Prologue
It’s been said that everyone is born for a purpose. We don’t know what our purpose is because we can’t tell the future so we do what we think we should. History proves that we have purposes for our existences that affect us in more ways than we understand so we should be vigilant and conscious of our lives because they’re our destiny.
Picture if you will Doctor Jeremy Christianson a well educated, respected, intelligent and successful person who spent years working to achieve his goal of becoming a Genetic Environmental Biologist. The occupation didn’t even exist when he was born but it became an established advanced educational discipline during his youth. He wasn’t any more conscious of his destiny than you and I are when we’re born but he drastically affected life on earth and in the universe more than he imagined.
In the beginning
Jeremy Christianson was born on January the twenty fifth in the year two thousand. He was very fortunate because his destiny led him to be born the son of a mother and a father who loved each other, worked hard, planned, prepared for his birth and provided him with the unconditional love and support that can help anyone to live a productive life. Jeremy’s parents met one day when their destinies crossed paths where they were employed. They didn’t work in the same organization or even the same building. They worked in a large complex of federal government agencies and private businesses that were located in a congregation of modern office buildings in Washington DC. The complex also consisted of a variety of clothing, jewelry and household commercial establishments that included grocery and drug stores, bars, vendors and restaurants that catered to a variety of international menus. One Friday afternoon around two o’clock Jeremy’s future parents, August Christianson and Ivy Harris left their respective desks and walked to the mall in the complex where they worked which was located on a level below their offices. They were glad it was the end of the week and looked forward to their usual time off from work but they were oblivious to the events that were about to happen which would change their lives and many others forever. It was a bright, sunny day in July so they decided to walk outside across the complex and enjoy a few minutes of fresh air and sunshine.
August walked out of the building where he worked into a courtyard that was filled with people walking around, sitting at tables and on benches that were there for everyone’s convenience. He had been working in his office most of the day and looked forward to a break so he decided to walk to another building that wasn’t very far from where he was and go into the mall and browse. August walked to an escalator that led to the shopping mall of stores and restaurants; entered into an open space where people were walking around, sitting at tables, talking, eating, drinking and socializing; and decided to go into a store that had a variety of international foods and condiments he liked and had visited many times before. He browsed through the store for a few minutes and decided to buy a sandwich and a drink from the deli. August made his purchase and left the store but just as he was about to walk back to the escalator he saw a dark haired attractive young woman sitting alone on a bench across from the store that was a few feet from him who caught his attention. Her dark eyes seemed to be staring directly at him through all of the people who were walking back and forth so he hesitated, stopped and stared at her for a moment. He wasn’t certain she was looking at him so he looked around to see if there was something else going on or someone else that she was looking at. He stood there for a moment, kept looking at her and she seemed to continue looking at him but he wasn’t sure so he decided to walk over to where she was sitting. He approached her and asked, How’re you doing today do you mind if I sit down?
She looked up at him, smiled and said, Sure, I’m fine. How are you doing?
He smiled back at her and said, I’m pretty good,
as he sat down beside her. I thought I saw you looking at me. Do you know me,
August asked her. She looked into his eyes with a smile on her face and said, I was looking at you, but I don’t know you.
He was intrigued with her answer, looked at her attractive dress and low cut blouse that tempted his eyes towards her attractive breasts which he tried to appear not to notice and said, Why is such a beautiful woman looking at me, do you see something you like?
She continued to smile and replied, Yeah, I do. I was looking at how handsome you look in your suit.
Her response surprised him so he smiled and said, Thank-you for such a generous compliment. I’m glad you like what you see because I do too.
She continued looking into his eyes with a bright, enticing smile and said, My name is Ivy. What’s yours?
My name is August,
he replied and asked her, Do you work around here?
I work right across the street. I was just taking a break because I’ve been in the office all day and I wanted to get out for a few minutes, she replied.
Do you work around here, she asked.
Yeah, he answered.
I work right across the street too." They talked and discovered they worked in buildings that were close to each other and after a few minutes August asked her if she would meet him after work for a date. Ivy accepted his offer; they exchanged phone numbers and agreed to meet at five o’clock after work at the same place.
August returned to his office beaming with excitement and Vincent one of his coworkers who sat in a desk just across the aisle from him noticed his happy demeanor said, You look real happy. What happened to you?
August could hardly contain himself and blurted out, I just met this beautiful woman in the mall. She’s about five foot eight, has beautiful dark eyes and she’s gorgeous. She agreed to meet me after work and I think I’m going to have a good weekend.
Vincent was nosy and tried to probe him a little but when August felt that he was talking more than he wanted to he composed him self and sat at his desk with his imagination running wild in anticipation of the arrival of five o’clock.
Ivy returned to her office with a smile on her face but before she reached her desk, Cynthia, one of her co-workers who were passing by smiled and said, You look like you’re so glad to be here you can’t help yourself.
She tried to contain herself but she was so excited that she couldn’t help but tell her about the meeting she had in the mall. Cynthia smiled and said, Sounds like you might get lucky.
What’s his name? Ivy replied, August and he works in the building right across the street.
What does he do
Cynthia asked. He works in Human Resources,
Ivy replied. Are you going to see him again,
Cynthia asked. He asked me to meet him after work and I said yes,
Ivy smiled and replied. Cynthia smiled and said, Well I hope you have a good time and I’m happy for you but please be careful because you just met him and you know we have to be careful with all the fools out here.
I know,
Ivy smiled and said, But for some reason I have a good feeling about him.
Well have fun and be careful. I’d like to talk some more but I have a meeting coming up. Let me know how it turns out,
Cynthia replied and walked away.
Five o’clock couldn’t come soon enough for August and Ivy. They twitched, turned and watched the clock in anticipation of the end of the day. Each moment seemed to drag by slowly for both of them but five o’clock finally came. They rushed from their offices, hurried to the mall where they agreed to meet and hoped that the other one would be there. Ivy arrived before August and sat down on the bench where they agreed to meet with thoughts of anticipation running through her mind. A few minutes later August arrived and when their eyes met for the second time they shared another rapturous moment which was more captivating than the first one. August tried to contain himself and walked as calmly as he could towards her even though he wanted to hurry, sat down beside her and
