    PREFACE

Hindu philosophy, astronomy, mathematics and other fields of knowledge were superior to knowledge contained in other religions. Burning of dead is superior to a burial of the dead. A belief in transmigration is wrong. However, it is better than a belief in the resurrection of the dead.

Despite many superior beliefs and practices hindus were defeated by invaders and they were converted to Islam and christianity. Bhagavad Gita says that God may be worshipped in any form, and called by any name it is one and same God who answers prayers of all men. We must examine all those causes which led to a defeat of hindus.

Idolatry is a weaker form of making contact with God. Social unity is better created by the Islamic group prayer system. Caste system also contributed to the defeat of hindu kings. Jihad and dharam Yudh are religious duties of every man of every caste. The doctrine of non-violence and vegetarianism also contributed to the defeat of hindu people. A belief in gods and incarnation of God in human form is false. Celibacy and asceticism are great evils.

The mulims of India did not come from arab countries and their forefathers were hindus. The blood or seed of hindus and muslims is one and the same. Unfortunately there was no Intermingling and muslims were not absorbed into hinduism. Guru Nanak, Arya samaj, Brahmosmaj and many reformers like Kabir tried to create a hindu muslim unity.

The system of veil and seclusion was unknown to hindus and they borrowed this practice from Islam. The rate of divorce is very high in the muslims of other countries and due to a contact with hindus the rate of divorce is very low among the muslims of India. Hindus will lose nothing by accepting islamic system of marriage, divore and inheritance.

Circumcision is good as this practice save us from sexually transmitted diseases.

    Upanishads say: Thou art That.

Wise Mansur al-Hajj said: I am Allah.

Muslims also suffer from false beliefs in angels, devil, satan, Iblis, Jinn, resurrection of the dead and other imaginary beings and places. A belief in the respite given to satan is false. A worship of tombs and black stone amounts to idolatry. Islam borrowed many beliefs and practices from Judaism.

Judaism and upanishads replaced the sacrifices by path of knowledge and made reason as superior to revelations. Muslims should make Imams subordinate to the ulemas (learned scholars of Islam). Prophets were human beings and some errors were committed by athem. Unfortunately Mohammed regarded slavery as lawful and many verses of karan are directed against idolators, christianity and judaism. Mohammed accused satan for injecting false beliefs into his mind and later on abrogated many verses of koran.

Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita are based on symbolic stories and imaginary characters. The law of karma is unscientific and Innocent people have to reap what is sown by the evildoer. Innocent people give good measure and they receive bad measure. Malaria, poverty, sex, suffings and happiness are not due to the law of Karma. The goal of liberation is false and amounts to running away from the real struggle for existence. A belief in God will become stronger by rejecting false beliefs.

Common problems of hindus and muslims:-

Corruption is created in the society by late marriages. Marriages are delayed due to the demands of dowry, long period of education and time taken for finding a job.

Legalisation of homosexuality, drugs, drinking, gambling, prostitution, pornograhy and other evils are opposed by hinduism and Islamic beliefs.

The ethics of Islam, hinduism, buddhism, sikhism and other religions is same. Hence, there is a hope of inter-religious cooperation and peace. Let us not allow legalisation of sins due to interreligious conflicts.

Singh M Parashar was born in India in 1939 and gained a, Msc degree from Indore University. After working as a research officer for Forest Research Institute in Dehradun for five years, he moved to France for further training in 1378.

    PRAYER AND WORSHIP CEREMONY

Prayer is a talk with God. Prayer is a spiritual communion with God. Prayers are made with a firm and blind faith that our prayers are heard and replied by God. Man is not alone in the world and God is always with us.

    THE ABLUTION:

A ritual purity is created and felt by ablution.

Ablution is a religious ceremony and a man becomes fit for prayers by washing his body. Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Jains make ablution before making their prayers. Hindus and Muslim do a hand-wash and a feet-wash before starting a prayer.

Hindus make prayers in the morning by making an ablution in river Ganga.

Hindus take a dip-bath in the holy water of river Ganga. Hindus believe that a man is sanctified by taking a bath in holy Ganga. Vishvamitra describes the long history of descent of Ganga from heaven.

The legend of Ganga is unscientific. The water of the sea is changed into clouds and these clouds become snow. Snow is melted by the heat of the sun and river Ganga is produced. There is nothing divine in this process.

Gautama regarded bathing three times as a kind of penance.

