Bonnie Graves Smith grew-up in rural Oklahoma. She liked school from the first day, because she loved learning and still does. Her Master’s Degree in Secondary Education is from Oklahoma University, and she taught for sixteen years. Bonnie is ninety-two years old and lives happily in an assisted living facility called The Willows. She has two sons who help her.

He will help you, if you trust Him

I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. (John 14:16-17)

But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father. He will testify of me (John 15:26).

This book is a series of true incidents when the Holy Spirit has helped me. He is our guide, teacher, advocate and best friend. A lot of people will think these events just coincidental. Believers know that the Holy Spirit lives within them, and to the extent we allow, will control our lives. We believers love each other and desire to do good deeds. Others are led by Satan and are up to no good. Jesus said, The thief does not come except to kill, and to steal and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and they may have it more abundantly (John 10:10). I have chosen abundant life and have been richly blessed.

Preface

I had been teaching school for sixteen years when my husband was promoted to superintendent at a gas processing plant in Cisco, Texas. Our boys were not living at home, so I had more extra time than usual. I wanted to serve the Lord, but I didn’t know how. I got a big Bible and a bigger Baptist commentary with an account of all of the begets. When I finished reading, I expected God would use me in something important. But I waited and waited, and nothing happened.

Over the years our family moved a lot, and I usually taught Sunday school wherever we went. But when I went through a three-year ordeal with a critical illness, I couldn’t teach. In that time the Holy Spirit nudged me to write about my experiences with the Lord, and I began to really listen to Him, knowing that He is my Holy Helper and is always right. As I waited for my strength to return, the number of articles I felt led to write, grew.

I believe I was anointed to write this book, to bring glory to God the Father, to inspire, to encourage, and to motivate those who read it and trust Jesus completely. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to serve my God; I pray that every reader will be abundantly blessed.
