To my Cavapoo Custard. She melts my heart every day with her cute face. It brings sunshine!
To my cousin sister Anika. She is the best cousin/big sister I could ever ask for. She is so funny that I am always full of laughter when I am around her!

Life Right Now
donut-1727498%20(1).jpgTing, ting, ting
went the school bell this snowy white Friday. I bit my lip. Today was December 20, the Score Day. Every seven years, at the Young Talent school, each student takes a test that quizzes us on every possible thing we learn at school. Ten days later, Mr. Tongail, the fourth grade English teacher, would invite us to the hall of academics, also known as the assembly. There, he would announce the score of each child on the test; hence, this day is known as the Score Day. The child with the highest score on the test would be the snow princess or snow prince according to their gender. They would get to be the very important person of the winter wonderland party for the next seven years! I think it’s unfair!
Just then Carol Marlin, my BFF, ran into me. She had shimmery black hair with a white face and always carried a ponytail behind.
TIFFANY!
she cried, giving me a big tight hug. By the way, my name is Tiffany Erika. The suspense for Score Day is killing me! Literally killing me!
Carol cried.
Tell me about it.
I laughed.
Just then Anna Erika, my five-year-old little sister popped out of her class. Anna bounced up and down with her blond hair bouncing too. She was covered in her pink cheeks, pink dress, pink boots, pink leggings, and pink teddy bear named Pinky Winky.
We all get to wear dashing clothes since my mother Jenifer Erika is on the board of directors of an awesome clothes shop called Fashion Runway. Today she gave me a shirt with my name on it in purple. It also had an ocean blue background. I am also wearing a shiny pink mini skirt with a shiny black pair of tap-dancing boots. It all goes perfectly with my straight blond hair with curls at the bottom. My shimmery tap-dancing boots were popping into the hall of academics. Carol, Anna, and I found seats together as we started describing our winter wonderland holidays. Just then my elder sister Carolina Erika arrived. Carolina is probably the most spoiled fourteen-year-old sister you could ever have. Carolina gets punished a lot. Her average grade is F-, and she is on her phone forever!
Move over,
Carolina cried, finding a seat.
Just then Mr. Tongail shouted, ATTENTION, BOYS AND GIRLS!
All the children sat up straight when he shouted; it was the school rule.
For Score Day, we will start from the worst score to the best score,
explained Mr. Tongail.
Mr. Tongail fixed his glasses into the right place when he began to announce the scores. Carolina Erika, your score is zero,
began Mr. Tongail in a peaceful voice.
What kind of score is this? You call this fair?
screamed Carolina.
Shush, loser.
Mr. Tongail laughed.
All the children turned around to look at her in laughter like she was hosting a comedy show.
You got zero out of one thousand, what a dummy.
Elizabeth, the sassy girl in the class, laughed.
ONE HOUR LATER
Scores continued when, finally, it came to the final scores.
Carol Marlin, your score is 998. Anna Erika, your score is 999. Now please give a clap for our snow princess—Tiffany Erika!
screamed Mr. Tongail.
All the children gathered around, hugging me and showering me with candy and chocolate. image2.jpg It was the best!
Just then I noticed that Carolina was talking to Mr. Tongail. I noticed the fear in her eyes. I just remembered what Mom told me in the morning. If anyone of you gets your score below one hundred, you are going to have a serious talk with me!
she yelled.
I knew I wanted to save her, but if I did, Mom would be mad at me too. The light snowflakes slowly falling made my heart warmer. Just then the cafeteria chef ran to the hall of academics. All right, children there is free hot cocoa and mini marshmallows in the classrooms! Run and get them,
she cried in her old wrinkled voice.
The other children ran along, I wondered if I should go too, but my love for hot cocoa just pushed me.
Snowflakes stormed down from the sky just like rain when Mr. Tongail and Carolina arrived in Mrs. Ariana’s classroom. In Mrs. Ariana’s class, there will be a new student. Her name is Rita Ryan,
introduced Mr. Tongail.