The ancient Hindu books tell us that sins are erased by taking a bath in river Ganga or in the wells of a holy temple. The sin of killing a brahmin can not be cancelled by taking a bath in river Ganga or in the wells of holy temples. Bathing becomes a penance by repentance for the sins committed by us. The bathing prayer is very useful.

Prayers should be made with an attentive mind as during prayers our mind is lost in the affairs of the world.

Muslims make prayers in Arabic without understanding the content of prayers. Hindus make prayers in Sanskrit without fully understanding the meanings of the verses uttered by them. People make prayers in Hebrew, Greek and other languages without understanding the content of prayers.

People make prayers by making use of fixed form of words and they believe in the magic spell of prayers.

Good deeds are more important than a declaration of faith. Fanatics kill the followers of other religions and their error can be removed by making prayers in a vernacular language.

Prayers made without understanding the meanings are of little use.

Prayers are marked by a state of ecstasy or exaltation. During prayers we are filled with overpowering emotions i.e.sudden, mystic and intense feelings.

Prayers are marked by a mental transportation from inspirations to a contemplation on the divine being. During prayers we are taken out of our natural state of our bodies and we are absorbed in the Supreme Being. Prayers help a man in remaining stable during the ups and down of life.

    THE OBJECTS OF PRAYERS:

Hindu prayers are marked by a repeating slokas (mantras or verses).

We should say: O, Lord we bow before you. Pride is best destroyed by bowing our head before God. Nietzsche asked people not to bow before any higher authority. Islam is submission and surrender to Allah.

    THE OBJECT OF PRAYERS:

During an Islamic prayer we say: The Opening. In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate to all. The Lord of the world is to be praised. He is Merciful to all, Compassionate to each of us. He is the Lord of the Day of Reckoning. It is only to You we come to worship, and seek help from You. Guide us to the right path, the path of those upon whom your love is great, not of those who are hated by You. Nor of those who have lost their path (This is a prayer for getting right guidance from God.). There is no God but Him, the Living, the Eternal. Muslims remember God by declaring that Allah is the Greatest Being. It is more useful to remember God by His ethical attributes. God is Truth. God is moral purity. God is justice. God is altruism. God is peace.

A prayer for right guidance is better than a prayer made for worldly things. People make prayers for bread, wealth, health, victory, sons and other things of the world. We should ask God to give us the transcendental knowledge. We should say: O Lord! Save us from destructive pleasure and make us to enjoy a constructive pleasure. O Lord! Keep us on the path of truth. O Lord! Keep us on the path of moral purity. O Lord! Keep us on the path of justice.

It is good that we confess our sins before God and express our repentance for the sins committed by us during the past. We should seek forgiveness from God for the sins committed by us. We should ask God to save us from new sins. Sins are erased by making sincere repentance and prayers.

During prayers God is praised and His attributes are mentioned.

God is thanked for the help given by Him in the past.

The prayers made by Jews are marked by giving thanks to God for providing us his bounties.

We should always modify our prayers and postures as a new energy is created by making use of new words and postures.

We may ask God to give health and prosperity to other sick people. Say: May God create peace in the world.

Mohammed asked muslims to face the danger by turning to God again and again. We should increase the number of prayers with an increase in danger or problems.

Hindus worship goddess Lakshmi for getting wealth from her. Lakshmi is regarded as the goddess of fortune. Tara, the wife of Vali, used to make prayers for victory.

Great care is taken by the Hindus in a correct spelling of the verses uttered by them. Jap is regarded by the Hindus as a kind of penance.

Hindus frequently utter the sound Om.

    PRAYERS AND POSTURES IN HINDUISM:

A hindu prayer is made with the joined of the palms. Hindus also greet each other with folded hands as a sign of respect. The hallowed hands are placed together by the hindus as a mark of salutation to gods. Prayers are to made with an undivided mind. Prayers (prathna) is made by every Hindu to the selected god of his family.

    Hinduism = Henotheism + monotheism + monism + polytheism + atheism + pantheism.

However, we find in hinduism an inclination to worship a personal God. Bhagwad Gita tell us that a prayer to a personal God is better than a prayer made to an impersonal Absolute.

Hinduism is full of contradictory statements. For a successful blending of Islam and Hinduism it is necessary to make Hinduism free from polytheism.

People make prayers with an aim to get their desires for worldly things fulfilled.

It is good to have a firm faith in God’s kripa (grace) and we feel that a man is purified by his sadhna (prayers).

All hindu kings had sacred fire houses inside their palaces.

Sage Bhardwaj made prayers to Visvakarma and said: May the blessed moon-god supply me fresh flowers (of all colors), wine and meat. 2-91-21 It is bad to ask wine from gods.

