Kevin M. Isaac is a senior career diplomat and the current St. Kitts and Nevis High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. He is a former Chevening Scholar and has previously published three books of poetry: Whispers of Silence (1998); Memories in Serenade (2010); and Breakfast with my Fathers (2014).

"Chasing Footsteps," celebrates life and memorable moments. I dedicate it to the memory of my Mother and my immediate family whose love strengthens and sustains me with reminders that Life is still the best place to live.

Through this collection, I celebrate the wonderful people – dear friends and relatives – on whose shoulders I have stood all these many years. They know who they are, and I thank them profusely for being such willing surrogates for my dreams and journey.

Also, special thanks to my dear friend and brother, Michel Masih QC for sharing his provocative thoughts on this collection.

Acknowledgement

It is said that the wise see the world as an illusion and by not acting as if it were real, manage to escape unnecessary suffering. I do believe that life is much more than that and must be lived and seen in balance.

In this Collection, through the lenses of my favourite pastime - verbal photography - I try to capture the continuum of life, in all its forms, without subjective distinctions.

As this Collection was taking shape, I recall gentle reminders seeping into my head and constantly saying to me that life is an amazing journey to be discovered and travelled. I was reminded that no one life is better than the other because each life is special, deliciously unique and must be pursued with vigour. I do believe strongly that we have a responsibility to pursue our own dreams and follow our own paths. Therefore, we must all remind ourselves to remember never to forget to enjoy life; if necessary to tame it, cajole and exploit it – but always on our own terms.

Through this Collection, I extend an invitation to you to keep an open mind, step out of your comfort zone and join life’s amazing journeys – open to whatever comes next. Chasing Footsteps dares you to think differently, to celebrate life and to reveal the true you to yourself and to the world.
