About this ebook

Bible Discoveries and Revelations is a compilation of Bible mysteries that the author was compelled to research and interpret himself due to his mistrust in individual church doctrines and their misguided Bible interpretations. The author asks this question: can two people look at the same evidence and come up with two different conclusions? This appears to be the true problem with Christianity.

The reader will discover what the Bible really says about the tribulation, what truly was the thorn that tormented Paul, the true name of God, the location of the kingdom of God, also including too-numerous-to-mention topics not normally discussed in church. Bible Discoveries and Revelations comprises over sixty-two chapters of individual Bible topic studies written by a spirit-filled recovered alcoholic addict with over thirty-three years of sobriety.

After reading Bible Discoveries and Revelations and applying the principles outlined within, it is the sincere hope of the author that you find the power within yourself that he found, which allowed him to walk away from cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol. The author was forced into early retirement and told he had three years to live in 2003. Fourteen years later after three strokes, two heart attacks, six heart surgeries, and finally diagnosed with diabetes in 2015which miraculously disappears in thirty dayshe claims to have found a useable power that heals, guides, and protects his life to this very day. Bible Discoveries and Revelations is written from a skeptical viewpoint, not from a brainwashed seminary student or doctor of theology. To the author, it is not true unless you can show Bible and verse. Your burning questions about prophecy, does God test man, and can America be found in the Bible will be shown to you in Bible Discoveries and Revelations.

    Preface

At the time of this writing I had been attending church off and on for over sixty years. Unlike school where you are encouraged to study, and given assignments, with the ultimate goal of meeting some basic standards of learning resulting in graduation. The churches I have been associated with in sharp contrast lecture with no apparent goal in mind but to save souls. Don’t get me wrong the salvation of souls message of repentance is a very good message but once you have repented and been saved becomes — mind numbingly unnecessary and nap inducing. Once you have been told you are going to hell unless you change your ways: you then properly respond to that message, only to return the next week to hear the same slightly changed message repeated. The churches told me to keep coming back without providing any workable plan or a means to measure growth or success. I full well understand the importance of saving souls and preaching to the unsaved but for me —being Spirit filled, I compare the experience to being stuck in Kindergarten. During the course of those sixty years I do not recall a single sermon on how to study the Bible. I do not recall a single sermon on the importance of our thoughts nor the process of how the mind is renewed. It was not until alcohol and drugs brought me to a point in my life where I became desperate and teachable that the seed of understanding was planted. Alcoholics Anonymous introduced the idea that all thoughts can either build or destroy, with this foundation I began to develop my relationship with God as I understood Him. While I assure myself there are some very fine churches in Kansas City Missouri with hundreds to choose from— I constantly make poor selections regarding a spiritual home for me and my family. My Grandfather told me something when I was very young in life —I quote him to this very day: —don’t eat at a restaurant with an empty parking lot; it is empty for a reason. I have come to find that this statement also applies to churches as well. Dead or dying churches exist across the landscape of our country for a variety of reasons. Mega-churches are only slightly better offering many opportunities for service but a generic populist message targeted for the Pre-schooled; with little to spiritually feed the slightly more advanced. I began to rationalize maybe I should concentrate on feeding others instead of being fed. My message was not well received and I was asked to leave many meetings and congregations. Believe it or not I am partially encouraged by rejection. Jesus explains I will suffer for His names sake, and if criticism is all they can come up with — bring it. This then begins a cycle of me returning home to lick my wounds and developing a preference of being ministered to by the un-judgmental television evangelists and their congregations. I begin studying in private venturing out on occasion to test the church waters. I regret to report the attacks I endure have come entirely from the Christian community obviously considering themselves righteousness above all. Church I find is far different from Alcoholics Anonymous where all are welcome and tolerated. As I leave AA to bring my message to every believer my interaction with individuals at church leads me into recommended membership into small tightly knit study groups. Alliances are formed, clicks established, judgments made. Once my Bible study interpretations are rejected based on personality or lack of understanding I am labeled as a Christian Scientist or some other cultist religion follower and shunned.

