About this ebook

Rayann (Annie) and Rayden Moodley are two incorrigible little children that are always getting themselves into some sort of adventure.

Be it from the head-spinning, dizzy heights of Disneyland Paris to the heart-wrenching tears of being ripped away from home, school, and friends, with the uncertainty of what their tiny futures hold, right down to the stepping into a brand-new future for both of them and their parents.

Each day of their adventures have fun-filled, hair-pulling moments that leave one laughing hysterically whilst waiting with bated breath for their next exploit.

Thrown dead centre in the middle of their craziness is their very calm, very patient mum, who has the task of making sense of their days whilst wiping tears and acting as referee.

Welcome to the adventures of Rayann and Rayden Moodley. It will leave you wanting more.

It was a sleepy, drizzly morning that greeted little Annie, as she poked her head through her tiny little window.

She had been waiting the whole night for this; tossing and turning, pacing and peering, until the shrill sound of her alarm, signaled it was finally time.

She gazed despairingly out at the cold wet morning.

‘Ah! Well’, she thought to herself; hopefully these ugly black clouds, will fade away, carrying with it, it’s wet; oh! so very wet, kiss.

She gathered up her little pink, Ariel, backpack, and made her way to the kitchen. Mum was already, dressed, and waiting for her. Slipping into her seat, she quickly downed her glass of milk, and gobbled up her, buttery croissant. Mum tousled her hair as she walked by. This was going to be her special day with mummy dearest.

Gathering up their belongings, they slipped out into the cold morning, and into the warm taxi, that had been idling outside for the past five minutes. It was very harried looking Mohammed that greeted them, as he kept pointing at his huge, menacing wrist- watch.

‘Traffic, Mademoiselle’, he muttered through clenched, smiling lips.

‘It’s okay’, smiled mum, soothingly. ‘We really have plenty of time, and there’s no need to rush’.

‘But, the roads, Mademoiselle, it’s wet, and very dangerous’.

‘Well, then, what are we waiting for? asked mum, with raised eyebrows.

Annie’s big button eyes kept darting from driver to mum, and from mum, to driver. ‘Could this get any worse?’ she sighed, despondently.

‘First the rain, and now, this excited, fast talking driver...How on earth, does mum manage to remain so calm?’

They slowly made their way through the heavy morning traffic. It was the warmth, and the closeness of her mum, that eventually caused her eyes to close shut. Little Annie, fell fast asleep. She missed the frantic hooting. She missed the rude gesturing. She missed the hilarious conversation, but most of all; she missed the sudden appearance of Disneyland.

Mum, however, was secretly pleased that her little munchkin had napped. She only hoped, that she herself, had enough energy to keep up. Dropping a kiss on Annie’s warm-moist forehead, she gently woke her up.

    ‘We’re here?’ yawned Annie.

‘We’re here, my love’, laughed mum.

Mohammed stood outside their door, and reaching out a hand, he helped mum out of the car. Reaching in, he scooped the still sleepy doll-like child out, and set her gently onto the sidewalk. He helped gather up their belongings, as mum carefully buttoned up Annie’s pink raincoat.

Climbing into the taxi, he kept gazing into the rear view mirror, as he slowly eased his way out of the parking area. It was moments like this that he wished that his life was much more different than just that of being a, ‘taxi driver’.

Little Annie reached up, and firmly linked her gloved fingers, with her mum’s.

‘Can we enter now?’ she asked, excitedly. She tugged harder, as she peered from left to right.

‘Give me a moment, love. I just need to make certain that I have our tickets. Rummaging through her handbag, muttering to herself in frustration, she searched frantically, until she found the squished envelop which housed their tickets. Audibly blowing out the air that she had been holding in, she gazed at her daughter, and grinned at the laughter that lurked in those round eyes.

    ‘Not one word, from you’.

‘Absolutely none,’ Annie giggled; ‘but don’t you think it would be safer with me?’ she questioned.

‘Probably’, laughed mum, as she strapped on her own backpack, zipped up her handbag, stuffed the envelop into her inner pocket, and gently held out her hand. ‘ Now we’re ready’.

They strolled through the cold drizzle, until they came to the travelator. ‘You want to try this, honey? It’s really quite fun, and it saves us the walk. Just hold onto me tightly, and step on. Don’t move’.

Annie gaze at mum with trusting eyes, and stepped on, wobbling a little bit, and just as mum had promised, it really was fun. She had more time to gaze around her, and take in the scenery.

The drizzle was beginning to turn into a faint mist. There was still hope that
