About this ebook

In her debut book, Angela Sette reveals the limitless possibilities that can be acquired when we learn to harness our own brainpower. Through her own stories of the struggles and successes of raising children, she leaves the reader with an overwhelming feeling of soulfulness, while merging the lessons that were learned about the brain and our energy along the way. Throughout the book, she explores how we are all artistically woven intricately into the unique beings that we are today by the people in our lives, life experiences and knowledge we attain and uncovers the ways in which this knowledge is unexpectedly learned not just from our own struggles and our elders’ but from our youngest teachers, our children. Intermingled amongst stories are methods that will chip away fear along with self limiting beliefs. Readers will find themselves reconnected with their passions, desires and role as evolutionary beings with the ability to open their minds to their own human potential.

Master your energy, time and emotions by optimizing the brain’s superpowers! Richly expressed through authentic stories that inspire human potential as in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill along with transformational qualities found in The Seat Of The Soul by Gary Zukav.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I am forever grateful for my mom’s everlasting love, which continues to guide me along my way in spirit. I feel your presence with me always! You were my voice when I couldn’t speak, and you believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. Thank you for blessing me with two wonderful sisters, Tina and Donna. It was the book you began to write that opened my mind to writing in the future.

I am grateful for Dominic Sette, my spiritual partner in life and the father of our three beautiful children. His dedication to providing for our family is a true testament of his love and adoration. The power struggles we face together in our lives help each of our souls evolve and grow deeper in love.

I am grateful for Nicolette, our firstborn. I am so blessed to have her as our first child and our first teacher in our lives. We have learned so much from her medical obstacles and are so grateful for her strength and determination to achieve her goals without using these challenges as an excuse to not pursue her passions. Thank you for sharing similar creative passions with me, convincing me to write this book, reading it, and helping me edit it, so it was a smoother read.

I am grateful for Zachary, our second born. I am so blessed to have our second child and second teacher in our lives. We learned that his independence and organizational skills were an asset to us, both then as well as now. I will be forever thankful for our open conversations about successes and struggles. Incidentally, it was what I wrote to you so many years ago to uplift your spirits that ended up serving as the book preview.

I am grateful for Anthony, our third born. I am so blessed to have our third child and the third teacher in our lives. We learned from Anthony that limits only exist in the minds of those that think they can’t. Your openness, delight, and eagerness to learn are exciting! Thank you for your computer and technical skills, which made it possible to write and finish this book, and for creating the book cover.

I am grateful for my grandparents Baba, Pop, and Nana, who serve as the elder guides in my life while here on this earth and beyond, as well as my Aunt Tracy, who continues to be like an older sister, second mom, and godmother, guiding me through life. I am also grateful for Frank, who was such a kindhearted partner for my mom, serving as a grandfather to my children and a father figure for me and my sisters.

I am grateful for my sister-in-law Angela Sette Maman and my close friends, Terri Marion and Loren Golden, for their constant encouragement and belief in me when I found it hard to believe in myself. You are not only my clients, neighbors, and friends but also the kindest, most giving people I have been blessed to have in my life.

I am grateful for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the team of neurologists, especially Dr. Daniel Licht, for his open-minded approach toward treatment, which led us to the wonderful keto team. Many thanks to Claire Chee, Cagla Fenton, and Sue Groveman for their tireless efforts, compassion, and love while Nicolette was in the keto program.

Also, I’m grateful for the Wawa stores for creating and donating the high-fat cream weekly. It was amazingly generous and sustained our daughter’s ketones for many years while in the keto program.

I am grateful to Jeanna Sciarrotta, who is the editor of this book. She assisted in not only correcting my grammatical mistakes but also making sense out of each chapter, creating a more enjoyable book for the reader.

    FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I am forever grateful for the mentors and spiritual guides in my life. Without your contributions to this world, I would not be who I am today. Oprah Winfrey, who introduced me to writing a gratitude journal when my children were first born. This was how I wrote this book, and Oprah paved a path toward healing humanity, which I aspire to follow. Deepak Chopra, whom I met, read his books, and participated in the many meditations created and offered by Deepak and Oprah. Deepak’s integration of medicine merged with the mind has guided a pathway to quantum healing. Goldie Hawn, for her books Ten Mindful Minutes and The Mind Up Program, as well as her entertaining movies. Ray Sette, who is not a relative but has the same last name, for his astrological reading that awakened an awareness in my mind. Patrick Lindsay, for Be Happy, a book written with transformational quotes, which I read daily. Andy Andrews, for the book The Butterfly Effect—Everything You Do Matters; it has become the mantra that I carry with me every day. Napoleon Hill, for the book Think and Grow Rich, which pushes my thoughts and motivates me to continually seek my dreams. Rhonda Byrnes, for the book The Secret, which was introduced to me by my late mom and continuously reminds me how powerful we are in this universe! Eckhart Tolle, for his books and his present moment spiritual enlightenment, creating awareness and joy in the here and now. Gary Zukav, for the book The Seat of the Soul, for a journey to the understanding of love and fear and the role the ego plays in our lives, all while combining science and spirituality. Suzanne Somers, for the multitude of books she created in her search for healthful living and the tremendous prestigious doctors she interviewed. Russell Simmons with Chris Marrow, whose book reminds me of how powerful our creative abilities can come forth via meditation. Lisa Nichols, for her transformational speaking abilities, which have propelled a once painstakingly shy girl to dare to share her stories on Facebook and to live audiences about how I am imperfectly perfect. Jim Kwik, for his Super Brain online course and his Kwik Reading course; I’m learning more about how to use my time, energy, and brains to profoundly increase my abilities. Mindvalley, for uncovering the teachers and mentors like Nichols, Kwik, and so many more. Heidi Baker, who created Time Talks in San Diego, California, which empowered us to use our speaking skills acquired from online group course called Speak and Inspire by Lisa Nichols. The Time Talk Sisters, as we now call ourselves, are from all over the world, and I am grateful for the light that they shine on me every day.

Special thanks to the artistically talented Lucy Rogers who’s diligence created a book cover that captured the essence of my book.

    PREFACE

I quietly sat on my sister Donna’s black leather couch to take a peaceful moment to absorb the impact of what just transpired. I had just told Frank, my mom’s significant other while she was here on this earth, that I had written a book. He looked at me with his kind, fatherly eyes and said, You know, your mom tried to write a book. I responded that this was the reason I wrote this book, and I saw tears form in Frank’s eyes. It seemed to come full circle then. While sitting there, I happened to look up and notice the branch made of iron with three butterflies sitting on it. This happened to be my mom’s, and although it had been in my sister’s home for years, I had never really noticed it until then. There were three of us growing up, and I also have three children. Wow! I thought. We learn so much from our children. I wonder if my mom felt the same way? Then I remembered that she indeed must have felt this way, because in her last will and testament, she called the three of us her jewels.

The synchronicity of it all flashed me back in time to when my children were younger. I remembered looking for a birthday card in Hallmark. I was searching for something that matched my emotional feeling during this trying period in our lives. I was drawn to a rack of inspirational books by the light that reflected off the butterfly of one of the books. It was The Butterfly Effect—Everything You Do Matters by New York Times best-selling author Andy Andrews. I sifted through it quickly, seeing if it was worth my time and money. The book was not long, but its contents and message have forever transformed my way of thinking. For so long, I believed we had the power to do more, but I settled for mediocrity. Adopting a thought process that we can slowly create something miraculous can be a stretch for many of us, as if it had been for me for quite a while until reading this book. However, applying this daily gave me a sense of light and future insight. I wanted everyone to read this and feel its empowerment. Saddened that this was not the case initially, I learned that everyone evolves and grows in his or her own time, and if not now, then it may still have a cumulative effect into people’s futures.