With the assistance of the Holy Ghost I search for the truth in all things. The writings contained within represent decades of study and re-write. As I grow my beliefs evolve. I highly recommend running all my interpretations past your own Holy Ghost for verification trust no ones word including my own regarding your salvation, the stakes are too high

    My Genesis

Is it possible for two or more people to look at the exact same evidence and come up with different conclusions? This is the Christian’s problem. Different viewpoints are the reason we as a religion have over 900 translations of the English Bible and hundreds of different denominations of Jesus Christ’s Church. This problem finds its root in the perspective of the viewer; perspectives are driven by factors of age, education, experience, preconceived ideas, confidence in ones own judgment, spiritual pride that is born of academic distinction, and driven by fear of public ridicule, to just name a basic very few. Who is right? At this point in my life I can only trust the King James Bible and the Spirit that resides within me to discover what’s true. So where does my perspective find its roots?

I am a born again Christian evidenced by the speaking in tongues; 67 years old at the time of this writing. I am a 30+ year recovered alcoholic and drug addict used to smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day; I found God in a smoke filled AA meeting September 9, 1984 and give all credit to God by introducing me to the 12 step program of recovery called AA. Twelve years ago I was told I had 5 years to live, it was recommended that I get my affairs in order and take an early retirement; some have used the word miracle when talking about me. Strokes I have had three; the last adversely affecting my speech, heart attacks two, diagnosed with diabetes which is now gone —also described by doctors as a miracle. Amongst other physical hurdles I battle with weight issues; I used to say with a smile that I quit smoking, drinking, and drugging to take up competitive eating while my weight blossomed to 320 pounds. I placed my faith in God and never wavered. To this day I believe I was just chasing my addictive, compulsive behavior from one problem to another without addressing the real problem of emptiness. I was soon able to lose over 100+ pounds only to regain it back on 3 separate occasions this experience only tempered my faith; I began to slowly understand that losing weight and keeping it off are three separate problems: abstinence, constant vigilance, and patience now by the grace of God I continue to sustain a healthy weight to this day. I am a walking talking Bible believing born again tongue speaking example of the grace of God.

One day it became clear to me after watching a debate by 4 Bible scholars on the topic of the rapture all having different beliefs and claiming the Bible supported their position it became clear to me that it was time for me to do my own investigations. I can no longer trust scholars relying on their academia while obviously ignoring their own spiritual unction’s. I believe they have their books to sell, reputations to maintain and congregations to please. I only seek the truth. The following few words make up my study and interpretation formula: I prefer making interpretations by looking up the actual Greek and Hebrew words with the occasional English Webster Unabridged thrown in. I then check all English translations via: Biblegateway.com looking for consensus of the brightest Bible interpreters; then a heart felt prayer of understanding and a profound reliance on the Spirit that resides within me and when I feel the Spirit leap for joy I know I have discovered the truth.

Where does inspiration come from? Are thoughts merely a chemical reaction occurring in our brains? A little water, salt, vitamin K, and iron, pour it in a bucket then shock it with a small charge of electricity out springs a thought: then presto- change-O the concoction invents a time machine, or a new power source.

The Bible describes mankind as Spirits possessing a soul and living in a body. Some truly enlightened believe that our bodies are merely containers allowing our Spirits to exist and evolve on this physical plain. I have come to believe that our thoughts are not merely chemical reactions pulled from thin air but resulting from interaction with Spirits. Alcoholics Anonymous has an acronym HALT to help with our understanding of feelings regarding actions; the new members when making critical decisions are told to HALT which stands for don’t be too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired before making big decisions. This practice recognizes the bodies discomfort can influence your thought process; for examples: by going to a grocery store hungry you are subject to spend more money than you intended. When tired you are subject to making a hasty decision based on your desire to sleep. The body is a crying baby demanding to be heard and obeyed. When the body is demanding attention all other helpful thoughts or unction’s are drowned out. When you are angry thoughts of revenge flood your being and often times reason does not exist for you. True inspiration comes from your soul’s interaction with these very spirits. Some may argue that these —emotions; as some prefer to call them are not spirits but God given emotions. You are being deceived. I will mention here that the Bible describes hundreds of spirits, Satan is a spirit, and the Bible did not take the time to name every spirit in existence. So how do we know when we have unction it is from God? This is the Christians single biggest problem. Being Spirit filled I labored under the belief that every thought I had was from God; I cringe about that false belief turning into action to this very day —I was believing a lie. Spirits are deceitful and oftentimes represent themselves as being honest truthful and just; the Bible proclaims even the elite can be deceived. Your only defense is the Word of God, i.e. the truth. Hopefully you will read truth in the following pages. I used to believe —since I was born again, when I asked God for inspiration every thought I had immediately following that request was from God. I find this worth repeating:—I laugh at that belief today. Satan is a spirit also and communicates much the same way as God does. Satan will twist the Word of God depending on your mood and rely on your ignorance of scripture to steal your soul. I have come to believe that most good honest Christians have lies sprinkled along their path some of those lies are very small and benign, once accepted the unsuspecting person will make decisions based on those lies being the truth and the paradox begins.