Rita stood in the middle of the class. Nobody clapped or smiled. Everyone just stared at her. I gave Rita a smile, not knowing what was wrong.
Wow, look at the flower on her head!
whispered Carolina into my ear.
I took a close look at Rita. She had a bright flower on her head. It was pink, blue, and purple. It was so bright it could hypnotize people. Just then I noticed the flower had about one thousand tiny white swirls swimming around. I curiously smiled, not knowing what to do, even though I was 100 percent clueless on what was in the flower. In my entire life, I never saw anything even close to the flower.
Okay, Rita, please go sit down while I tell the class some information about the winter wonderland party!
instructed Mr. Tongail. Each classroom has opened a fun station, you are allowed to go to any fun station you like, and you are also allowed to go to the dance party at the hallway. Another announcement is I have to open the door for parents.
Mr. Tongail laughed.
When Mr. Tongail opened the door, parents ran to the children. My mother did the same.
MOMMY!
Anna and I shouted.
Mom, guess who is the winter princess?
quizzed Anna.
Who?
asked my mom.
Tiffany,
cried Anna.
Wow, Toffee, I am so proud.
Mom smiled. By the way, my mom calls me Toffee.
What did you get?
Mom asked Carolina.
Carolina was glued to her phone when she finally gave out a big sigh. I got zero,
blurted out Carolina with her teenage voice.
Go home, Carolina. We will talk about this later!
exclaimed Mom.
Chapter 2
Christmas Cruise
donut-1727498%20(1).jpgTwo hours later, we dashed to the house, knowing that our cousins would be arriving to celebrate Christmas with us. When they arrived, Carolina was glued to her phone.
Hey, how was the party that I missed?
sarcastically asked Carolina.
It was awesome! I beat Mrs. Macy in mini-marshmallow chopstick-picking.
I smiled.
Oh my god, she is impossible to beat.
Carolina giggled.
I know, right?
I laughed.
Carolina, I decided a punishment that is fair. You are banned from your phone as long as your cousins are with you,
decided Mom.
That is so unfair,
cried Carolina.
No, it’s not! Aunt Violet told me she planned a special occasion, and if you are on your phone, it will be less fun!
said my mom.
Carolina rolled her eyes, giving her phone to my mom as we started baking chocolate lava cakes.
My mom’s lava cake is seriously the best thing I ever tasted. She only made it on special occasions because she watched a documentary on unhealthy food, and ever since then, she became very strict on our eating.
Yum lava cake,
Anna cheered.
Only for Christmas,
reminded mom.
Please, can we eat some lava cake today?
begged all three of us in unison.
Fine, but only a nibble,
agreed my mom.
My favorite sugary desserts are definitely Mom’s chocolate lava cake and ice cream blowout,
Anna declared.
Ice cream blowout is a vanilla cake that when you cut open, you get ice cream blown out. Just then the bell rang outside our door.
I’ll get it,
decided Mom, going to the door, with us following.
Just then Aunt Violet and our cousin sister arrived. Our cousin’s name is Victoria. Victoria is eleven years old, and she hates Carolina more than anyone. Once, Carolina was super behind in her studies, so she went into Victoria’s sixth grade class. In the class, they had to submit a chapter book they wrote. Victoria worked incredibly hard on her chapter book. She made a book that great, Aunt Violet told her it was seventh grade level. Unfortunately, Carolina didn’t write her chapter book. That’s why, when all the children went out for recess, Carolina sneaked into Victoria’s cubby, stole her chapter book, erased the name Victoria, and replaced it with Carolina. Just then I noticed Carolina with a smile on her face.
I can’t wait for my birthday,
cheered Carolina. By the way Carolina’s birthday is on December 21, which is tomorrow.
Yes, and don’t forget you’re going to have an M&M’s cake,
pampered my mom.
The M&M’s cake was the most popular cake in our school. It was a two-layered cake in any flavor, with white fondant wrapped around it. On top of that, there were two giant M&M’s, one yellow, the other red.
