Ella Evergreen is a young girl who loves to go outside and play. Using nature, her creativity and imagination, she is able to do plenty of fun things and even dream of new worlds. This is a fun book that encourages natural outdoor play, combined with her imagination, Ella is able to do anything and go anywhere. The writing is done in a rhythmic rhyming scheme that captures and keeps kids attention. I loved that many of the activities that Ella does outside are easy activities for kids to do themselves; such as making a mud pie (recipe included) or building a gnome home. I also enjoyed the focus on the imagination, dreaming and thinking of qualities of different animals to have ourselves. The illustrations are done in watercolor and give a childlike whimsicality to the book. Perfect for kids 5-8 years old. This book was received for free in a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway in return for an honest review.
