The author, in his late 80s, has memories from age three. In his professional career he has been a history teacher, school counselor, administrator of psychological services, and psychologist in private practice. Fischlowitz has worked in his native Missouri, in the DC area and in Honolulu, HI. Though not a scientist, Fischlowitz has had a life-long interest in the ways scientific and technical innovations affect our culture and our daily lives. He has written books of poetry and short stories, and a biography of his wife, a Holocaust Survivor. Retired in Southern California, he also enjoys writing fun yet educational books for his youngest grandchildren.

I am forever indebted to my teachers, the very demanding history teachers at University City, MO, high school, and those at Grinnell College who excited me about the varied ways of studying history.
