About this ebook
How much more could you achieve with your life? This remarkable book provides the key to unlocking the potential you already have. There are no fancy formulae - indeed the great strength herein is its simplicity indicating the power of love to open the way that is before us all.
Everyone knows that when love dominates our actions we can surpass what is the norm. In reading this book, we see how. The unlocking of what we have within is inevitable, because it is there. The ability to love what we do, and love what we are, brings out a new love of life. It guides us to do things differently, otherwise we remain as we are.
Whatever your beliefs, the power of love is known and proved. While written with a love for the Bible, it reaches out and embraces everyone, whatever their leaning. It is not confined to Christianity, for love is universal. Nor is this about positive thinking / visualisation. It is about the reality of your unique potential, fulfilled by the love in your heart.
Ken G Cooper
Ken’s ability to unlock the potential of those around him has been witnessed throughout his adult life. Ken was a partner with a major international firm of chartered accountants, and had many other key appointments. He became well known for the positive difference he made in those things with which he was involved, and continues so to do. He was awarded the “Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians” for his work for Rotary. His involvement with British Junior Chamber and Junior Chamber International and genuine care for others, was the springboard which helped launch his successful seminars on unlocking potential, both in the UK and abroad. Ken’s sincerest wish is to see the practical success of his seminars shared as widely as possible. Their impact was immediate, and it is this immediacy that still brings quick results to all that follow the guidance as laid down in this practical book. It refers to love, - and the accepted fact that when love is uppermost in thought one’s actions are enhanced, potential is unlocked, and solutions are more readily found. Ken has proved all this, and the book is a recognition of the power of love in his life.

INTRODUCING KEN G COOPER
42704.pngI am very pleased to introduce Ken and this rather special book.
There are many, many management, life coaching and self help books on the market. The fair question is whether there is room or need for one more.
Before considering this, there is also the shocking use of one of the simplest and yet so powerful four letter words, love.
Then to cap it all, there is this culture throughout the book of Christianity and the Bible. As a ‘doubting Thomas’ I approached these issues with a degree of scepticism and caution. Surely this is too much a private, personal belief to be used in such a public way. I can assure you that it isn’t.
Ken and I met in Cornwall by chance, found many things in common, especially a shared passion for helping people through training and support. We have both seen the real strengths, qualities and skills lying undiscovered, unused and so often unrealised in the people around us. So the theme of ‘unlocking potential’ is completely right.
Just stopping to help, say a kind word, praise first and see the good are all traits that Ken and I have tried to use throughout our working lives. So even this has a ‘Christian’ or religious flavour.
It is not about conversion, preaching or indoctrination; it is merely using some stories and practices from this pretty special book.
It is about who Ken is and how he lives and has lived his life, what he has sought and found. It is based on real life experience from his work and especially from his ‘unlocking potential’ seminars.
He is not asking people to change their identity, their personalities, or who they are. He is simply asking you to look inside yourself and use what you have.
It is quite usual that many people need help to recognise and understand the latent potential within them before looking at how this might be developed.
Ken’s book is a way to help unlock this potential.
Love is the key.
Wanting to help and being willing to help, looking to see the good, to praise and encourage, giving due recognition, produces so much more.
So, yes, there is room for such a book. A simple message but one not quite used before. It is a treasure chest. One can dip in and out of it and enjoy the valuable gems of insight and experience.
Ken uses the Bible as a motivational tool. There is an honest and clear approach, and while there are several references to the Bible, isn’t this knowingly, or unwittingly, the source of many stock phrases in modern management? Perhaps the most obvious and relevant to this book is seek and ye shall find
. It can be strongly argued that the Bible was the first management handbook, and used in this light it can be used by anyone as a veritable treasure trove.
The Eight Core Qualities and the Guarantee of Success sections provide a guide and a direction for work and personal culture – ‘it’s the way to do things’. Love is very much the key.
‘Happy is the man who finds wisdom’. Ken has found, enjoyed and given of his wisdom and experience and sets it out in this very useful and valuable book.
Ken’s writing will help you find yourself, get to know yourself better and through development of your potential help make life richer and more rewarding.
I recommend it to you.

WHY READ THIS BOOK?
47346.pngHow often do you wish that you could achieve more? For some this could be a desire to just squeeze a little bit more out of life, - for others the urge to keep pushing ahead with plans and schemes, but in too many cases barriers, often self-made, emerge that thwart forward progress.
This is a book that will take you on a journey of discovery revealing how to reach your true potential so much more effectively. It is based primarily on a workshop I ran over many years for a wide range of participants, and which was always successful.
For many it was life-changing, whether at home, socially, or in business. The text is full of personal experiences, which give it a validity that transcends mere theory. It does and will unlock potential. It seems only right to share what I have found so helpful.
The concepts behind Unlock Potential
had their genesis in my involvement with the British Junior Chamber (BJC). Taking part in an Effective Speaking
seminar, and being impressed with the success of the local trainer, I then went on to become a finalist in the National Speaking Competition in Belfast in 1982.
With this experience I developed my own course, with a strong reference to Mark Anthony’s famous speeches in Shakespeare’s Anthony and Cleopatra
, and was able to successfully train others. The phrase Express don’t impress
proved fundamental.
What grabbed my attention was that everyone was amazed at the transformations that were taking place, and with each encouraging the others, everyone was realising an ability they had not recognised was within them.
Seeing what could take place from these sessions, I went on to develop my seminal workshop Unlocking Potential
. This led to presentations at the Junior Chamber International World Congresses at Birmingham (1989) and Kobe (1994), and to the European Council for International Schools in Denmark (1996). Loving what you do and what you are was certainly resonating with my audiences. The continued running of the effective speaking courses added further zest to these seminars, each benefiting from the other.
All the while I was maintaining an active and successful career as a Chartered Accountant, progressing to become partner in the Coventry office of an international firm. I became involved with training, and was the firm’s official link with BJC.
The underlying motivation of love and respect for others led to appointments as President of the local BJC, and of the Warwickshire Society of Chartered Accountants. I was one of the original council members of Coventry Common Purpose and a co-founder of the Coventry Breakfast Rotary Club. My contribution to Rotary, and publication of the related (sometimes irreverent) prayer book Amazing Graces
, endorsed by the Bishop of Coventry, led to me being awarded the Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians
. Presentations of both the effective speaking course and Unlocking Potential
flourished.
In both workshops feedback often included how refreshing it was to have common sense brought back into practical application, - ideas that could immediately be of use in the work place or at home, at university or school.
But were these just words? Seeing is believing. While my main occupation was as a chartered accountant I attended a chainsaw course, (I had a large area of woodland I wanted to look after safely), which was intended to provide successful participants with a certificate of health and safety in chainsaw use. Seven others were all experienced landscape gardeners needing this certificate for their work. It was for me physically very challenging. On the final day I suddenly felt a great
