, he could hear the echoing sound of microphone feedback coming from the square, and the mayor’s voice suddenly rose above the noise of the crowd as he tested to see if everyone could hear him. A loud cheer came from the crowd, and he continued with his speech, saying how excited he was, how this was his favourite time of year and what a pleasure it was seeing everyone’s smiling faces and so on and so on.
Landon didn’t know why he had thought this was a good idea. He walked back out onto the street, which was already much quieter now that everyone had hurried to catch the opening of the ceremony. Once the mayor had started, it was never long until the main event began, the reason everyone had gathered there: the unveiling of the town Christmas tree. The mayor knew better than to keep people waiting. After all, the only time this town really came alive was at Christmastime. Taking one last look at the scene at the far end of the street - the families huddled together, the mayor standing in front of the gigantic tree waiting for the moment when the lights would be plugged in, the hundreds of happy people enjoying the Christmas cheer – Landon smiled to himself. No, he wasn’t ready. Not yet. It was time to go home.
He should never have come out in the first place. There was still a lot he had to do tonight before James got back
