Introduction
Education in Management forms the icing to basic education of individuals irrespective of their core disciplines like Engineering, Medical, Finance, etc.
Formal education in Management is expected to enable one to attain professional growth and also attain a respectable status in society. In this regard, formal education in Finance, Global Strategic Management, Business Analytics, Marketing Management, Health Management, Business Economics, etc. are invaluable.
However, amongst Management of many aspects that are required, management of human resources forms the vital aspect of the 7M’s namely Men, Machine, Material, Method, Money, Market and Manager.
One needs to be reminded that in considering management of Men
, if an index finger is pointed at others, three fingers automatically point back at oneself. Hence improving oneself is all the more important, lest it be contrived as only blaming others.
And, management of human beings including oneself is very subtle and that is where many a times, an individual with higher Emotional Quotient succeeds as he / she understands the gravity of the situation better and adopts a more holistic and altruistic approach to the problem.
Some of the management problems that can be solved by LEARNING MANAGEMENT BACK FROM MACHINES include in helping people:
✓ To manage their jobs and responsibilities with more ease.
✓ To manage their own time and resources better.
✓ In becoming less forgetful of what they were supposed to do, where they have kept their items, etc.
✓ In being able to communicate their requirement to others consistently and succeed in their communications.
✓ Who know the right method to do a job, to get the flair to articulate the same without hurting others and succeed.
✓ Avoid doing a job knowingly wrongly due to ego or misperception and thus avoid failure.
1%20SET%20A%20INTRODUCTION%20%2c%20PAGE%20%208.jpgFormal Education in Management Systems has tried to solve most of such problems. However students who wish to undertake formal management studies face some real fear / concerns due to which they hesitate to enroll in such studies. A few concerns are enumerated below:
84225.png The fear in the students that one needs to be extraordinarily intelligent to join and complete the professional management courses.
84225.png The fear in the students that what one has learnt in the management courses may not be useful in actual work environment.
84225.png The fear in the students of high cost of professional management courses.
84225.png The fear in the students of not meeting the educational criterion to join a formal management course in a reputed school / university.
84225.png The fear of high turnover rate for the management ideas, making one’s knowledge obsolete very quickly.
84225.png A personal bias in accepting the source of the teaching.
84225.png Inaccessibility to sources of teaching.
84225.png Lack of confidence in the experiences and teaching skillsets of the teachers.
84225.png Years of study required to master the management skillset etc.
Further, solutions to some common interpersonal relationships may still not be found or may not be implementable in an easy manner from formal management methods.
As is well known that what could be mended by a needle should not be damaged by a sword. LEARNING MANAGEMENT BACK FROM MACHINES is a management style learning which acts as a needle gently weaving the managerial solutions.
The Recourse
The current generation relates themselves more to Technology. It is now a known fact that children are able to identify electronic products and brands better than identifying natural objects!
The definition of nature in the immediate past was living amongst birds and bees in farms abounding with cattle. A ride would be on horse or bullock cart and most activity would be manual. Now we are swarmed with machines and live in a virtual world.
Hence learning, adopting and teaching management principles related to derivatives from technology become very relevant and pertinent. The machines have become all- encompassing and they will help developing strategies which will lead to success. This book is one in that direction.
The emotional quotient improvement will now also include learning management skillsets from machines.
Achievements of this book
84227.png This book LEARNING MANAGEMENT BACK FROM MACHINES
applies in essence not only the feedback from scientific inventions but also from applied engineering processes and principles to further and develop management principles.
84227.png After reading this book, one will look with amazement at machines and their working and—Voila! —the way they work will teach management principles.
84227.png The book will lead on an ecstatic path to understand machines and machine processes, The need now being not just to understand the machine and machine processes but also to derive managerial solutions for problems faced and then the end result is two-fold and more magnificient.
84227.png We have managed to make machines work the way we want. Now learning how the machines manage to deliver what we want could enable ourselves to deliver better what we expect ourselves to deliver!!!

Chapter one
And then, He was born
The year is 2025. The sun is setting in the east - a realistic rendering on a Multi-Layer virtual photo-illuminated abyss. Before we mention about the abyss and where it came from, we would have to mention about an ‘Ultra-Smart building’ in the city of New York christened Zula. It is a building – one amongst the cluster of skyscrapers from 40 to 120 floors. There are taller buildings in this concrete jungle around, but this building cluster is a prime center and it holds Business set-ups of some of the biggest giants of the industry.
The photo-illuminated abyss mentioned above is incorporated in the one of the prominent Lab cum offices which belongs to ‘Black-Light Innovations’ on the eightieth floor of one of the buildings of the Zula cluster.