During my short time at college I did hear one thing that has made a profound difference in the way I have conducted myself around others throughout my life and it will become increasingly evident to those that choose to continue reading: Bible Discoveries and Revelations. In class one day a professor announced that there had been a study done recently that had determined a person had to hear or read an article three times in order to remember it. Whenever I make what I feel is a critical point you will discover that point made numerous times in possibly different chapters. It is not me forgetting I have already discussed the topic by repeating myself; — if you notice those re-runs it is me doing what I have been taught and the way I teach.

    Steven you talk too much!

I have been a member of my neighborhood church for over twenty years. It is a small church perhaps one hundred fifty members, seventy of which miss less than five Sundays a year. Over the last five years I have been a member of the elite group of seventy. I am embarrassed to write anything about my attendance regarding the fifteen years prior to that. I will merely say I worshipped and studied in private.

I began to believe God had been moving me to become more active in my church and community. I began attending several Bible study groups, I offered to become chairman of the building and grounds committee taking care of the maintenance of my church, and I was sponsoring several individuals in AA, and additionally worked with the homeless at the downtown mission in Kansas City MO. One day I personally approached our newly-graduated-from-seminary-Doctor-of-theology-minister and asked for fellowship and study on a slow day for him (a Tuesday afternoon); he responded with a smile, our study and fellowship including the group’s composition grew over many months.

One Tuesday afternoon after study my minister asked if I would stay for awhile; he wanted to talk to me in private. —A deacon of our church has approached me with a complaint about your participation in his Bible Study group. He says you talk too much and dominate conversation in his group. I fold my hands bow my head; it is about to get worse.

—Steven I don’t think you fully realize how intimidating you can be. You are loud, pushy, and your sarcasm, is oftentimes hurtful. You need to be more like me; quiet, attentive, listen more talk less, and for goodness sake be more understanding.

I leave his office in silence; I am filled with doubt. Every word that was spoken is true. I know I can be a handful to deal with because I speak with authority. Some say my message is blunt and rude: — I prefer to view it as honest and truthful. I am loud; — some view that as angry, I believe the truth about my volume is: —I speak with emotion, when I raise my voice apparently people tremble. I can dominate conversation in a study group, but as I see it: —a question is asked; I’ll wait an appropriate amount of time while watching others stare at their shoes I’ll break the silence and contribute. I am seen as a know-it-all, evidently; —an- arrogant-know-it-all to top it off.

I now feel sorry for myself; am I the only one who understands the gravity of the situation? I am talking about salvation and life eternal, understanding Bible scripture has been raised to the level of life and death to me! My anger and frustration has now opened a door and allowed an evil influence to begin to direct my thoughts; maybe I should leave this church and find another; start anew. I have had that thought before in times of trouble; to run away from a problem does not solve the problem it just changes the problems location, no matter where I go; there I am: —get thee behind me Satan.

I now know truly what the minister and a few esteemed members of my congregation think about me; but what does God think? Time to pray: God grant me the knowledge of what you would have me do and the power to do it. —Now I wait.

I have discovered the number one method God uses to communicate with me is scripture. God has also used dreams, sermons, television, radio, and random individuals that cross my path. —Sit quietly and know that I am God is one of my favorite Bible verses. I have come a long way since I was a child seeking Gods direction. When I was a teen seeking direction I would close my eyes, ask for guidance and open the Bible randomly and start reading. Now quite a bit older my understanding and methods have improved. As I fill my mind with bible verse I give the Spirit that dwells inside of me words-to-bring-to-mind. I begin my meditation: Lord Do I need to change? Do I speak too much? After a few days two phrases come to my mind, —every hair on my head and— Satan takes the word. Time to turn to my King James for clarification:—…Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. (Mark 4:15, KJV)

As I meditate on Mark 4:15 a different perspective is formed regarding the deacon and my new minister. I previously believed that the minister and a few of the congregations elect wanted me to be still; but according to Mark quoting Jesus; Satan wants to silence me. The first point I would like to make regarding Mark 4:15 is Good Christians i.e. ministers, and congregation members can’t always be held accountable for some of their initial reactions when receiving counsel from suspect sources, Satan and his followers. I am frequently tempted by Satan including any number of his followers. If you have never run into Satan during the course of your day it is probably because you are both headed in the same direction; —quoting a very wise mentor of mine. I no longer see criticism or wrong being done to me from the congregation. I see a feeble attempt from forces of evil to silence my message.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24, KJV)

