This is a story for South African youth written by Alpheus Chabalala popularly known as Jackson de poet. He was born on the 17th of July 1998 at Mokopane, a township found in Limpopo province. The township Mahwelereng has more than four sections, he lives in Aluta park, attended school at zone 2 and spent many hours at zone 1. He is involved in Slam Emporium PLK a group of poets living around Mokopane, Polokwane and Lebowakgomo. He has been in the journey of writing short pieces since fourteen years of age and got guidance from his former English teachers. Later on, he had the interest in filmmaking whereby he took a fifty seconds screen play from his movie and entered for HIGH SCHOOL LIFE FOR AFRICA competition representing Limpopo and Madibo School and stood a chance of Two thousand rand. ‘’ this is my first book to be published in high school’’
THE PLOT
This story is based on two events, the awful march occurred in twenty fifteen (2015) and the great war that was continuous but became massive in twenty seventeen (2017). It highlights the bad and the good, the outputs of how young love can be distractive and hazardous. Jackson is a young humble man from Aluta Park who is passionate and too focussed, for instance his dream is to become Thandaza’s husband one day and appear on regular shows on television and Live air. He was popular and recognised at edl secondary school. He has been regarded as one of the badly behaving kid at EDL. However, he was recognised by all the teachers as a poet, meaningless and unworthy kid. Some took it as a habit of being a child whereas some thought he is actually bad. He was not easily influenced as he sets his story from negativity, he survived so many distractive activities and used to group himself with bad companies but that never persuaded him. He never allowed anyone to undermine his standard anyhow, however rich Magolide’s family was it never affected Jackson’s mind-set. There was an aggressive and self-centred boy named Maxwell whom used to claim high and responsible for some casual and senseless doings at Madibo, he lived hardly for instance he suffered but claimed for high profile which made the other school pupils feel worthless.
Eventually, Jackson was moved from urban by his father then attended to a certain high school named Madibo where he discovered the shocking situation and terrible services in the school, in this book…you will be able to differentiate between village life and urban as the narrator moved to rural. Even though he left his township, he never forgot about the urban girl named Thandaza. At first they had a bad taste at each other but suddenly fell for each other. At last Thandaza was convinced and they happened to be soul mates.
He hardly made friends amongst the people in rural area. His humbleness was great, but that made him more creative. He had his own space of land in mind where he displayed the unfairness of life. One of the challenges he faced in rural was that most people were not interested in whatever he mated himself on, Except for Shokie, Thabiso, and various classmates. A certain girl at Madibo school who had so many things in common with Jackson. Briefly the story tells about the terrible strike occurred at Volop in twenty fifteen (2015) and the great war between Volop and Lebone village occurred in twenty seventeen. It was caused by misunderstandings that led the Volop residents to take law on their hands and in an unpleasant manner.
Jackson was too focussed and hardly distracted whereby Shokie’s beauty never made him to forget about his neighbour Thandaza. The boy is inspired by the negativity and makes a positive character out of this negativity. He has been down to earth and polite towards people but that didn’t change a fact that he really hates Volop village and said it deliberately, but on the other hand he said a statement clarifying that Volop made him the better person as he discovered challenges of life and unusual timeline. When the world thought he had it all, there was one big mistake he committed… that was introducing himself to young love. When there were promising smiles upon Thandaza’s face! That’s when lies became true… it was too early for him to select a true breed.
Eventually! The society of Volop regained change and peace.
