& THE CAMEL
Fraudulent Theatrics
The adversary with intent deceives
And misconstrues the facts that he receives.
It is the art and craft of lawyer guild
Intelligence and knowledge to have killed.
So they sidestep, thrust, and parry
Till one opponent, weak and unwary,
Succumbs to the other’s illusive slip.
Then he wounds and sinks his adversary’s ship—
Thus a consequence not of truth but skill,
And by authority of this consequence, he doth kill.
One adverse counter to a thrust
Is to cause the jury to mistrust
In a fact thrust at them in time
For an adverse paradigm.
The dual adversaries continue to react
As prejudicial always to the fact.
The facts are altered and reasoned away
By the most adroit strategist to sway
The jury in the case, or the judge,
Who must wade through this legal sludge.

Limerick Number One
This here is limerick number one.
It’s this dum-ditty, dum-ditty, dum-dum-dum.
I’ll not send it to all, but I’ll send it to some,
And along with it a button I’ll send
As a hidden key to the camel and his poet friend.

I cannot write poetic form,
But in me rages camel storm.
I can feel, and I can sense
But cannot stand for my defense,
For camels are but to serve
And no justice do we deserve.
When our feelings cause us grief,
Our senses do not find relief.
Deep within we hold the grudge—
The driver alone is the judge,
And he has not camel feelings
To sympathize with humane revealings.
The driver does not see us camels;
He looks at us as only herd
mammals.
As the common herd, we are oft referred;
To make us as if we’re not, we’re sold and bought,
But we some day shall take a stand
As swallowed camels in this land.
They have strained at gnats long enough
And swallowed us camels with their stuff.

The Fugitive Camel to his Poet Friend
The fugitive camel to his poet friend,
I here jot down and quickly send
This note from a distressed herd mammal,
An oppressed and itinerant camel.
I’m a watcher—I surely am—
Of the legal soup from your Uncle Sam.
