A LETTER TO ZAREENA

Crystee Daveen sat on her bed chewing on the end of her pencil, staring out of the window thoughtfully. The bright light of the full moon just outside of her window, poured onto the side of her bed where she sat.

She was thinking about how her day had been. It had been a beautiful summer day and she had played outside with her friends by the lake, just down the road from her house. They ran around on the luminous green grass and played in the cool water where it was shallow. It was also Crystee’s most favorite place to just sit and wonder about things. She wondered about things a lot. Whenever she gazed at the reflections on the surface of the lake it was like she entered a dreamy state and that is when she experienced the most amazing ah-ha moments. Crystee called it the mirrored lake.

Today she was wondering why she had such a strange feeling in her stomach after having such a wonderful day. Why was her stomach twisting into a knot? Why did her head feel so heavy? Her body was telling her she did not feel so great, but she just couldn’t come up with a reason why.

As always, when Crystee had such a question on her mind, she wrote a letter to her dearest friend Zareena. She had known Zareena all her life. Since the day she was born on this planet earth, her golden friend
