( a dedication from the editors to the author)

With our love and gratitude for your many years as a brilliant, wonderfully creative, loving and generous daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, especially your three adoring Applepoppers.

Love always, Judy, Nancy and (in spirit) Peggy and Sooty too.

    THE SEASHORE TRAIN

K aty woke up in her room at the seashore house and called, Mommie, may we go to Playland on the Boardwalk tonight? BooBear wants to ride the train. Please?

W ell, her mother hesitated, if you’re not a grump when we get back from the beach. Right now, you gather up BooBear. We’re off to the beach. The sun is warming the ocean."

While Katy tucked BooBear into her yellow bucket, she chattered, Oh, BooBear, don’t you love to go to Playland? Remember the train whistle that goes fa-roo-ah-ru-ah. And the music on the merry-go-round and the lights on the Ferris wheel? She gave her bear a squashling hug.
