About this ebook

This story has been with me for a long time—what the Israelite had to do until Jesus Christ became the sacrifice for us. There were cattlemen or ranchers who provide animals for food and wool, so this is one of those stories about a family that provided animals to the city for food and the story of a young lad wanting to do the L-rd G-d’s work while he was on this earth.

He became a rabbi and had a family that became a doctor and rabbi and a housewife who solves mysteries and loves mankind.

Please note that the words L-rd and G-d or L-rd G-d has the O missing because this is a story about the Jewish religion, so I give respect to their tradition of leaving the O out of the spelling of these words.

I am a Gentile and practice the Protestant form of religion and have no Israelite blood or Jewish blood in my veins other than the gaffing into the vine by the blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary.

Anything that you find that is not right, it is an error on the part of the author, for I have only the King James Bible and what I glean from the internet websites and the books in my library and the power of the Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit to guide me. This is where this information came from.

    CHAPTER 1

    The Journey has begun

Benjamin lived in the Land of Kadar (Qidri) that was in North Arabia just west of Babylonia with his Father Abdul from the ½ tribe of Manasseh the second son of Joseph a quit man standing six feet tall and weighting at 190 lbs. and now in his mid –forty’s with some of his ancestors features of the Egyptians that went east over the Jordon River and settled in that area east of the Jordan river after the exodus and with his mother Grace from the same Tribe as her husband with fair skin and hair fire red that set her beauty more, while standing only five feet three inches 120 lbs. it made her look like a picture of fine art if she was setting.

The range that the grass land was on was rich and green for the animals they raised are for food used by the people in the area of the city of Jerusalem and the city itself. So they had to be healthy to bring a good market price they had special handing and care which Benjamin and his Father have been doing since Benjamin was a small lad.

Benjamin and his family lived over 100 miles for the city of Jerusalem which they made the trip ever few years to sell the animals they have raised which was cattle, sheep, and goats. Benjamin had raised a goat that had lost its mother right after it was born so Benjamin become it mother by feeding it by hand until it was able to feed itself and it followed him every place that he goes and this young goat named Toby was trained with commands to act like a trained dog to handle the sheep and other goats, so every place Benjamin went his pet goat Toby was with him at all times. Toby was just over two years old and could do all the things a trained dog could do and even more and would be a great helper too Benjamin on this coming trip.

Benjamin, called his mother, it is time for us to start braking camp and start on our trip so go start doing the things you need to do for our trip. So Benjamin started packing with his pal Toby right by his side all the items that was to fill the pouch with water and knap sack with some small cakes to help on the trip during the long day so Benjamin started helping with the things that need to be done before they could leave.

His father Abdul had all of the animals rounded up and was ready to drive to the Canaan Land which would take a few weeks for the land lying ahead would be rough in some areas for there were mountain ranges that they had to go through before they arrive at their destination.

Life was hard in the Land of Kedar and the trip they took ever few years was beginning to take a toll on Benjamin’s Father Abdul even through Benjamin was only fourteen years old and stood five feet ten inches tall and was slim in statue with reddish blonde hair from his mother, weighting in at one-hundred and sixty pounds, he had a good work habit and enjoyed working at anything that he was told to do.

Because of the area they have been living in, Benjamin had come familiar with three different languages Aramaic, Egyptian and Hebrew his Father Abdul had him late in his life and they still followed the Jewish ways following the teaching of Moses that God had given to him and what the teaching in the Synagogue at Jerusalem they heard while doing business in the City of Jerusalem.

Since the trips are beginning to be hard on his parents and this may be the last trip for they plan on staying in the area of Jerusalem and find some other trade to supply them money for food and clothing all though the money they will earn from the selling of the animals and what they had saved it should last a long time if they were to be conserve on their spending.

The weather was nice on the day that they departed but they figure it would get bad before long because the fall weather was very unpredictable at this time of the year. They had their entire processions loaded and ready for their trip for the sun was saying it was mid-morning and the day would be hard and long before they had a chance to rest.

Benjamin’s father Abdul assigned Benjamin and Toby the sheep and goats, about 100 head to drive behind his mother Grace and her hand maiden Hazel for they would be the ones that would lead the way with the packed animals and the family’s goods, with the provisions to feed them on their trip and the small traveling tent used in the evening when it was time to rest, and his Father Abdul and the helper Temin the husband of the hand maiden Hazel who would drive the cattle about 100 of them behind all of other sheep and goats that Benjamin and Toby would handle on the trip. Benjamin placed the water pouch on his shoulder and knaps sack on his back and with a staff of the shepherd in his hand they started on their trip to the Canaan Land and the city of Jerusalem. Benjamin placed leggings round his legs because of the grass and weeds were tall in some areas and hard to forage through some the time and it would hurt the shin part of the leg and would cut the skin if not protected.