Rama said to Sita: After my departure to forests you can worship the gods in the morning and make salutation to my father. 2-26-30 Rama said to Sita: Brahmans are the scholars in vedas and they have not placed on your head honey and curd after a bath has been taken by you. 2-26-13

Rama saw the things brought (for performing the holy ceremony) like curd, unbroken rice, clarified butter, spices, garland containing white flowers, sweet meat, fried grains, sacrificial sticks, rice boiled in milk, mixture of rice and peas, utensils containing water etc. Rama found all road junctions were being worshipped with yoghurt, unbroken rice, fried food grains, purified burrer, perfumes, flowers of all colors, incense, aloe, sandal, garlands prepared from all types of flowers etc. 2-16-6

Hanuman, the son of Kesri, was an ideal bhakth (worshipper) of Sri Rama.

Bharat took a good decision by his worship of the shoe-sandals of Rama.

After taking a bath Rama made prayers to Lord Rudra, Lord Vasudeva and Lord Shiva with an aim to purify his house and get his sins erased. Many vedic hymns are directed to a worship of Lord Shiva.

Lakshman prepared Chatiya (altar for the worship of Lord Ganesha) and Ayatanas (altar for the worship of Lord Vishnu) 2-56-33

Sita used to make prayers to Lord Brihaspati, the self-existent Brahman.

Brahman is the lord of eloquence.

Hindus wrongly believe that oblations are eaten by the gods.

Rituals are also performed by the Hindus in favor of Lord Shiva. Lord Narayan was worshipped by sage Vashistha. There are many temples of Lord Narayan in India. There is hardly any temple of impersonal Parbrahma. Hindus also worship the goddess of dawn and offer oblations to the fire.

Sage Kaashyapa made prayers to God Vishnu and said: O, Lord! I see the entire universe contained inside your body. O, God! You are without beginning O, God! You are indefinable. O, God! I seek shelter in you. 1-29- 13 This was a good prayers and during the prayers we can describe the moral and metaphysical attributes of God. Hanuman made prayers with joined hands to the Sun-God and also to Lord Indra, the god of wind. Lord Brihaspati has got a sweet moon-god voice. Rama’s mother Kausalya used to make prayers to Lord Vishnu. Rama used to make prayers to Lord Shiva for his success.

The virtuous souled Rama worshipped Lord Vishnu by offering the clarified butter into the ritual fire. 2-6-2 This old practice is still being followed by all the Hindus.

A prayer to Lord Narayan with full concentration was made by Rama and Sita.

After the end of the sacrificial service Rama ate the purified butter. 2-6-4 Hindus eat the remains of the religious services or rites. Muslims are not allowed to eat anything that has been offered to gods.

Sumantra said to Dashrath: May the Sun, the Moon, Shiva, Kubera, Varuna and Agni and other gods bless you with victory. 2-14-52,

Islam tell us that there is no god but God. Unfortunately greetings to angels are offered by the muslim during their prayers. We should say our prayers to God alone. During their prayers hindus say: I bow down before Rama the giver of prosperity and remover of sorrows of all beings.

    THE GAYATRI MANTRA:

The Gayatri hymn is regarded by the Hindus as the greatest verse. It is claimed that Ramayana is based on the twenty-four letters of the Gayatri Mantra. The Gayatri mantra is preceded by uttering ‘Om’. Rig Veda (3.62.10)

Bhooh, Bhuva and Swah refer to the three worlds. The world is single.

It is said that the gayatri mantra was revealed to sage Vishvamitra.

Many Hindus say that the Gayatri Mantra is addressed to the Sun of infinite beauty. Sun was worshipped by the Greeks, Egyptians and other people.

A hindu prayer is made by reciting the Gayatri mantra and it is addressed to Sun (Rig Veda i i i). During the Rama-Ravana war sage Agastya asked Rama to worship Sun-god for victory. Sage Agastya said to Rama: "Sun is Brahma, the creator. Sun is Vishnu, the preserver of the world. Sun is the king of gods and demons. Sun is Skanda, son of Lord Shiva. Sun is a child of Aditi the progenitor of all living things. Sun is Kubera, the giver of wealth. Sun is Yama, god of retribution. Sun is Kala, the Time-Spirit. Sun is Soma, the moon-god. Sun is Varuna, the king of all seas. Sun is a part of nature. God and nature are not identical. God and Sun are two.

