Down Bad Too - Deborah Collins

    Chapter 1

    TC

My nigga, it isn’t even this serious over some pussy. I’m trying to get some sleep and you’re at our door with this bullshit. If you aren’t gonna use that muthafucka, let me get back to bed dawg. Julius stated in a rather calm tone for a nigga who had a .22 pointed at his dome.

Julius was in a pair of Nike shorts and some slippers, with no shirt. The muthafucka looked hungry the way his fucking ribs were showing. I’m not sure what the fuck Carmen was grabbing on at night because Julius was bony as fuck. Shiddd, Carmen probably weighed more than that nigga her goddamn self.

I was standing there pointing a gun at a nigga in the middle of a thunderstorm. I didn’t give a damn if lightning struck my stupid ass. Thank God Carmen had a cover over her front door because I would have been soaked trying to reclaim my woman. I simply had come to discuss with Carmen what we were supposed to have discussed before I just up and left Houston.

I should have taken my stupid ass to church with my big dog Gooey like I had planned to do. But instead, I let the devil use me and drove my dumb ass all the way back to Hammond, Louisiana, in the name of love. I was about to be doing a life sentence behind a muthafucka that didn’t even give a fuck about my existence. I had spent all of my hard earned cash on her over the weekend, just for her to return home to the nigga that fucked over her. The only drug I’ve ever used was marijuana, but I was acting like a nigga gone off that heroin. I was ready to blow Julius’ brains clean out of his head, but those judges were throwing the keys away on muthafuckas. I knew that they wouldn’t hesitate to make an example out of my stupid ass.

Guide me to Carmen my nigga. You even move wrong, I’mma light yo’ bitch ass up. I told Julius.

I walked slowly through Carmen’s front door and followed behind Julius with the gun pointed at his back. Seconds later, we both stood over a sleeping Carmen. She was sleeping peacefully with her lamp on. Her room looked like something out of a home interior magazine. I felt even lower for all of the low budget hotels I had taken her to in the past after seeing this shit. Carmen still had her edges. I had seen so many bitches with bald spots peeking from under those damn hair bonnets. She was so beautiful and rare: the main reason two niggas stood over her while she slept, battling for her heart.

Carmen! Wake yo’ ass up and see what this crazy muthafucka want! Julius threw a verbal jab at me and turned on the light in the bedroom.

If you don’t cut that damn light off! Where you headed to? Carmen talked out of her head, still half asleep. She covered her face with the sheets to block the light. She was lying on her side.

Carmen! Julius yelled once more, this time louder.

Carmen sat up in the bed frantically, squinting her eyes. Who the fuhh… What the fuhh. What the fuck are y’all niggas doing? Carmen yelled out. Her eyes got buck.

The sight of seeing Julius and I standing there woke her ass all the way up. The gun in TC’s hand startled Carmen. TC, why are you at my house, and with a fucking gun at that? If you don’t leave right now I’m calling the police! You’re too old for this childish ass shit! Carmen yelled, visibly angrier than scared. Carmen was still willing to curse me out, even with a gun in my hand. She wasn’t scared of shit.

Her little ass had way more heart than her ol’ man, Julius.

Carmen, get dressed and come with me before I shoot your bitch ass fiancé, or whatever this nigga is to you. If you come with me, I’ll let him live. I just wanna talk to you baby. I told Carmen flatly.

Nigga I asked you to shoot me minutes ago. Yo’ broke ass must couldn’t buy no bullets. Julius stated sarcastically.

He had his dreads in a hair bonnet, looking like a bitch and was trying to be a comedian. That bitch ass nigga thought he was prettier than Carmen.

Ju, give me a second to hear him out. I don’t want anybody to get hurt. TC please step out of the bedroom so I can put some shorts on and I will listen to what you have to say. You’re gonna have to leave after that. Julius is my fiancé and this shit is totally disrespectful. You know you’re out of line.

    Carmen read me my rights.

Girl, I done seen every part of your body just like you’ve seen every part of mines. Stop the fucking madness. I told Carmen. I wasn’t buying the speech she gave me.

Julius grew frustrated hearing me talk about being intimate with Carmen. He probably would have rushed me if I didn’t have my pistol. If there was one thing a nigga hated, it was visioning another nigga hitting his bitch. That was the whole reason I said what I said. I just wanted to remind him who hit it first like my nigga Ray J.

Y’all have three minutes to discuss whatever y’all need to discuss. Don’t forget I’m right outside of the door and I don’t mind shooting a design in this muthafucka. Play y’all cards however y’all want to and I will react accordingly. I calmly warned Carmen and Julius. They probably didn’t know I was that intelligent.

