Destiny Abernathy could not believe how suddenly the snowstorm had started. The weatherman said the storm was coming, but he hadn’t said it would be coming this fast or this fierce. It didn’t help that there was already snow down on the ground and as she drove up the hill, she needed to be careful. Luckily, for her, she wasn’t too far from the cabin she co-owned with her estranged husband. She’d left several messages for him to let him know she was going to be up to the cabin, so there wouldn’t be any issues with her being there.

He hadn’t called her back, so she just assumed it would be fine for her to be there for her two week vacation. She’d been long overdue a vacation, way overdue. Destiny couldn’t remember the last one she’d been on a trip, let alone one for the holiday.  Christmas was coming in two days and she hadn’t wanted to spend it in the city alone. Hell she didn’t want to spend it in the cabin alone either, but you didn’t always get what you wanted. At the urging of her doctor to take some time before she caused herself some serious health issues, she’d planned the trip out to the cabin. Christmas at the cabin had always been one of her favorite things to do, when she and Jackson had been happy. Destiny had to wonder if it would make it harder for her this year now that they were apart but needing to get away had become imperative.