Surya (Sun) is inside all men. Sun moves in the sky and it is a source of nourisher of all living things by producing rains. Sun has got golden rays. Sun is the source of light. Sun moves in a fixed orbit. Sun is the maker of the day. Sun is the king of the sky. Sun is the killer of darkness. Sun is the knower of three vedas (viz Rik, Soma and Yajur). Sun is closer to water." 6-105-8, 6-105-10, 6-105-13 Sun is an inorganic thing. An inorganic thing can not know the holy books.

Sage Agastya said to Rama: Sun is the controller of all stars and planets and twelve months of a year are created by the Sun. Sun is the architect of the universe.

All planets came out of Sun or from an orbiting mass of gas clouds. Planets are kept in fixed orbit by the gravitational force of the Sun. Similar remarks were uttered by Plato. Socrates said: Sun is not the sight. However, Sun is the creator of sight. It is seen by the sight itself.

All objects of nature are controlled by the law of cause and effect. All objects of nature are controlled by a single power i.e. nature. God and nature are not identical.

The Gayatri says: Tat savitur varenyam. Om bhur bhuvah svah brago devashya dhi mahi dhio yona prachodayat. The Gayatri Mantra does not refer to the power of the Sun which is visible in the sky. Gayatri mantra refer to the power of the invisible, all-creative, changeless, eternal and all-destroying Parabrahma. God or Godhead is far greater than the Sun. It is better to praise God than to praise the secular and changing Sun. Koran also rejected a worship of Sun as the Sun undergo constant changes. Our worship is most deserved to be made to the Parabrahma. Brahman is a true God and the visible sun is not a true god.

Only Parabrahman is self-luminous. (by His divine light). Stars are self-luminous due to their physical lights. Brahman is unknowable and the visible Sun is knowable. Brahman is changeless and Sun is always undergoing a process of change. Parabrahma is a divine and immaterial being and the visible Sun is a physical thing. The visible sun is an apparent source of all creation. Brahman is the true and only source of all creation and destruction. Brahman is the Truth and the visible Sun is not the Truth. World is Maya. The visible Sun is not a true deity. It is true that sun is the source of our sustenance. The Gayatri verse is a mystical verse. The apparent meanings of this verse refer to the visible Sun. The real meaning of this verse refer to the unknowable Supreme Spirit. Sun worship is not allowed by Islam.

The outer meanings of Gayatri verse refer to the visible Sun and the inner meanings of Gayatri verse refer to the invisible Brahma.

Only Brahman is eternal, divine and self-luminous being and He is worthy of our contemplation. The secular and visible Sun and other stars will one day become black holes. After the Big Bang energy was converted into matter and stars came into existence. Stars are converting matter back into energy. All these conversions are always guided by the law E=mc2

The spirit of Brahman is identical with the spirit which is present inside our bodies. May the Spirit of Brahman move us forward towards a union of our spirit with the Supreme Spirit. We came from earth and to earth we will return back. The spirit of only good people will return back to Brahman. The spirit of evil doers will be lost on this earth.

Hindus perform their morning aarti (prayer with lamps) after taking a bath.

Ramayana is also called as a Gayatri Ramayana. The Gayatri verse is addressed to Brahma. The Gayatri verse is not addressed to the physical Sun.

A worship to Sun is made by the Hindus at the rise of the Sun and worshippers offer a water oblation. Prayers are also made at noon and at Sunset. The Gayatri verse is regarded as a personified mother of all priests, warriors, Sudras and men engaged in commerce. Sudras are also the sons of Gayatri and their rank is equal to that of the brahmins. Men of all castes are equal.

Muslims also make a noon prayer and an evening prayer. The sandhya rite is performed before taking the evening meal.

    GROUP PRAYER:

A group prayers is made by the muslims inside their mosques. Hindus also make a congregational prayer inside their temples and their prayer is presided by a family priest. A sense of unity and a cohesive force is created the congregational prayers. A group prayer is more useful than a prayer made by an individual in his house.

THE IMPORTANCE OF COVERING THE HEAD WITH A CAP OR TURBAN

Muslims cover their heads during their prayer service.

Sikhs also believe that a protection is provided by God by keeping their heads covered with a turban. It is strange that Muslims move around Kaaba in Mecca with their naked heads. Jews also cover their heads.

Majority of the people believe that we enjoy a freedom of the will i.e. our capacity to choose between two alternatives. We are free to choose between the city of God and the city of the world. The Muezzin invites people to prayers by saying that prayer is better than sleep. Rama is a symbol of the city of God and Ravan is a symbol of the city of the earth.

