About this ebook
Apollo's story is not uncommon or unusual. He is to that one person who loves him more than anyone or anything in the entire universe. He becomes her hero, saving her from a fate worse than death, not loneliness so much as being alone. He gave her a life with a purpose, and he still is in writing this book.
“Apollo lives in my heart of hearts. When I look down, I see his paw print.”
Mary Green
Judy was the first born and the one who did everything according to schedule, made the highest grades, wore the prettiest clothes, and would finish college. She married Mickey Bodenheimer in August, 1970 and she had one son, Michael and one daughter, Amy. She has been blessed with 2 granddaughters, Kristen and Madison and one grandson, Cayden. Judy spent many hours volunteering at the Alzheimer’s facility where our daddy lived for just a little over three years. Vickie was the second born, the one that would speak out and tell Daddy the sky was green if he said it was blue. Vickie was always the clown. Vickie was the one that hid her emotions behind laughter no matter how much she hurt. She definitely suffers from the middle child syndrome. Vickie married Tim Halker in February 1970 and had three children, Ashley, Ben and Matthew. Each child grew up and married. She has been blessed with 7 grandchildren, Katherine, Will, Mary Grace, Tyler, Cassidy, Christopher and Eli. She has also been blessed with a great grandson, Ryan. Vickie spent many hours traveling back and forth from Wake Forest to visit with Daddy over the last three years – trips that were often hard to make, but were necessary. Mary was the third born. The baby. Daddy’s pet. She longed to be loved by her daddy and tried to do everything she thought he wanted her to do. She was the spoiled one, and she loved every minute of it. She married Bobby Green in June of 1975 and was blessed with a daughter and a son, Emily and Josh. She was later blessed with two granddaughters, MacKenzie and MacKayla. She spent almost every weekend over the past three years at the home visiting with daddy. Since she worked full time – weekends were hers.

Point of Interest:
I believe in signs. I’m the person who sees a bird fly by and notices if it is a pigeon or a blackbird and feels whether I’m going to hear good news or bad news. That’s me. In any case I see the sign. I feel the joy and the sadness that all of life has to offer. So when I received a call and an email from Jen Heavens with Xlibris on the one year anniversary of Apollo’s move to the beyond, I saw it as a sign to get this book written and published. Of course, it would be different now. I would have to rewrite it. But that was fine and it was perfect timing for me to celebrate his life and for healing to take place.
APOLLO LIVES HERE

T his was always going to be the title. Through all the old manuscripts and attempts at writing this book; it was always going to be Apollo Lives Here
. Only now I see his paw print inside my heart. Now I feel the pain of release and the love of freedom - his and mine.
His journey was a precarious one from birth until about 9 or 10 months old when he found me. Some very nice people who were living in their car knew it was best for Apollo and the Great Dane occupying a portion of the back seat, for them both to find shelter and new permanent homes. I’m sure that was a hard decision not one that I could have easily made either.
But the journey wasn’t over finding a home. Apollo and I would move again and again. I could blame my non-committal sensibility or I could just blame society. Or maybe it wasn’t in the stars. It was not for lack of trying since I truly wanted the little house and white picket fence as well. I thought about making a sign for him that said Apollo Lives Here
and posting it in the yard at a house we had a few years back. It would seem that was not to be either. Yet, my boy stayed with me and went everywhere with me through thick and thin. He loved me and always greeted me with a smile in the morning and at the door when I came home – just as long as he got a bone LOL!
A New Name: At first thought, when I saw him: He’s way too big. He’s Huge
. But actually he saw me first; stopped in his tracks
