About this ebook

An anguished mournful sound came from Margareta’s throat as she put her hands over her face and lamented. Vivid memories and thoughts about the last few months both titillated and tortured her mind simultaneously. As she sat in the beautiful surroundings of her quarters in the St Andre castle, she asked herself, ”how can a person be enraptured in love and altogether demoralized at the very same time? How can love still live here in my turmoil inflicted heart? Yet it does, because love rules my soul! Love brought me to absolute euphoria and life has knocked me back into the pandemonium of perceptive reality. The extraordinarily powerful joy of joining spiritual and physical love has forced me to face its human consequences.” How can she tell Christoph, and worse yet, how can she tell her parents? Will she and her unborn child be in danger? She knows they will be, but, how much danger?

    PREFACE

When you were a child, did you ever lie in bed at night and try to fathom forever? Forever means always, and always would be before now and after now. You remember a beginning and you know someday there will be an end to what you know as life. So, what is forever? Have you felt you must have come from somewhere, but wondered where? Is forever somewhere out there that is the universe? Did those that lived before us really die or are they out there in that universe that knows everything, somewhere?

Have you ever wondered who you really are and how you got to be you? Have you thought about the fact that your forebearers formed you and are the reason you are here. Have you ever imagined what the day to day life might have been like for your ancestors that lived before you? Is it possible you are the reincarnate of one of them? If you have lived before, isn’t it likely your soul mates in this life were also soul mates in a past life? Is everything planned right on time? Are we destined to live the lives we are living in just the way we are living them or have there been many possibilities along the way? If every action creates a reaction imagine how different life could be with one small change. An event that would have changed my destiny and my entire family happened many years ago and when I think of it, it shows me just how important every action is and how radically it can change destiny. Several years before I was born, my older sister, who was the seventh child in my family of ten, I am the tenth, was an infant, she was sickly and collicky and my mother was up with her often at night. One night my mother smelled smoke as their house caught on fire. She awoke everyone in the house and two of the five boys were sleeping up in a loft and my parents got them down just in time. My family lost everything, my grandmothers antiques, baby grand piano, all pictures and portraits and my mother recalled her jars of canned vegetables, popping, popping, popping. She never canned again. But, their lives were saved, because my sister was born, because she was sick and my mother was awake. One act of making love, one conception of birth, one collicky baby. If not for those actions, a family would have perished and those of us not born would never have been born. Or, would our souls have come to earth through a different family, a different place, a different body? Nonetheless, my father’s ancestral line would be extinct and I would not be writing this story. My family as I know it would be nonexistent. We are all a small piece of the puzzle that connects the big picture of humankind.

Do we have intuition that guides us and prompts the recognition of a soulmate? Is that what is happening when we feel we have known someone before and have a very strong attraction towards them or a very strong aversion against them? Is time linear or is everything happening at once? Do our souls live outside a linear earthy veil where there is no time and is the veil lifted showing us everything is happening at once upon our death with the demise of our body shell? Will our eyes open to see life in it’s entirely as the soul is released from our bodies at earthly death rather than seeing bits and pieces of earthly experiences in linear time while we are in our bodies? There are many theories and possibilities in and of life. Maybe everything is real and maybe everything is illusion! Is today’s reality the result of the conscious thinking of everyone on the earth now and those that lived before us? Will we all know the answers to these questions someday, but in the meantime live on this beautiful planet called earth, learning and striving and searching for answers? Are all the answers available through intuition if we learn the techniques of tuning into them? Do we spend too much time worrying about tomorrow and feeling guilt over yesterday’s mistakes? What if we just lived in the now, had fun with the past and let the future take care of itself by loving what is, instead of worrying about what might be? Could every problem on this earth be cured with love? If you think about it and delve deep enough below the surface of every horrific action that has caused sorrow, isn’t it either hate, greed or fear that is the motivation, many times camouflaged by a huge inflated self righteous ego. Isn’t love the cure for all of those afflictions? Is love the connection between us, our ancestors and all of eternity? Have you ever wished it was possible to actually meet your ancestors and know them as peers?

Our generation is fortunate because today it is easier to find answers than it was years ago. Many resources are available for us to discover our physical family lineage such as state libraries, genealogy libraries, historical societies, city halls with birth, marriage and death records, churches with baptism and cemetery records, history books, diaries if you are lucky, immigration records, and ancestry websites where others generously share their findings. I find it eye-opening as well as humbling to look back and see what molded us and brought us to where we are today. For me, it gave my ancestors life! As I researched old books and records, I began to witness the perils many of them faced and I grew to appreciate and respect their strength, courage and resourcefulness. I found myself loving them more and more with each discovery. One fact lead to another, that lead to a million more questions. Many of those questions can never be answered, but I can make believe! My curiosity and imagination were peaked! I began to fantasize about what might have been and decided to write my thoughts down and create a story. Many noted facts in history are taken from the perspective of those that wrote them. Many more historical facts have been left out and will never be known. Everyone views situations from their own breadth of knowledge, experiences, and personal desires. Therefore, many heroes will never be known and some not so heroic ancestors have been designated as such, because someone’s eyes saw them that way. In that sense we are all creators of our own reality. With that in mind I write my fictitious history.

My first story is about my fourth great grandmother Margareta Keyser who emigrated from Germany in 1753 to escape social disgrace and possible danger. She was a true pioneer who landed in Broad Bay, Massachusetts, now Waldoboro, Maine to nothing but wilderness and a small settlement of quickly constructed huts that
