About this ebook

My organic baby is a book that gives parents a complete guide, based on studies and scientific data. It confronts the facts and myths associated with the upbringing of a child in a natural, organic way: free of vaccines, free of chemicals and contaminants commonly found in standard food, hygiene and cleaning products.

You will know how to complement orthodox medicine with natural options, such as homeopathy, without the need to use harmful chemicals, and how to select healthy organic food for your baby and entire family.

It has recipes to get rid of common or conventional products, almost completely at home. As well as helping you improve your health before, during, and after pregnancy.

Pamela Marin talks about her own experience as a Hispanic woman and new mother. A mother from a new generation of informed parents who are seeking other options and do not conform to the norm.

I hope you enjoy my story, as much as I enjoy it, and may it help you create that new baby that you expecting with a healthier and more informed perspective.

    Curriculum

    Oliver,

Thank you for being such a lovely child!

You are so noble, intelligent and transmit joy to others with your smile. Thank you for being part of our lives, Mom and Dad love you very much.

    To my husband,

Thank you for supporting me during this project, for believing in me and inspiring me to aim for great things.

    Love you!

I cannot adequately express my gratitude and appreciation for Care M. Messer (CHBE), and Martha Bustamante (Doula), the first people who informed me that there are more natural ways of bringing a baby into the world, a more natural baby without resorting to what we are used to doing: taking the easiest road.

I always thought that giving birth at a hospital was the only option I had. However, modern medicine more often prefers C-sections. Childbirth is a wonderful, natural process that many women are avoiding due to fear of feeling pain or damaging their vagina.

The aim of the book is to help all pregnant women and mothers planning to become pregnant soon, to take an appropriate decision when the baby is due. When I was pregnant with Oliver, I researched about hypnobirthing classes (natural birth). They are very important. It might get hard to even go because you might feel more tired than normal during pregnancy, or you are still working, and taking care of your house, but you must draw strength and just go. The training takes one month and provides information about everything. It offers alternative and natural options that you can use, it covers topics such as:

    - Pregnancy and care.

    - Delivery: signals, natural childbirth.

    - Mother postpartum care.

    - Baby postpartum care.

    - Breastfeeding.

    - Encapsulated placenta

    - Cognitive and physical development of the baby.

    - Baby psychology.

    - Baby feeding.

The way they treat you is not only amazing, but completely customized for your needs. It includes follow-up and unconditional support during postpartum, that at the ends is so important for any new mother.

Thanks to this school for mothers, I felt accompanied and relaxed during pregnancy and they were able to guide me after I became a mother.

The first thing you should know is how to choose a doctor that will help you all the way, the entire 9 months. That supports you at all times, because not all pregnancies are simple: some are more painful, some have more symptoms, and complications can arise. Make sure that your doctor promotes natural childbirth and that he/she does not insist on performing a caesarean (those are the good ones). The latter is the most difficult to know, because all say yes, and when approaching the date BOOM! They instill fear in you by saying it is better to do a C-section and try to schedule it, and ultimately you end up doing what they want: a caesarean section.

There are many reasons why doctors want to do cesarean section. One of them: earn more; they feel more comfortable doing what thousands of women prefer: epidural.

A conventional doctor already has everything scheduled! The reasons that he/she can come up with the idea that you need a caesarean section are many; but before you come to a decision be sure to read and look for all the necessary information so that you are not manipulated during your pregnancy. Especially during the last weeks when you don’t have another option than do what the doctor says, because you’re scared to death and trust him/her, and even if you want to change doctors nobody accepts you because of how advanced you are into the pregnancy.

Over the centuries, people have heard and followed beliefs and myths, but you, as a woman, have a maternal instinct that does not fail. Therefore, if all is well, there are no reasons why problems cannot be solved from our maternal instinct, listen to your body and pay close attention to your mind.

In the 6th century BC, Aristotle concluded that water is the beginning of life. He noted that all the seeds have a moist nature. However, it was not until the 1700th that scientists began to understand and identify the properties of water, recognizing its value as a therapeutic method.

Throughout history, there are only a few concrete evidences that ancient cultures practiced water birthing, at any scale; but it has been identified as being used in all cultures of the world. There are legends that say that the ancient Egyptians gave birth in the water to certain babies, chosen babies…

Water has always been a symbol of motherhood and fertility: life began in the ocean, and our natural habitat during gestation is the amniotic fluid. That is why already in the 1970s, Dr. Michel Odent in France, presented to scientists and women the benefits of water birth

Almost thirty years later, this phenomenon of giving birth in water has expanded significantly: European countries like England, France, Belgium, among many others, as well as Japan, USA, Australia, witness the multiplication of centers where this more natural and humanized type of birth is practiced.

