About this ebook
Her world stopped. She fell silent and numb to the fancy words characterizing the cancer lurking in her body. She sat on the edge of her bed with fear and disappointment in her tears, shouting to God, This is not what I asked for. God, this is not what I asked for! In that moment, she realized who she was talking to and who she is in him. She reaffirmed her faith in God by saying, But Im still gonna trust you.

Demetrica L. Jefferis
December 26, 2013, Demetrica L. Meechie Jefferis was officially diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ, in both breasts. Three months earlier, on her 43rd birthday, the Lord told her to perform a breast self- examination. She attributes early detection of her cancer and a cancer-free life to God choosing to speak to her, and obeying His command. As a result of her journey, Meechie established a breast cancer support group to assist other survivors and their families through their journeys. She continues to support breast cancer survivors and their families, locally and nationally. The Chicago native retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of faithful service. During her tenure, she traveled throughout the United States and abroad. She also deployed in support of many operations such as NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM.

PREFACE
21.jpgAt the height of my military career - Taken at the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Montgomery, AL (June 2012)

Whatever was required to make a difference in the lives of Airmen and their families, I did it. I was all about changing lives and making a difference…just busy! But after having a bilateral mastectomy January 30, 2014, I was forced to lay down, sit down, and slow down. It didn’t take long before the recovery process started to wear on me. Two weeks after my surgery, Wednesday morning, February 12, 2014, I
