He Was A Survivor

About this ebook
“He Was A Survivor,” adheres to the strict no-nonsense historical line. Little known aspects of the United States Navy of the nineteen twenties and thirties are incorporated into the story. Obscure realities about what took place prior to and during the attack appear here for the first time.
Most of the individuals who have made this story possible have passed away and many of the geographic areas no longer exist. It took more than a quarter century to research and formulate this story. Hence it would be impossible to write, “He Was A Survivor,” today.
Anthony R. Mills
Merchant Mariner Anthony R. Mills was born at Washington D. C. to an Army Sergeant father who was stationed at the Pentagon and a Hungarian born mother native of Budapest. After a European tour the family eventually moved to the West Coast and settled at Vallejo, California. While Mills was still in high school he had befriended many a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He purchased his first automobile from a Survivor. Mills commenced to research the story when he was a graduate student and wrote the first of many drafts while employed on commercial tugboats out-of-southern Louisiana. At this time the story was incomplete. It was not until some years later when Mills found employment with Military Sealift Command that he acquired the experience to conclude the 25-year long project. Mills is also the author of numerous poems, a musical libretto, short stories and two other published books; “Drake’s Bay,” and, “Subic Bay – The Last American Colony.”
