Names are very powerful. Some people like Ima Hogg became famous and lived well with a difficult name. Others did not do so well.
Some were born with a good name and married into trouble. Jodi Pass married Bill Gasse and became Jodi Pass-Gasse. One lady I knew never married her boyfriend because she did not want to be known as the wife of a Jack Haase. Alotta Johnson married a man my brother knew named Henry Manure. She became Alotta Manure.

Jay Leno always ended his Monday night monologue with interesting couples who married. I sent him the Shiney-Hiney wedding, and he used it to end his monologue. He also had interesting names of people and their occupations. Dr. Bendover is a proctologist. (I wonder if his wife is Eileen, with one short leg.) My funny names begin with the King family. Joe was a weather forecaster. Would you believe a person who says It will rain, and I am Joe King?

Jack Lindstorm

For many years as a church pastor, Chuck Anderson read the daily obituaries to make sure he had not lost any sheep during the night. As he read, he found himself laughing out loud at the funny names of real people who had lived with such interesting names. Soon he began to collect these names, and the idea for this book was born. Next, Chuck sought out the talents of Randy Evert and illustrator Jack Lindstrom to help us see what these people might look like. We believe that this is the first book of funny names that actually illustrates the interesting people.