Benjamin and Toby were able to handle the flock and goats without much trouble all through there were a few of the goats that tried to misbehave, but with Toby following the command of Benjamin the first day was uneventful and Benjamin was really tried at the end of the first day and ready for the evening meal and time to lay down with his flock and goats.

It did not take Benjamin long to fall asleep after the evening meal with his pal Toby by his side for they would stay with the flock and goats and sleep under the stars and clear sky all night and then would rise early in the morning to eat and start on their second day with their sheep and goats and cattle to the Canaan Land.

    Day Two

Day two started out right but the cattle was becoming a little restless, but with a firm hand by Abdul and Temin they were able to settle them down without any problems for the rest of the morning.

If the trip didn’t have the animals that needed water they could have just went straight but the water for the Animals they would have to swing to the left and then come to the right and get back on the path they had chosen for the water was not in line for a straight line trip.

Benjamin and Toby was following his mother’s packed animals when about mid-morning a large cat came out the field on his left before Benjamin had time to give a command, Toby saw him first and ran as fast as has could and caught the cat in his side and knocked him a few feet into the air and when the cats paws hit the ground he took off to find his dinner elsewhere. That was the first incident of their trip but not the last.

The afternoon rains stared about middle of the afternoon and they put on their rain gear it was hard to keep the animals from fleeting away because of the rain so they made camp for the evening and hope that the next day would bring fair weather.

Grace and her hand maiden Hazel had a hard time fixing the evening meal but because they had planned on this happening they were prepared for mother always knows best. The rain settled in for the night and Benjamin and Toby made themselves a shelter and was able to keep the sheep and goats quit for the night.

    Day 3

About fifteen miles had been covered, but because of the rain they lost time but there isn’t a time table to follow so it did not matter how much time it takes as long the animals are healthy and safe.

The ground and the grass was wet and the ground was muddy in some places and hard to tread but they have travel this path many times before so they took it in stride and push on the next place for their camp. It was time to find water for the animals once again and as usual it is off the straight path and this time they have to turn right or north to the watering place.

Because there was a village nearby they stopped and purchased a few items they needed at the local markets and then continued on to the watering place after the rain of the previous day they were able to make up a little of the time lost and was able to see the mountain range in the far distance which made for a beautiful sunset and the making the trip more pleasant because if you can’t enjoy what the L-rd G-d has placed on this earth for His and our enjoy then you have missed out on this thing called life.

After the animals had their fill of the water the family continued for a few more hours before calling it a day for the cool of the evening in the valley range was colder than they desired but could endure for they were able to build a fire and cook some warm food for the family for the warm food was well deserved after enduring the wet night and the wet grass they had to travel through to get to where they were today.

So the family enjoyed the evening time and the animals was still behaving and the night sky showed its beauty with the display of its heavenly lights and the night stood still and everyone was able to snooze because of the cool of the evening and the breeze they would feel.

Benjamin woke up during the night with Toby by his side and heard a strange sound like one of the sheep was in pain, so he jumps up to see what was the matter only to find a new born lamb that had just arrived and what a sight did Benjamin eyes did see, a new born lamb setting at his feet. So it added to the number they would be carrying along and Benjamin would help the young lamb along with its mother being close by for its mother would not let it out of her sight.

    Day 4

The closer they got to the mountain range the fog and heavy dew became a bit of problem for it was hard to get an early start for you could not see which way to travel until the sun came up and burned off the mist or fog for the dew would help with the animals per say for it kept them cool at the start of the day and help all the day long and some on the way. The morning was clear and the fog finally lifted and they were able to keep the animals from straying and the cattle did seem to be baying for they seem to be content with the water and grass that was before their eyes and what laid ahead maybe there could become a surprise from the L-rd G-d was in this trip and nothing could be a surprise for the enemy of our L-rd G-d and of you and me can arise at such time as he pleases for he is still a live and will on the this planet called Earth and will try to destroy and hurt those that are trying to do right.

The afternoon everything seem to be going just fine for the sheep and goats, so far they seem to be doing just fine even the new little lamb that just arrive he was doing just fine and will start to grow into a fine young lamb and be special to some young Ladd not doubt.

By the time day four would end they would have travel about thirty-five miles and still had a long ways to go and the mountains would be hard to climb and the days would not be as long for the shadow of the mountains on the other side would cause the days to be shorter. But that would be a few days off for the day four had not come to an end and still had few more things in store.

This area was not traveled very much and seeing other people was rare but today late in the day there came a caravan going the other way and stopped to say hello and was able spend the evening together and speak about what they had seen on travels and news of the day.

