He had a career as history teacher and as psychologist, closely involved with changes in communications, computers, home appliances, and more. Merle has previously published poetry, short stories, and biography. The motivation of this book is to get the youngest generation to be aware of the changes in technology as they mature.

My first acknowledgement is to my parents, the late Bernie and Ruth Fischlowitz, who never frustrated my inquisitiveness. I am forever indebted to my teachers, the very demanding history teachers at University City, MO, high school, and those at Grinnell College who excited me about the varied ways of studying history. I particularly remember Professors Frederic Baumann, Homer Norton, and Joseph Wall, extraordinary teachers during their long careers at Grinnell.
I haven’t written this book as a scholarly work, with citations that meet academic standards. Nonetheless, even writing a memoir I recognize, as extensive as my memories are, I needed to do some research, and thus learned
