Her Last Wish

A woman by the name of Margaret lived in a small town outside of Seattle. She was nine months pregnant with a baby girl she named Alice. Having to conceive alone due to the father’s absence, Margaret found it to be very difficult. After her husband, James, was sent to prison for domestic abuse and attempted murder, she began to drink more than usual, stopped taking her doctor’s prescribed medication, and ended up staying with another abusive guy. Around the time it was time to conceive, Margaret received news from the doctor that it was a big possibility that she wouldn’t make it after conceiving, which caused more depression. She asked Pete, whom she was dating at the time, to promise her that he would look after her daughter if something were to happen to her.

On a cold and dark night, Margaret’s water broke, so she quickly went in, and the baby was born that very night. Unfortunately, Margaret was in too much of a bad condition and didn’t make it. Pete kept his promise and took baby Alice home. As time passed, Alice reached the age of fifteen, where she would begin to mature and develop relationships with new friends.