The family settled down after the caravan people had departed and Benjamin and Toby found a spot to settle down for the night and before they turned in for the night Benjamin took time to look at what the L-rd G-d had to show them that night for the sky was bright and the moon was like a light and the mountains looked like a silhouette and picture so grand it has hard to stand the beauty it held that night, after a while they laid down in the place they had made and before sleep came upon them and the night passed away and another day awaited them the words came to his mind and he wonder why the sky is so high when you look up into the sky and you can’t reach it with your hand because it so high. As you look up what do you see blue sky and white puffy clouds that is made for rain to water the seeds so that all living things that we see can spread from the seeds that was sown by the winds and storms that the Lord has shown through the darks of night and in the day light to clean the trees’ and land all thing’s we can see and hear, He did them all for you and me and then the words came into his mind and spoke them out loud.

I wonder why the sky is so high and why can’t we see heaven that is in the sky for one of these days the L-rd will come in the eastern sky and take us to His home that is in the sky in the bye and bye. The moon and stars that shines so bright from a distance that you could not reach even in flight but through our mind and such we can see them so close that it feels like they could be touched for they seem so close. The sky at night is not very bright, but when you look up, oh what a sight, with all the things to see the garden He made for the Father to see of celestials, the Milky Way all the things that are far away they are so far we wonder how they are able to stay without decaying away. In the setting of the sun in the western sky oh what beauty can arise with the different color of orange and red with the blue and white does it spread to the far lands it can spread as the days of each desperate just before the night to begins just as they all begin with the L-rd G-ds delight. The day with a peaceful sky can turn to thunders and rumbles and we don’t know why but the land and sky work together to supply the rain from the sky to water so the tree, flowers, animals and us can survive. Does the sky make a sound even through it is round and high above the land does only the birds and the things that human make what you can say is heaven sake the sounds we hear is not far way for the sound we hear are not by mistakes but everyday living for goodness sake, but the sound coming from the sky will come from a trumpet one of these days to call us to meet the L-rd G-d in His day. Then the time of clearing the sky has arrived and new heaven and new earth will abide for the sky will be nothing but a blue sky when this arrives. Then Benjamin and Toby fell asleep until the morning light.

    Day 5

Day five started just as the other days with each person at their station to start the continuing trip to the City of Jerusalem with a prayer to the Heavenly Father for a safe journey as they travel on the way and to thank Him for the blessing He has bestowed upon them so far on this trip and thank the Father for their good health and to keep the animals safe on the way to the land of promise that day.

Grace and Abdul had as their normal routine would discuss the passage they would take the night before during their evening meal for Grace and Hazel would bring the food to Abdul and Temin at their station of watch of the cattle at night and Benjamin was so close to the pack animals he would get his own food after it was prepared and return to watching the sheep and goats.

Benjamin to keep his mind from form going crazy spoke to Toby like he was a person and Toby while Benjamin said his morning prayer would lay beside him with his head on his paws like he was in prayer also, to keep the animals quit Benjamin would play on the flute and sing psalms about the sights he has seen and the beauty that the L-rd G-d had showed and about the City of Jerusalem like he would sing:

Oh Jerusalem, Oh Jerusalem why are you so far away and it takes all these many days to travel down these pathways to find you Oh Jerusalem, Oh Jerusalem the city with walls that was destroyed and now they are restored and ready for all the people to enjoy what you have in store, Oh Jerusalem, Oh Jerusalem the city that is so fine that it’s like looking up into the sky and trying to define what you are from where we are today you seem so far away but in few more days we will be fine for we will be sitting on your streets with all of your charm, Oh Jerusalem, Oh Jerusalem what a sight it will be to see when we see your light shining so bright from the distance it can be scene, Oh Jerusalem, Oh Jerusalem I wish I was there with thee this day and night to enjoy the things you do invite. Oh Jerusalem, Oh Jerusalem city so bright we sing about you with our delight.

Abdul and Temin would converse about various subjects and would also sing folk songs for Temin and Hazel were native of Kedar and sung the things about what he was taught and about his people and what they believed about the land and the animals and all that they have seen to keep themselves entertained and help smooth the way for the cattle as they traveled on their way to the city they called Jerusalem.

Grace and her hand maiden Hazel would have to pick out the best grazing land and to find the largest watering place for the Two hundred plus animals that required water plus some for their own needs.

The trail would become neared and the animals would have to stretch out longer on the trail so it took longer to travel the short distance to the next place with water, although the sheep didn’t require as much water as the cattle for they could go a longer time without water and to find good camping place for the evening with a good grazing of grass for the animals for they must keep them healthy and contend.

It was growing dark fast and they had to find the place for the night and get the animals all into one bunch and not strung out in a long line and just as Grace and Abdul had discussed the plain that they had remembered became into sight and they were able to camp that fifth night with the good grass and water they would need for the next day would take them to the mountain edge and would have to stop after tomorrow and wait because their Sabbath day to be observed on that day for the L-rd G-d give to Moses the law for that day, for it read"
