Gabrielle Clunie had an unforgettable encounter of God’s grace in 2016 while she was studying abroad at the University of Sydney. Away from the clamor of voices of her life, in the quiet meetings in her room with God she decided to drop the plans she had for her life in pursuit of the vision God had. This yes led to her moving to Australia for a year and a half to deepen and further pursue her relationship with God. It was there she received revelation of her own spiritual gifts and the purpose God had for her life to help build His kingdom. Heeding his voice and direction, she currently resides in Brooklyn, New York the birthplace of her own story and works as a middle school teacher.

Preface

At the age of twenty-one, I found myself in a mental crisis due to stress and anxiety about my future. On the cusp of getting ready to graduate with my degree, I realized that I hadn’t found what I wanted to dedicate the rest of my life to during my four years of education. I had multiple interests and picked up several skills to make me a dynamic job candidate, but when it came down to researching jobs and graduate programs, I felt everything but enthused. I knew internally that my biggest passion was writing, but to me, writing was in no way, shape, or form a career because of my focus on financial stability.

When I was in my second to last semester of university, I went on a journey with God to discover what my purpose was here on earth. I wish I could tell you that I immediately had my seventy-year plan laid out with all the details in place, but I didn’t. However, the moment I said yes to God, I was given my first chapter: moving to Australia. Let me give you a little background. I was in Sydney on exchange for the semester when I took this journey with God. At that point in my life, I didn’t have a true relationship with Christ, but I had sat in on enough sermons to self-identify as a Christian. My mother had given me Pastor Rick Warren’s My Purpose Driven Life for my twenty-first birthday, but it wasn’t until I was separated from my life in America that I took the time to read it.

Even while on exchange in Australia, the reality of graduation and figuring out what I was going to do with my life loomed over me. For forty days, I read more about this so-called purpose God had for my life. By the end of that period, I