I must also mention here that Satan is also a spirit and is worshiped and communicates much the same way as God communicates. All Christians reading this be on the look out: Satan will also quote scripture but changes words here and there to deliberately deceive. I am Spirit filled and tempted often, Jesus was tempted. Even the born again can be deceived and lied to. When a spirit communicates to a person the trick is to know if it is a good or an evil spirit. Experience has taught me not every thought I have has come from God. —for false Christ’s and false prophets shall rise and show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. (Mark 13:22, KJV)

But even the hairs of your head are all numbered… (Luke 12:7, KJV) —Upon meditating on Luke 12:7, it becomes clear to me that no one knows me better than God. Others would have me be someone else. Recommend changes in behavior; and criticize Gods handy work, God knows exactly who I am. He is well acquainted with my arrogance, sarcasm, faults, vulgarity, and beliefs. I must have been chosen for exactly those qualities there can be no other explanation. God evidently has numerous souls willing to sweet-talk or; kill-you-with-kindness; not to mention the new kid on the block political correctness. When God places you in my path I must be exactly what you need. I was raised up in the school of hard knocks, and believe in tough love, if you need my message you must need precisely what only I can offer at that time. My message is in sharp contrast to the current minister of my church.

No matter who you are or what you have become God can use you. Your message is your message and may not be for everyone, your message is as they say in the used-car-sales-business:—a butt for every seat. Everyone wants to be well thought of and liked; my desire to change, or please everyone, and become politically correct is now gone. My perspective has changed, I have always understood that my message is not everyone’s cup of tea, but all that matters now is that God loves me, and He has chosen me, I even would like to believe now that:— He carries my picture in His wallet.

    Infallible

I made a serious mistake in this evenings Bible study. I announced that I believed a particular portion of scripture that we were studying was in error: —and it came to pass after forty years… (2 Samuel 15:7, KJV)

In my wife’s Life Application Study Bible King James Version; the commentary on 2 Samuel reads: The time period was probably four years, not forty years, David’s entire reign lasted only forty years according to 2 Samuel 5:4.

Immediately there was outrage; —the Bible is inerrant. There are no mistakes in the Bible! I have clearly struck a nerve. This class is clearly not ready to hear the truth, someday maybe. This is a hot button topic for many low information Christians, regarding the topic of errors and apologetics. Low information Christians desire to be the defenders of the Word of God and for this reason I avoid the conversation of errors when ever possible. Low information Christians that want to argue about the subject of errors and omissions in the Bible; I have come to realize rarely have even read the entire Bible; not to mention books on the topic of errors in the Bible; and by the way there are many.

There are only two master document choices for your Bible: the Textus Receptus & Septuagint Translation, this is the fragmented collection of documents that the King James Version of the Bible is derived from. The Codex Vaticanus & Sinaiticus Translation, accounts for all remaining Bible translations excluding the King James Version. The Vaticanus fragments are stored at the Vatican in Rome hence the name Codex Vaticanus. The Vaticanus fragments; which account for the majority of all modern day English translations once thought to be the most accurate; have since been revealed to be incomplete.

So what is the truth? As a student of the Bible I have come to terms with the statement Bible inerrancy. Actually to my way of thinking this is a problem of semantics. Semantics according to the dictionary is: The study of meanings: Inerrancy as defined by the dictionary is: —Lack of error. To say the Bible is inerrant is to say not one single error exists in its pages. My current pastor explained to me one day while discussing the topic of errors; that over the centuries all of the errors have been found and corrected; — really. Capitalization errors abound in the Bible. The one true God is frequently referred to as he with a small h; my pastor denies that capitalization errors are actual errors; this is in direct contradiction of Ms Jones at Cleveland Elementary who taught me that God is clearly a capitol H —He.

Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel (1Chronicles 21:1-4, KJV) —who moved David in (1 Chronicles 21:1-4, KJV)? Answer: Satan; There is a second account of this same story, this shows a grammatical error attributed to man and shows in part where all errors come from in the Bible; —MAN. This error is found in the NKJV which leaves me wondering about all those centuries of previous error correcting?

