About this ebook
Washington, DC, is among the first casualties. Without any warning or explanation, the great city is wiped from the earth in seconds. Before anyone on the planet knows what is happening, Ottawa, Brasilia, and Buenos Aires suffer the same fate within minutes of each other. Beijing is next, especially after Luminous has taken the Orb of Fire from General Vang Kai. But her collection is incomplete; she needs two more, the orbs of life and death.
Her plan entails stealing all eight orbs, destroying what remains of the universe, and recreating it to her liking. She employs any means necessary to get what she desires, and she is one evil force.
But a group of people have banded together to ensure the safety of the orbs, protecting these special objects from the hands of Luminous. The group must outwit Luminous and her followers to save the world from destruction.

The Storm of Chaos
F OR YEARS WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT intelligent life other than our own, and for years they have remained silent. We should have guessed that there was a reason for the silence, but by that time it would have already been too late.
Washington DC was among the first casualties. Without any warning or explanation, the great city was wiped from the face of the earth in a matter of seconds. The president, secretary of defense, and joint chiefs, along with six hundred thousand inhabitants, were killed. Before anyone on the planet knew what was happening, Ottawa, Brasilia, and Buenos Aires suffered the same fate—within only minutes of each other.
Deep in the heart of the vast Australian outback, night had fallen. A small but diverse group of people had gathered. Some were rich, some were poor, and some were mothers clinging to their children as if they were afraid death had come for them all. There, one hope lay in the hands of an Australian shaman.
The Shaman was a dark-skinned man with a black beard and black hair. He wore a tunic around his pelvis, and a small sack hung around his neck. Oddly enough, he also wore a black leather jacket. Other than the jacket, this man looked as if he had lived out in the bush for years: The shaman sat Indian style in front of a campfire, which he stirred with a stick.
All waited anxiously to hear the shaman speak about their fate, yet he remained silent. A limousine pulled up to the campfire, and out stepped a very rich-looking man holding an ancient, ornate box. The shaman got up and walked over to the rich man, who handed him the box. As the shaman opened it, a strange, unearthly light shone out of it. Everyone, including the rich man, seemed to be filled with fear and dread at the sight of the light—except for the shaman.
The shaman slowly closed the box and turned to the people. Brothers and sisters, I know why you are all here. The time of which I have spoken is at hand. For she has come, the angel of light with blood on her hands, to steal, kill, and destroy. Whether or not humanity can withstand her rage, I know not. Yet do not let your hearts be troubled, for the savior of all things will come and will fight by our sides to destroy the vile evil that she represents. But take heed: many will die, and many will rise before the end.
After looking at the box in his hands, he continued. For now we must hold out, but I promise I will do all in my power to keep this orb from her sight.
In China, General Vang Kai of the Chinese Red Guard was sleeping peacefully at his house on base in the city of Beijing. He was awakened by the telephone. General, We have a code black! Repeat, we have a code black!
General Vang Kai’s eyes opened widely as he jumped up from his bed. He knew what this meant. Even though he had tried to prepare for all possibilities, he found himself completely unprepared. Is the cloaking device still active?
Yes, General, but we don’t know how effective it will be. Moscow has already been hit, as well as most of the capitals of North and South America.
How long ago?
asked General Vang Kai.
Moments, sir!
General Vang Kai realized he was up against an enemy unlike any he had ever faced before. It was an enemy that could wipe out entire cities in a matter of minutes. Still, he knew his duty was to protect China—and also the only thing that he held most dear, his niece and only surviving relative, his brother’s daughter.
General Vang Kai gave the order. I want the orb moved immediately. We must get it to a more secure location!
Yes, General.
With that, General Vang Kai hung up the phone, put on his uniform as quickly as he could, and ran down to his eighteen-year-old niece’s bedroom. Huiliang! Huiliang!" he said, trying desperately to wake her up.
She was still half-asleep and in her nightgown. What is it, Uncle?
No time to explain!
he said, grabbing her bathrobe out of the closet. Put this on. We need to go—now!
General Vang Kai and Huiliang left the house
