About this ebook

My reason for writing this book was to understand the Bible more fully. Why did God have so much trouble with His little flock of people? Why did they always disobey Him? Who were the little gods they were always worshipping? Thats why I read the book of Enoch that told about the Watchers and detailed their treachery against God. Other books outside the Bible also reveal more details and clear up many of the mysteries that the Bible does not explain. It has increased my faith in God even more.

Ancient Revelations of the Bible - A. C. Lenak

    chapter 1

Who Were the Sons of God?

T he purpose for writing this book is to promote my theory that Satan and his followers, (the angels who were thrown out of heaven with him) lived on the earth before the flood. The watchers were angels God sent down to teach and care for humankind, but they, too, fell in with Satan. Through their acts against God, they corrupted the earth so completely that God destroyed all He had created and started over. Only Noah and his family found favor in His sight and God saved them to create a new race of men.

Why did God destroy the earth with a flood? What could humanity have done that was so terrible that God felt He had to annihilate the entire human race? We read in Genesis 6:4–5, The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-and also afterwards-when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.¹ The Bible does not go into detail about the kind of evil that was perpetrated on earth but tells us, that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. God said He would not contend with humans forever and that He would give him 120 years to turn from their wicked ways. But humanity refused to repent, and God brought the flood. Noah was the only one who worshipped God.

In Noah’s 590th year, the Lord instructed him to build an ark and take two couples of all living things with him. But from the clean animals, and clean fowls, he brought seven couples, (The Book of Jasher 6:9b). In verse 11 of the same chapter, we read,

And on that day, the Lord caused the whole earth to shake, and the sun darkened, and the fountains of the world raged, and the whole earth was moved violently, and the lightening flashed, and the thunder roared, and all the fountains of the earth were broken up, such as was not known to the inhabitants before; and God did this mighty act, in order to terrify the sons of men, that there might be no more evil upon the earth.²

God destroyed everything he had made except Noah, Noah’s wife, and Noah’s sons and their wives.

Since only eight people came through the flood and lived to tell about it, the survivors would tell and retell the story about this great calamity. Is this the reason that stories of a flood have survived in almost every culture? However, when the people were scattered after attempting to build the tower of Babel, the story would have changed with time.

So what terrible sins did humanity commit before the flood that made God feel there was no hope for anyone except Noah and his family? Was it all humanity’s fault? Did they possibly have a little help? Who might have helped them? Do we dare look into mythology for an answer? Do we even dare believe there is a kernel of truth in the tales that come from the mythologies of the world? We hear that the stories of gods are merely fables, stories of primitive peoples. Are they really? A book was once given much credibility by the early church. That book is Enoch. Enoch was a scribe who lived before the flood. How much proof do we have that Enoch was even a real person? Genesis 5:18a says, When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch.³

Genesis 5:22b–24 states, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. Enoch walked with God; then he was no more because God took him away.

Hebrews 11:5 says, By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken he was commended as one who pleased God.

In Jude 1:6,7a, we read, And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these He has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. 14b, Enoch, the 7th from Adam, prophesied about these men. ‘See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of His holy ones to judge everyone …’⁶ Jude is giving another verification of the existence of Enoch and also mentions the sons of God.

The Book of Jasher mentions Enoch numerous times. Although it is not part of the Bible, The Book of Jasher is mentioned several times, as in Joshua 10:13: So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in The Book of Jasher.

Second Samuel 1:18 says, "And ordered that the men of Judah be taught this lament of the bow (it is written in The Book of Jasher).

In The Book of Jasher 3:2, we read, And the soul of Enoch was wrapped up in the instruction of the Lord, in knowledge and in understanding; and he wisely retired from the sons of men, and secreted himself from them for many days.⁹ After this, the angel told Enoch to go forth from his house and appear to the sons of men and teach them in the way they should go. So Enoch taught them the wisdom of God and His ways. In the 365th year of Enoch’s life, he was caught up into heaven.

