About this ebook

This book is a gathering of my poetry and writings describing times in my life and explaining some of my familys hardship and turmoil. May God walk with you as you do the same.

Richard and I went to high school together, over the years we had lost contact with each other until we found ourselves again on Facebook. I have read the poems that R. wrote. He sent me a copy a few years back so I could enjoy them. He really put his heart and soul in his writings. I cried thru so many of them. His work is like the history of family and friends that he has come to know. The expressions that come from his poems are meaningful and relate to events and people in his life. I had the chance of connecting with Richard and his wife Linda five years ago at our 40 year reunion. We had a blast. I wish the best of success for him. He is truly a great and cherished friend. Joyce Peters or as he calls me J.

" Heartache, betrayal and unconditional love. Everyone has experienced these emotions; some more than others. These poems reflect each of these emotions and I have witnessed my dad live these poems out. I truly believe that this book of poems can help anyone work thru heartache and betrayal and learn how to use unconditional love to forgive. Katherine Goin, GA "

My name is Richard Lee Rose, and I was born on December 5, 1952, in Manchester, Tennessee, or Roll Back City. I am sixty-two years old and a proud member of the Centennial Zipper Club sine February 5, 2015. I was a member of the army security agency attached to the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War (1972 to 1975). By this time, my PTSD was in a perfect hidden position yet was still fully functional. By the eighties, Lady Linda and I were starting a family, Tumbleweed in 1980 and Junior in 1982. I retired in 1994 after a botched VA operation, which left me deaf on the left side. The trigger of trust has taken a hit, and my PTSD registered it as pain. I played typical dad, football coach, baseball trainer, softball coach, and chief cook and bottle washer for the Rose family. Early in the 2000s, my family underwent mental torment no human being should have to endure. My PTSD was at the point of critical mass. Every moral code and law had been broken by the authorities themselves in order to cover up a police officer’s perjury on the stand. I write to ease the anger and pain of the devil’s work. It looks like I will be writing a lot in the future.

    Preface

Preface: Words to Water, A line out of one of my poems, My Mind’s Life, is what I have decided to use to describe this collection of poems and writings. They are about incidents in my life, which has caused my family and myself to grow beyond our dreams. The killing of my mother by her sister and the arrest of my son and myself on the day of the funeral was cruel and my greatest motivation. We still have not been able to mourn. These poems and writings are my mental release for the shape of things to come.

The following writings and poems are an example of the mental compromise we have been through. I am a bit harsh in some, but the motivation to write is unstoppable. My Ancestors and family have been wronged and I will not go Gently into the Night. With every stroke of my pen, I will let the voice of Honor, Justice and Human Rights speak loud and clear like the Horn of Gabriel.

I am having to publish Words to Water using a Pen name due to the Liability of my verbal healing and poetry. It seems that the American Freedoms I offered my life for is not extended to me, a 100% Disabled Vietnam Veteran. Never the less, thanks to a wonderful God fearing woman, Lady D, my words will be heard. May God walk with you and protect you along your way.

    My Words of Poetry

My words are, for all to read,

Life and it’s stories, written free.

About People, places and things, (thangs)

Life and death, Words that mean. (hang)

Words of Wisdom, Words of warning,

Words of Bliss! and Words of morning.

Some shed Light, Some go dark,

All were written, from this, Heart.

    Whole, Broken, and/or redefined,

A heart healed, with words of Rhyme.

I write words, like Rockwell paints,

I picture your mind, with paper and ink.

Simple subject, Words, full of colors,

Clean and clear. *No flies on brother.

With eyes closed, of words just read,

Painted pictures, dance in your head.

To write words, that is my goal,

To paint pictures, that never grows old!

So Words to Water, flow like paint,

A master’s blend, Colors can create.

*This saying is dedicated to my father,

He learned it during his days in the Orphanage.

It expressed how unclean the orphans were,

and the conditions in which they lived.

I heard it many, many times in my life.

    Just in Case

    Just in Case,

    I forgot to say,

    I Love You!

    Just in Case,

    I didn’t say,

    I am Sorry.

    Just in Case,

    Let the World know,

    Lady Linda is my soul.

    Just in Case,

    All of my children,

    I am very, very Proud.

    Just in Case,

    I hope my lessons,

    *Learned you about Life.

    Just in Case,

    This world of Life,

    I did love greatly.

    Just in Case,

    History repeats itself,

    And this is my time.

    Just in Case,

    God, I do pray,

    Please let me stay?

While contemplating a major life decision, Major Operation,

Anxiety was building about the past,

My father died from same operation.

So, to my Lady, I wrote this poem.

I did not want to leave anything left unsaid.
