About this ebook
ministry. The performances can truly minister to an audience; but I believe that ministry also takes place
with the cast and helpers.
When we come to Christ, we are each given at least one gift, and when each member has the opportunity
to utilize these gifts ministry takes place within and with out. The bible gives the best illustration of this
in I Corinthians chapter twelve when it speaks of the body of Christ and each member using their gift to
minister to the other members, thereby giving glory to God.
Drama can open the door for many gifts to function where other ministries may not;
Consider these:
Carpentry- helping to build and construct props
Seamstress- making costumes etc.
Stage designing and setting
Lighting Technicians
Sound Technicians
Writers
When all these gifts come together it increases opportunity for fellowship and that fellowship grows and
binds them together in love. And when the plays themselves are over and the curtain has closed on the
fi nal scene, it is the fellowship and love that remains and we are left longing for the opportunity to come
together again. This is a piece of the puzzle I see when I write a play and I cant wait to put all the other
pieces in their places.

Dedication
I would like to dedicate this book to Mrs. Beatrice F. Reeves;
she has never lost sight of the emphasis of this play,
this Ministry or me. Beatrice has worked side by side with me for countless hours until we have seen this book come into fruition.
She still has a vision for this play today.
And she allows me to stand upon her shoulders
and yet seeks no acknowledgements of her own.
Bea and I are what I would like to call;
Kindred Spirits, Kindred Minds and ‘Kindred Hearts.’
Thank You Beatrice, may God continue to bless you and your vision.

About The Plays:
This Same Jesus:
1. Original
2. Revised
Original:
This Same Jesus is a full length play written by Gladys C. Young in 1998
This Same Jesus consists of Biblical Monologues and brief scenarios of present day situations. The present day situations address the way many believe that they are saved and use their views of salvation as a means by which they judge the salvation of others, but find out that their assessment of both may be wrong.
The emphasis of the play is to provoke thought as to where we stand in our relationship with one another and with God. And to remind us that Christ is soon to return to receive His Church.
One of the main scriptures considered when writing the play was Hebrews 9:27
Hebrews 9:27
"It is appointed unto man once to die, after this the . . . judgment."
In light of this fact we want to consider these two questions formed from 2 Peter 3:11b.
2 Peter 3:11b
1. What kind of people ought you to be?
2. Where will you spend eternity, heaven or hell?
This Same Jesus shows God’s Sovereign Rule and His gifts of Forgiveness and Restoration to those who will repent and those that are anxiously awaiting His return.
Even though the main emphasis of the play is a serious one it is done with a humorous twist which makes it a little more palatable—a little easier to digest.
Revised:
After working with the Original Version for a few years we were encouraged to develop some of the characters a little more in depth; so from this idea the Revised Version was written.
This Same Jesus in the Revised Version does not have all the biblical Monologues and many of the characters were deleted and others more fully developed; yet the emphasis of the play did not change.
This Same Jesus in the Revised Version opens with Jesus in silhouette giving warning of His Eminent Return; biblical narratives follow setting the stage for the present day scenes.
Even though we have worked with these plays for an extended period of time they are still considered to be a work in progress.
The Original and Revised Version can be customized to the desire of the ones putting on the play and or the location and structure of the performance area. It can be performed on a shoe-string budget or enhanced by a more extravagant one; which ever you choose I believe both plays can be enjoyed by the entire family.