Philo and Josephus also mention Enoch in their writings as a real person, who lived before the flood and who was a righteous man.

There are three books attributed to Enoch: 1 (Ethiopic Apocalypse of) ENOCH, 2(Slavonic Apocalypse of) ENOCH, [A] the shorter [J] the longer recension, and 3(Hebrew Apocalypse of) Enoch.

The Ethiopic Enoch, translated by E. Isaac, contained most of the references to the sons of God. In 1 Enoch 6:1–8 we read a text similar to Genesis.

In those days, when the children of man had multiplied, it happened that there were born unto them handsome and beautiful daughters. And the angels, the children of heaven, saw them and desired them; and they said to one another, Come, let us choose wives for ourselves from among the daughters of man and beget us children. And Semyaz, being their leader, said to them, I fear that perhaps you will not consent that this deed should be done, and I alone will become (responsible) for this great sin But they all responded to him, Let us all swear an oath and bind everyone among us by a curse not to abandon this suggestion but to do the deed. Then they all swore together and bound one another by (the curse). And they were altogether two hundred and they descended into Ardos, which is the summit of Hermon. And they called the mount Armon, for they swore and bound one another by a curse. And their names are as follows: "Semyaz, the leader of Arakeb, Rame’el, Tam’el, Ram’el, Dan’el, Ezeqel, Baraqyal, As’el, Armaros, Batar’el, Anan’el, Zaqe’el, SasomaspWe’el, Kestar’el, Tur’el, Yamayol, and Arazyal. These are their chiefs of tens and of all the others with them.¹⁰

There is a sacred building made of hewn blocks of stone on the summit of Mount Hermon. Known as Qasr Antar, it is the highest temple of the ancient world and was documented by Sir Charles Warren in 1869 An inscription on a limestone stele recovered by Warren from Qasr Antar was translated by George Nicklesburg to read According to the command of the greatest a(nd) Holy God, those who take an oath (proceed) from here.¹¹

In 8:1–2, we read that Azaz’el teaches the people how to make swords, knives, shields, and breastplates. To their chosen ones, they teach them to become more alluring by adorning them with bracelets and decorations (shadowing of the eye). They also practice alchemy, and Ethiopian commentators explain this as changing a man into a horse or mule, or vice versa, or transferring an embryo from one womb to another.¹² There was much wickedness, and they committed adultery and erred. Amasras taught incantation and the cutting of roots; and Armaros the resolving of incantations: and Baraqiyal, astrology and Kokarer’el (the knowledge of) the signs, and Tam’el taught the seeing of the stars, and Asder’el taught the course of the moon as well as the deception (destruction) of man (verses 3–4).¹³

In 69:4–12, Enoch names other angels.

The name of the first is Yeqon; he is the one who misled all the children of the angels, brought them down on earth, and perverted them by the daughters of the people. The second was named Asb’el; he is the one who gave the children of the holy angels an evil counsel and misled them so that they would defile their bodies by the daughters of the people. The third was named Gader’el; this one is he who showed the children of the people all the blows of death, who misled Eve, who showed the children of the people (how to make) the instruments of death (such as) the shield, the breastplate, and the sword for warfare and all (the other) instruments of death to the children of the people.

Enoch tells us the fourth angel is Penem’e, who taught them to read and write, and because of this, they began sinning. In verse 12, the fifth angel is Kasadya, who revealed to the children of the people (the various) flagellations of all evil --(the flagellation) of the souls and the demons, the smashing of the embryo in the womb so that it may be crushed.¹⁴ Could they have practiced abortion as we do today?

Enoch writes in chapter 7 that the women gave birth to giants who grew to three hundred cubits in height (a cubit is between twelve and seventeen inches in length). Enoch also tells us that because of their gigantic stature, they ate all of the produce the people had so that the people detested feeding them. So the giants began eating the people and then began to eat each other.

After all these things happened, the people cried out to God, and from heaven, Michael, Surafel and Gabriel saw the blood that was
