I bring my hands together in front of my heart, bow my head, and say namaste to Paul Latorre, Brian Lorocco, Salomé Lika Shimokawa, Robert Gutkowski, David LeDuc, Tom Kemper, Halina Mui, and Scott Bostwick. All of you have always made me feel my writing is valued at different times and in varied contexts of my life. I would like to express my gratitude to Xlibris, which has given me the opportunity to publish my book and I would like to offer my special appreciation to Tracey Pletz and Lee De Guzman for editing and reviewing the book.
What I see of the world: nature, love, challenge, hatred, and ordinary people who do miraculous feats every day and nobody notices; also, my experiences in the classroom of hard work, dedication, and passion encouraged me to create this book.
Writing poems and short stories is beautiful magic. These reflect the social and cultural milieu, and I added the sauce and zest to enrich those. I created characters, putting them in any challenging situation. I could imagine and let them look for ways to solve the issues. Of course, there are circumstances that the characters have no control over. Even though my character Hector keeps a positive mindset.
Every day we experience inequality in our lives. The tempo of the landslides comes so fast that people live in injustice and inequality in a regular
way. Inequality manifests in diverse ways. Wake up, a leopard is walking in the sanctuary. Everybody’s in danger. When it comes to harming others, now is the time to unlearn what people have learned. We do not cultivate hatred in the garden of our hearts. Cultivate patience, tolerance, and acceptance of diversity and inclusion. Cultivate to do the right things for others. As Pope Francis said, Whoever doesn’t live to serve, doesn’t need to live!
Always do better as humans.
I have learned to treasure the friendships of a few people. As the adage says, Slow down and smell the roses,
pay attention to those little things, make time to enjoy life. I have learned that writing is the spice in my ordinary life.
I have learned that Hector has withstood challenging adversity personified in sheer violence: deceitfulness, propaganda, juggernauts, and tinted glass. Hector’s suffering strengthens his faith, chooses no fear, and has a solid ground—integrity, even those he feels unsafe, yet Hector never loses his empathy.
Poems give a voice to the voiceless. The character Hector undergoes a huge mountain of untruth. Hector could say who he is. Now is the time that Hector, an ordinary man, breaks the silence and strives for his happiness. The purpose of his life is to be kind and serve—the power of love for equality and justice. Brings mindfulness and his heart is stirring. The sense of passion and action, and becoming better.
Introduction
Weaving pieces of real life and imagination, we conceive and reflect this reality. From his experiences, man has hopes, concerns, fears, good and bad dreams. Only, imagination is more important than knowledge,
in tough times (Einstein). Dream of the world beyond knowledge. I imagine volcanoes under the ocean and create concatenated situations. The fantasy nourishes reality and brings us into a new dimension through verses and proses. Writing is a great catharsis for releasing painful emotions.
I love nature, forests, the ocean, and observing the white clouds, blue sky, thunder, lightning, and rain. We feel part of this spectacular view. We and the land are one, becoming a resonating force to the marrow.
Man is a social creature that thrives and interacts in the community. The philosopher Aristotle said, Man is essentially a social animal by nature.
Society is an essential condition for humans and serves individuals. For example, in a workshop, the facilitator and the participants create an atmosphere of community. A sense of belongingness, shared aims, a deeper understanding of common experiences. I love my community. We live in the coronavirus age, and people now revalue community and virtual meetings.
I try to reflect on the multidimensionality of man: love, passion, hatred, creativity, and survival capacity. In the world, some people learn to hate and unleash emotions that become an obsession and produce an
