CHAPTER ONE
On the night of July 4th, 2016, the sky around Virginia Beach, was lit up by fantastic fireworks. A large crowd watched with excitement. Meanwhile, on a downtown Richmond street, things wasn’t so bright. Though Jack Russell Terriers are a Courageous breed. One in particular was slightly different. That Brown and White year old, was running from two tall men in dark coveralls. The chase ended in an alleyway, when he leaped over a damaged fence. He got a few scrapes, but they would quickly heal.
He’s fast. Boss gonna be pissed off!
Said Man One.
Man Two frowned and gritted his teeth.
Yeah…Very fast. We’re fired!
Both men were mid 30’s, but pretty healthy. An hour later, the terrier crouched on a sidewalk, watching a hot dog vendor. The aroma was stinging his nose. He licked his mouth, then closed his eyes. When he opened them, a stern male’s voice entered the vendor’s head.
Your hot dogs smell great. I’m hungry!
The vendor smiled at him. Then threw him several. He caught them before they hit the pavement.
He looked up at the vendor.
Thank You!
The vendor nodded his head at him, then he ran away. The next morning, he was at an intersection, trying to cross the street. An old grumpy, gray haired, motorist, was inches from crushing him.
"Get out the street … you dumb dog! he yelled
The terrier leaped on his hood, then growled at him, then his voice echoed through his head.
I’m not dumb … you are!
The grumpy motorist, was terrified, and stretched his eyes to the limit. Then the terrier taunted, and commanded him.
"Back the car up … now! Said the terrier.
He backed up, ramming the car behind him. An argument ensued between him, and a younger male motorist he hit. The terrier ran off again. At the city park, Children observed him running back and forth. Later that evening, he emerged from an alleyway. He had patches of dirt, on his body. He crouched on the sidewalk, facing the large window at Jackie Gail’s steakhouse. Inside, patrons was dressed casually. There was expensive dining tables, with candles, and a well stocked bar. Soft classical music, flowed throughout the establishment. In a corner, selected from the window, was Tony McCoy. Tony was 29, tall, muscular, with blue eyes, and trimmed sandy hair. He was an electrician, and had an southern accent. He was married. His wife Gale, was a 30 year old Brunette Librarian. She had brown eyes, spoke proper English, was short, and had a nice figure. Their from North Carolina, trying to enjoy a late anniversary getaway. They have a ten year old son named Brian. He remained with family members. While they waited for their food to arrive, Gale heard the terrier’s voice inside her head.
Hey lady … look out the window!
She quickly put both her hands beside her face. Tony felt something wasn’t right.