It should be noted that the intellectual ability is a mental and secular quality. Moral quality is different from the mental quality. A thief may be a man of high intelligence. An honest fool is better than a criminal superman. The academical ability is different from moral ability. The doors of God are fully opened even for unlettered people.

During the prayer service eyes are cast down by the worshippers.

During an Islamic prayer a king and a beggar stand in the same row and all men are regarded as equal in the eyes of God. Guru Nanak taught us that all men are equal and all men eat in the same row. Guru Nanak worked for creating peace in the world.

Auspicious words are uttered by Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs before starting a work. Muslims start a new work by saying Bismillah (in the name of God).

Feelings tell us that a man becomes personally purified after making his prayers.

After making prayers a man becomes optimistic with a pleasant face or smile. An inner satisfaction or joy is felt by the heart.

Ravana said to Kumbhkaran: Think about the present. Wise men do not repent for the past. The past is gone. 6-63-25 Wise men always repent for the sins done by them during the past as sins are erased by repenting.

    PROSTRATION AND POSTURES:

Prayers are marked by a fixed sequence of acts. Lakshman spoke to Rama with joined of palms. Hindus make prayers to God with folded hands and they bow down their heads with deep reverence. Respect to God is paid by looking downward.

People bow down in worship. Hands are lifted during the prayers for begging and seeking a pardon from God. A submission and surrender to God is indicated by kneeling during the prayers. Worshippers bow their head on ground as a mark of complete submission and surrender. Pride is best destroyed by submission and surrender to God. A worshipper lie for few minutes on the floor. God is at a higher level and the worshipper is at a lower. Man is like a beggar and God is a giver.

Hindus believe that prostrating and moving around a temple or holy mountain (i.e. Kailash) is a kind of penance. Prostrating does not become a penance unless a worshipper repents for his sins. During the pilgrimage Muslims move around their holy hills.

Ground is touched by Hindus with their eight parts of the body and the head is kept in a downward position. Islam is a submission and surrender to Allah and this is indicated by Sajda.

Bhagwad Gita tell us that prayers made to a personal God are better than a prayer made to an impersonal Supreme Spirit. Hence, prayer is a talk with God.

The plain-speaking Rama said: O, Bharata, the wise! I hope prayers are being are being made for your success by the learned brahmins, citizens of the town and the whole country. 2-60-64 Sage- poet Valmiki wrote Ramayana in sanskrit. Divine sage Narada was also a thoughtful-thinker.

    Polytheism in Hinduism:

Majority of the Hindu deities are a personification of the forces of nature. Prayers should be made to God alone.

A religion becomes weak by polytheism and idolatry. Hence, monotheism is better than polytheism.

Hindus make prayers to the Isht deva (the chief god of the family).

Hindus make prayers to river Ganga, cow, ancestors, Hanuman, Lord Narayan, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and a large number of other major and minor gods.

Rama used to worship Shiva by uttering sacred mantras (holy verses). Om is a symbol of God. We should worship God alone.

Rama was a seeker of truth. Rama spread the holy grass on the sea shore and moved his face eastward. Rama prostrated before the sea with his arms spread like a snake 6-21-1 Rama asked the sea god to appear before him in his personal form. But the ocean did not appear before Rama in his personal form. There is no personal form of sea, mountains, rivers, Sun, moon etc. Hence, Rama was not a God.

Vashista was the family priest of Rama. Unfortunately non-brahmins were not appointed as the family priests. Vedic hymns were uttered by the family priests of the kings. A great importance is given by a priest in pronouncing mantras (formulae) accurately. Hindu priests are generally in saffron clothes and people offer their homage to the sentence-precision priests. The family-priest is honored suitably with clothes, wealth and other gifts. Only learned scholars should be invited to act as priests. The officiating priest received donations from king Dashrath and the priest told him that his sins were erased by his act of charity by him.

    THE FIRE-WORSHIP IN RAMAYANA:

The Fire-worship is done hindus and Parsees. Fire is reverenced by the followers of Zoroastrianism and they do not cremate their dead. Hanuman found that fire was worshipped by the demons in Lanka.

What is fire? The energy of the sun is captured and stored by the plants. Forests were buried into the earth by earthquakes and were converted into coal. The latent energy of the sun is released by burning wood or coal. After the big bang the energy was converted into matter

Stars are converting matter back into energy.

Hindus make prayers to agni (fire-god) and they throw ghee (purified butter) in the sacred flames of the fire altar.

Hindus believe that fire is holy and they perform rituals with flowers and perfumes. Camphor is also thrown into the glowing fire and colored smoke is created by it.