Now I wonder: today, can we have a natural childbirth experience in the water, and other ways, without the need for an epidural?

If you are a first-time mom or are pregnant for the first time, it can be a little more difficult to take this decision. Probably someone told you that with the magical epidural delivery does not have to be painful. They make anesthesia seem like you can be sitting there checking your Facebook, or perhaps make it seem like a bed of roses where you’ll wait to see your baby, reading a magazine with the only inconvenience of having to turn pages while hooked up to an IV.

It is also true that in a vast majority of cases, it is not far from the previously mentioned scenario, and I will not be the one to deny all the medical and pharmacological advances that can make life easier.

If I have another child more than likely I will ask for natural childbirth again, but I think it is important to know the B side of epidural the consequences and complications which are faced.

For the above reasons this book talks about my own experience as a Hispanic woman, as a new generation, and as a first time mother. Also how the idea to write "My Organic Baby" came about. Why as a Hispanic or from any another nationality, we are not aware of many things (ignorance) regarding our children. Finally, how we tend to follow the pattern of our parents, grandparents, friends and even famous people without being adequately informed.

Last but not least, I want to take a few moments to thank NurturMe for their Organic Baby Cereal, a great product that I personally use with my little one and highly recommend. It’s the first and only pure quinoa-based cereal on the market and is certified organic, gluten-free, non-GMO and kosher. I couldn’t believe it either! I was surprised and thrilled that such an amazing product is currently available and would love to share it with all mothers-to-be, moms and dads, everywhere.

Unfortunately, choosing a baby cereal that is truly organic and gluten-free is not enough; you must look deeper and understand the ingredients manufacturers are using in their products. NurturMe does a great job explaining exactly what goes into their all-natural baby and toddler food to consumers. You should also try their Yum-a-Roo’s toddler snacks, which are made from 100% certified organic fruits and veggies without any added sugar, salt or preservatives.

I hope you enjoy my story, as much as I enjoy it. That it may help you create that new baby you have been waiting for, in a healthier and thus more informed way, and that it may improve all generations ahead of us.

    INTRODUCTION:

The reason I wrote this book.

If there is something I am thankful to God during these 27 years, is for the birth of my son Oliver and for what I have learned and continue learning day by day. I have learned that children do not rear themselves.

During childhood we must not cater to everything the child asks for, if we give everything he won’t learn the value of things. You must teach the child to pick up everything he throws so he learns what his responsibilities are. Finally, you must prepare him for a life full of teachings, because they will come.

Well, if that’s NOT how to do it, then, how should we raise our children? Let us consider…

The first thing that a Bible passage tells us is that we should teach with discipline. NOT with cruelty, NOT abuse, but with discipline. Actually, if we review the word discipline, where it comes from, it has to do with learning. It is related to the words disciple and discipleship.

Everything starts with us. It’s like planting a flower and watering it every day. The flowers growth depends on us, and how the next generation of flowers will form.

Throughout time we have followed a protocol. When you have a child you take him to a doctor for medical examination. And when the baby is just three months, the doctor begins to suggest vaccines. Parents, fearing that the child may get sick, vaccinate without thinking about it. They do not even stop to consider what elements or components and substances such vaccines contain.

While the vast majority of parents do not seek out additional information, their children continue suffering the consequences of their ignorance. They are innocent victims.

In Chapter 7, I will explain how vaccines are no longer the same as before and how they have become an important source of income for the pharmaceutical industry. Vaccines do not really improve the autoimmune system of individuals but it is the opposite.

I used to be like YOU, uninformed. I was just following the general protocol and asking myself, am I really doing the right thing? Am I making good decisions about my son’s life?

So, I started to think, and feel that sixth sense, that something did not sound good. Then, I started to investigate and got more information, and that’s when I realized I was not the only (crazy person) out there. LOL

Seriously, this is nothing new for Europeans, Americans and even Canadians. They are already aware of this very controversial issue of vaccines. Some parents, like us (my husband and I), decided not to vaccinate their children.

Basically this was the reason I wanted to write this book, to tell my story. How I, being Hispanic, had to make this important decision. And I said to myself: how is it possible for me, an educated woman, who went to college, to not know anything about this?

How was I supposed to know if I was not researching about it!

I kept seeing people following the protocol, taking their children to get vaccinated. But then again, are these people informed about vaccines? Have they ever opened a book and educated themselves on the subject? The same goes for the other topics to be discussed throughout this book.

When I was four months pregnant, I did some research about hypnobirthing classes; basically a natural, easier, and more convenient approach to labor. Hypnobirthing is widely used in 27 countries and very innovative in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries. This method, also called The Mongan Method, teaches nothing new, we as women have done
