The author has over three decades of diversified experience in photography. His career began as a hobby while he was serving in the US Marine Corps. While still serving, he was a part time photojournalist for the local newspaper in Jacksonville, NC. He is a graduate of New York Institute of Photography and Carteret Community College in Morehead City, NC with a degree in Photography Technology. As a freelancer, Daniel’s commercial work has appeared in magazines nationwide. His work has been featured in Off Road Magazine and other car and motorcycle publications, as well as Lake of the Ozarks Travel Guide, Jacksonville NC Travel Guide, calendars and catalogues. He currently specializes in wildlife and landscape photography. His work has been featured in libraries, art shows, nature centers, and the airport art gallery. He has received numerous awards and competitions for his featured work. Daniel is past president of the local camera club and is an independent instructor.

    Basic Camera Controls

    Manual-enabled modes give the photographer control over the various parameters of an exposure. There are three exposure parameters-aperture, time (shutter speed), and sensitivity (ISO). In different modes, these are each set automatically or manually. For a given exposure, this is an underdetermined system, as there are three inputs but only one output. There are many combinations that result in the same exposure such as decreasing the aperture by one stop