I stepped out of the room to give Julius and Carmen their privacy. I felt like Carmen owed me an explanation and I owed her one as well. I felt that the sooner I told Carmen that I fucked her best friend, Danity, the sooner we could move on. I couldn’t tell her that with Danity present though. That’s why I didn’t wait around like Carmen initially planned. The way Danity was eager to give me that pussy last night, I knew it wouldn’t be long before she was back for more. Her pussy was alright, but it wasn’t any better than the average bitch I’ve hit in the past. Plus, I heard how she be donating that pussy like a charity. I could do without it. Now, Danity is pretty as hell, but I want who I want.

Y’all have one minute left before I start shooting. I let Carmen and Julius know how much time they had left on the clock.

About thirty seconds later Carmen came walking out of the door with some black Nike shorts and a white camisole on, with a cross body Coach bag. She left her hair bonnet on her head, probably out of fear of wetting up her bob. She was wearing some black Michael Kors rain boots. Carmen shut her room door and swiftly walked out of her house. She got in the passenger seat of my car to get Julius out of harm’s way. I guess Carmen knew that I wasn’t going to harm her, so she didn’t hesitate to go with me and hear me out if it would spare Julius’ life. I got in the driver’s seat and shut my car door.

Are you kidding me right now, TC? So you’re about that life now to the point where you’re coming to people’s houses, holding them at gunpoint? You’re down bad TC and you know it. I would have never imagined you stooping so low. I thought you had changed for the better. I hate that I ran into you in Texas if this is what it had to come down to. Carmen immediately gave me a piece of her mind.

She looked straight ahead the whole time she was talking. I was still trying to crank the damn car. Julius pussy ass didn’t even come behind her to save her. Any real nigga was gon’ come 100 behind their girl, and their main girl at that. Julius should have never let her out the door with me. That nigga didn’t give a fuck about Carmen. I backed out of Carmen’s yard with the gun sitting in my lap, praying this Lil’ muthafucka didn’t grab the gun and shoot my ass first while I was driving. I made a right onto OBR Highway and drove slowly to our destination. The last thing I needed to do was hydroplane while it was storming. I didn’t need to bring any unneeded attention to the situation.

Carmen, before you got out of my car last night, at the hotel, you told me that we could discuss being together today. Why did you lie if you knew that wasn’t even an option? You’ve played with my feelings long enough. I’m tired of this shit. I got right to the point with Carmen. At this point Carmen had her arms crossed.

Who spends one night with someone and falls in love enough to pull off such an act as this? I haven’t had sex with you in months, TC. You should be past all of this shit. I wish you the best in everything that you do, but I am in a relationship right now. You’ve waited way too long to get your shit together. I won’t front like shit is perfect at home with Julius, but we’re working to get there. Carmen replied. I could hear the sincerity in her voice. She was right, but I was hurting.

Carmen, if Julius gave one fuck about you, you wouldn’t even be in this car right now, riding with a nigga who has a loaded gun in his lap! You’re that dick whipped yo? I questioned Carmen’s sanity.

I really didn’t give a fuck how rude I sounded. I just wanted to open her eyes up to her reality. Carmen real deal wasn’t trying to fuck with me on that level any more. It probably would have been an easier task if I just went ahead and shot Julius. Maybe then, I could get her back.

For your information muthafucka, I told him to allow you and I some privacy to get on peaceful terms with one another. He was totally against me leaving with you. Contrary to what you may believe, Julius loves me, TC. The only thing you’ve ever provided me with was dick. That shit got old quick! Carmen quickly sent me down memory lane to one of the arguments we had at a hotel one morning.

Truth was, just almost a year earlier I was dead broke, milking my girlfriend Tesha dry, riding all of her fucking gas out of her car, and spending all of Tesha’s well deserved time with Carmen. I’ll admit it. I was an ol’ crumb ass nigga. But I’ve changed. Ain’t no more broke days in my future and I was going to make Carmen understand that. She was either going to be with me or she wasn’t going to be with Julius.

From what I can see, you’re going in head first behind a nigga who’s married. C’mon nah Carmen. You’re better than that. You cut me off to basically put up with the same shit, just from a different nigga. At least I wasn’t married to Tesha! You’re fucking a married man! I tried to make Carmen see the light. She wasn’t having it.

The rain wasn’t letting up at all. I could barely see the damn road anymore and I was tired of going back and forth with Carmen air head ass. For the first time, I was turned off by Carmen. How fucking dumb could a woman be? Julius was married. His wife probably didn’t look half as good as Carmen. He was still with her, so clearly Carmen didn’t mean that much to him. She meant the world to me.

TC, I’m not feeling well. Just drop me off by my parents’ house in GQ. This conversation is going nowhere fast. You have no type of understanding and I don’t like the fact that you’ve threatened our lives with a pistol. Carmen replied, leaning her head back against the headrest in the car. She had her lips poked out, her signature pissed off look.

I slowly made my way into GQ and asked Carmen where her parents lived. I sure would have loved to meet them, but Carmen probably felt a nigga like myself wasn’t worthy of meeting her people. Shid, never after