I started off small and began an Instagram account on my mom’s birthday, posting pictures and writing inspirational quotes to uplift everyone’s spirits. It was the wonderful positive feedback that I received from the followers that made me feel I could expand my wings and begin writing more. As you will see, it also became the title of each one of my fifteen chapters, and the quote is written in full for each chapter. Amazingly, what happened was that it became a way to structure the entire book, and each chapter seemed to represent something very pivotal in this book. For me, it was the insight I needed to continually progress with many endeavors, such as writing this book and then finally finishing it. My gratitude to angelasette Instagram followers; in my attempt to motivate and transform your life, I found it paved my way! I had a realization that at this moment it may only be a simple flap of my wings, but within time the metamorphosis will occur. Knowledge gained in life is made fruitful only if we are willing to share it with others. The beauty and grace of butterflies has taken a whole new meaning in life, making their divine guidance and presence too difficult to ignore. It is my hope that the combination of heartfelt stories combined with the know-how to harness the most out of life empowers the reader to say yes, it is true that everything you do does matter!

    CHAPTER ONE

    YOU ARE WORTH IT

The shift into self worth takes self love

Every once in a while, the universe surprises us. Every once in a while, the happenings of the world line up so perfectly that they are impossible to ignore. I almost did ignore them, though. It was a time in my life where the utter chaos of being a mom held me captive. There were places my children needed to be, forms to sign, clothes to fold, and dinners to cook. These were all of the wondrous parts of my adult life that I loved, but also the parts that sometimes caused me to forget about the me that had existed before the family, before the husband, before the kids.

On this particular Saturday morning, however, the universe gave me a nudge. It was my birthday, and like any other Saturday morning, I would generally be asleep in my bed. This Saturday, at about 6:05 a.m., there was supposed to be a lunar eclipse. To be clear, I would not normally consider myself to be well-informed on all things astrological. For some reason or other, about two weeks prior, I had had my very first astrological reading. In fact, it was in that meeting that I had learned about the moon and the relevance it had on what was in store for me this year, which was what caused me to be up and quietly tiptoeing around my house at the crack of dawn. Looking back, there were a million reasons why I should have rescheduled that reading on that day, but I had felt a sense of urgency to go that I could not ignore. Upon arriving at this reading and initially getting started, I was asked if I knew that today there was a solar eclipse, and that in a couple weeks in September 2016, there was going to be a lunar eclipse, which would coincide with a full moon. That this had not happened at the same time since the day I was born.

This coincidence was enough to get me out of bed early on a weekend. I quietly crept down the stairs that early morning, trying not to awaken anyone else in the house in order to view this full moon lunar eclipse, which had not happened since September 18, 1967. I waited expectantly for the eclipse and felt it would somehow be a sign in my life, but 6:05 came and went, and the sky remained unchanged. I began frantically searching the Internet to see if it was possible I could have missed this event completely or somehow had the wrong time. I couldn’t believe that the coincidence could be a mix-up. I knew that I was meant to see that eclipse.

Just as I was reading that it was possible this eclipse may only be viewed on the other side of the world, I heard my daughter behind me. She asked if the eclipse had already happened. Discouraged at this point and feeling bad that I’d disturbed our sleep, I was ready to retreat and tuck us both back into our warm, inviting beds. However, my daughter convinced me to stay up a while longer so that we could at least watch the sunrise. We were rewarded for our vigilance: at precisely 6:19, we witnessed the eclipse. The sky became dark, and the moon reappeared. It was amazing to see the night sky once again become illuminated. As we stood on our steps viewing this, I felt so blessed to have witnessed this with my daughter. We remained transfixed, staring out the window. To our surprise, minutes later we witnessed a second eclipse at 6:27. Then shortly after the second darkness and illumination, a third eclipse occurred at 6:31. We were both fascinated, and we couldn’t believe that we were able to witness such a fantastic event three times! As the moon slowly lowered behind the trees, we watched it, mesmerized by the events that had taken place. I thought to myself, Who really teaches whom in this world? Are we here to teach our children, or are they here to teach us? Had I been awake by myself, I probably would have gone to bed, thinking that I had missed the eclipse. It was my daughter who convinced me to stay up
