Pain of Human Nature - Dayton Greer
Scared
In the independence I crave beyond my means of my own help for justice, induced under the beloved substances that I love I stand alone. The one way into an abnormal standpoint I fall for the lost knocking my pain away to forgive the forgotten.
Time
Strands of time across the eye of life create an infinite beauty.
Little to no future exists within the arms of fate around us.
Between the middle and end is a hope of alternative rotation.
The darkness blinds me and deafens my ears with the sounds of emptiness.
Only once we find the path, can routes be disrupted.
In the end, it was discovered that the light does exist in the broad colorless plane.
Light only communicates when you acknowledge pity.
Do not stray from the destination that we all call hope.
Animosity clouds the path of positivity and ends the route that it was once on.
Distance
No length is too great for a threat which we cannot see.
When your foes are undetectable to all senses, you simply adapt to the effects.
The amount of space is never great enough.
For the stretch of differences, it can still find you.
When it arrives, it trickles into your darkest depths and clouds all you are.
No study can reverse the damage, so for the first time you have no answer.
The harder you fight it, the more you sink.
I have been called a legend and accused of cheating life.
I was simply mistake free; it wasn’t luck on my side.
Shielding
The thicker your guard the safer you are.
It could be the end, or it could be pretend.
You will never know if it doesn’t show.
The speed that it fires ensures to not tire.
Before the start of action, gain your traction.
Submissive turns shall prevent burns.
Gather your gear and put away the fear.
We made it through and so will you.
Blood
The weakness in me is the blood of the devil.
For as long as time has elapsed, I’ve consumed him.
The power of his presence leaves me wanting more.
So righteous, the feeling while it grows.
My blood burns as it fills my veins.
On the cold nights, the bottle was my only friend.
So many memories are frozen in time, forgotten to the haze of the poison.
All the people I have drowned out slowly begin to float to the surface.
The noise is too much to bear as reality sets back in.
Time is never ending, and when I end, time will remain.
Sins
The waters are my thoughts and the waters are endless, continuing until incomprehensible.
My body is the vessel that keeps me afloat, even in the most damning storm.
The waves crash into me like wildfires at the base of dry mountains.
Only for so long can my shell, the vessel, withstand this beating.
Time is my endurance and it’s slowly running out.
There are cracks in my walls that I cannot repair.
The waters rush in, flooding the hull until all hope is lost.
Memories fade and life disappears as the waters drown me.
At the surface, I see the future, and as I reach for it, more water enters the walls.
I’m sinking faster now, as my vessel reaches the bottom, my eyes close and the structure crumbles at the pressure.
There you are, pulling me from the darkest depths of the waters.
When I’m in your embrace, you crush me, squeezing tighter when I fight back.
The world goes dark again and the flames burn out. My sins have all but buried me and hope is lost. I breathe in my last breath and I make it count. A fiery smoke-filled intake…. My last one.