Again the anger of the LORD was aroused against Israel and [He] moved David…. (2 Samuel 24:1, NKJV [prentices added mine]) —Who moved David in (2 Samuel 24:1, NKJV)? Answer: Satan the capitol H should be a small h. I might make a short comment here mentioning that my KJV translated this particular bible verse correctly by using a small h in (2 Samuel 24:1, KJV). This is evidently not an error using my pastor’s analogy; that was laying in wait over the centuries, found and corrected. Instead of being exposed to decades of examination; the New King James Version of the Bible is a relatively new translation containing its own share of typographical, grammatical, and translation problems. These inerrancies have the fingerprints of fallen man all over them.

I believe the word choice of inerrancy is a poor choice describing the Bible; the best word choice upon my closer examination and understanding would be infallible. The dictionary defines infallible as: Absolutely trustworthy or sure, unfailing in effectiveness or operation, certain. The word Inerrancy; I believe is too general a word and can be applied more to the carnal physical endeavors proofreading, transcribing, translating, and typesetting. Infallible in my opinion applies more to the written spiritual message. The two words I believe divide responsibility of the total work involved in writing the Bible. Man had a part in the transcribing of the Bible, a physical part. Man is not perfect, which means his work is prone to error. God on the other hand was well aware of man’s shortcomings and was able to work around his shortcomings, to reveal His infallible message. This explains Matthew quoting Jesus:—Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. (Matthew 7:7, KJV)

Jesus knew the true depth of the fallen man, and that the real message is sometimes hidden, buried, disguised, and/or deliberately misleading, by uninspired translators, and others with hidden agendas, but He promises that the truth will always come to light for those that are sincere and seeking the truth. Jesus was well aware of the poor interpretations of the Scripture; an example is written in Matthew quoting Jesus:—Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, thou shall not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you that whosoever is angry with his brother… (Matthew 5:21-22, KJV)

It is in Matthew that Jesus explains: you have been deceived and told one thing I tell you the truth. The truth is: being angry rises to the same judgment level in the eyes of God as murder.

There will be those that will claim Devine inspiration by all souls involved with the transcribing, translating, typesetting and proofreading of the Bible. To me (if that were true), that should translate into perfection, and perfection does not exist considering this single example regarding the interpretation of he; in (2 Samuel 24:1, NKJV)

Consider this: most Translators claim direct inspiration from God. Do you actually believe God would tell them one thing and you another? God uses specific words with specific meanings:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue… (Proverbs 18:21, KJV)

And God said let… and spoke all life into existence in the first chapter of Genesis. No one knows or understands the power of words better than God, but man never tires at trying to improve the already perfect Word of God, through so-called new and enlightened interpretations.

The following example would be one example of word replacement theology resulting in hundreds of different new and improved English Bible translations:

I believe that God is the same today as yesterday and as that statement is scriptural (Hebrews 13:8) why would God change His mind from Bible to Bible? Either God means what He said or He doesn’t. In (Daniel 4:17, Daniel uses the term Watchers; out of fifty translations twenty two translators agree the correct interpretation of the Word of God is watcher. Five enlightened translators reportedly divinely inspired from God removed the word watcher entirely from their translated Bible verse. I can only imagine that they believed God thought He had made a mistake, changed His mind and told the translators delete this word it is no longer important. The remaining twenty three divinely inspired translators claim God told them the correct interpretation of the word is divided between; Holy Angels, Observers, Guardians, Watchful Angels, Messengers, Holy Ones, Watchmen, Holy Watchmen, Sentinels, Angels, and Sifters.

Bible inerrancy is a huge Bible topic among King James Version purists. Much has been written:

If the Foundations be Destroyed by Chick Salliby

Look What’s Missing by David Daniels

Lets Weigh the Evidence by Barry Burton

New Age Bible Version by Gail Riplinger

One Book Stands Alone by Doug Stauffer

    Just to name a few.

I had become interested in Bible omissions while doing a study on which Bible is the best fit for me. At the time of this writing I believe there are over 900 English translations of the Christian Bible. During my research I discovered terms describing some of the reviews regarding some of the translations as partial, or incomplete.

For those who are unaware: there is a curse located in Revelation concerning missing scripture John writes in Revelation:

And if any man shall take away from the words of this prophecy, God shall take away his part in the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:19, KJV)

There will be those that will call my interpretation of Revelation 22:19 in error; and only pertains to the Book of Revelation, and does not include the other books of the Bible. Moses writes in