‘Black-Light Innovations’ is known for its contribution in advance robotic and humanoids development & as a research center. This facility is owned by Dr. Muthukrishnan, that’s me. (In short called ‘Krish’ by most acquaintances).
The priorities in my life are managing this Lab-cum- office, as well as teaching and socializing in that order.
My Post-Doctoral Degrees and citations are so many that sometimes I cringe when somebody reads them aloud during introductions.
I may appear to be a self-assured and confident person but I am not. I also know there are people much more intelligent and capable than me.
To let out a secret, the idea to teach, spend time with my family, socialize in addition to the ever-present professional career are only to transplant ideas, contacts, resources and what not from one to the other and survive. Hence, my professional career, teaching, my family and socializing are the four pillars of my life.
I have noticed by experience – that being jovial, friendly and having a rather humble personality has helped me to steer better through interpersonal communications and relationships and these natures became my trait as well. When I was young, I had read somewhere, ‘adopt a philosophy which will work for you rather than you working for that philosophy.’ The words are so apt and so easy to practice.
Coming back to my office life, my days are normally routine with fair amount of success. And this particular day started off as a mandatory good day - It is my birthday!
It started off in a great way with me and my family visiting the temple in the vicinity, Swaminarayan temple, in New York. A ritual that me and my family have followed over generations and have passed on to our kids, Vinay & Maya. My children have grown to eclipse me in several ways. Radha, my beloved wife is a very loving character. She takes care of everything – she bosses over me, oversees my office, manages household chores and kids, and does all things that I can only list.
The temple visit was a soul filling but energy- consuming affair, post which Radha made us delicious South Indian lunch. She is a great cook and had prepared all my favorite delicacies taking a lot of effort. I am lucky to have her.
We were sitting at our dining table post lunch, when the phone rang. It was from the office. Normally, the office team gives me personal space during such occasions and hence I was concerned to see the call.
It was Lucy, my office Manager. ‘Something urgent dear – it’s from the lab, I have to run’, I told to Radha.
Lab and Office mean the same premises. But ‘lab’ alludes to technical work and ‘office’ alludes to administrative and other works. Hence Radha and Team mentally get aligned of what to expect, when they hear the words.
I excused myself rather awkwardly and dressed up quickly. For the past few months we were working on a Humanoid project in collaboration with a Japanese Company named TSU-MAKER, I know it sounds like ‘shoe maker’ but they intended to make it sound like ‘Schumacher.’ The project, summarized in a few lines, is about developing a hi-speed super-smart Robo-humanoid which could be the closest in form and functionality to human beings. This robot could learn and store several terabytes of information and could help and nurture mankind in the time to come. Also, this humanoid was to be a bit more advanced as it could read human minds and thoughts. The processer was designed similar to functionalities of the brain and the data sharing happens via ‘TEREPASHI’ a patented technology. It means telepathy broadly in Japanese. Currently it could incorporate the activities carried out by various sections of the brain of an individual and gather information from the brain by a confidential telepathic technology. Not all information but the ones that have a strong memory binding in the individuals mind. The concept used was that the stronger the memory, the higher the impulse shared by the nervous system.
We decided to name the robot as ‘MANU.’ MANU was the name of the first human created as per Hindu mythology, and so we plan to call it MANU - the first HUMANOID
The Project of making MANU come alive was under the final stages of completion. I reached the premises and Lucy came rushing with other colleagues with the project files in hand. ‘Krish, you know we were working on sorting out the software problem today. But there was a power surge and half of the robot’s wiring have got damaged’ she said in a troubled voice.
‘We are trying to sort out the same since morning, but we could only fix the hardware part and the power supply. The Software part is still not responding’ said Venkat.
We are a team of six - Myself, Lucy, Venkat, Spencer Teng and two junior engineers.
Venkat and Spencer Teng are System Directors.
Lucy is my ‘mother and sister’ combined personality in office who could control me sternly. She is the administrative head of my office.
Venkat and Spencer Teng are assets for my organization as they display an unusual calm composure in any calamity and their brains have storage capacity of several Terra Bytes with processor speed of 1000 GHz. Probably that is why they are calm.
Juniors are Amanda & Joey - students from the University of NY doing their research study. These juniors possess loads of enviable energy and dexterity and solutions evolve from them for various technical issues at the drop of a hat and I always look up to them. And I should concur, some of the technical issues which we could not solve would receive a solution during their casual university lunch time discussions with fellow students.
All six of us started making related checks and tests required for the software installed, few of them were responding and others were inactive. We kept trying till close to midnight while going through the same
