INTRODUCTION

A few words about the title. Gibberrishi is such a rare name

with which to identify someone. Why that name?

In the first decade of this century I wandered for several years

in the foothills and mountains of northern India. The name

came to mind one afternoon while resting on a sun-bathed

mountainside overlooking a breathtaking panorama of Spiti

Valley near the 18th Century monastery at Dankar. Gibberrishi is

a name I created in a humorous vein of thought that afternoon.

I was journaling my travels back then and

maintaining silence as best I could.

Any talking sounded like gibberish to me. And

certainly, no Rishi engages in gibber or gibberish.

To gibber is to speak inarticulately, even foolishly, and might

be considered chatter or babble, with little purpose. Rishi is

a Hindu word that refers to an inspired sage or poet. The two

words played off each other for me. So, I liked the unforgiveable

notion of coupling the contrary. Viola, the name GIBBERRISHI!

An outrageous name and profound rhymes seem unlikely

from the same mind. Surprise! I confess, I have nothing

to say; that‘s why I write. For me, an inspiring delight.

This book is a creation of reason with rhyme, a

soothing reading rhythm for the dried-out logical mind

and the curious of the world looking for a different

perspective to start, from present thinking depart.
