    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my grandpa, Henry Hon Lit Siu. He was born on August 18, 1910. He was a visionary, a free spirit and a really amazing role model. He decided to leave the comfort of his life as a banker in Hong Kong in 1968 to move himself and his family to Canada because he thought that his children and grandchildren would have better opportunities in Canada. (In the late 1960s, there was a great deal of unrest in Hong Kong. As a small child, I witnessed the rioting in the streets.) After moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, he embarked on a second career as a real estate agent at the age of 60. Not bad for a guy for whom English was a second language. He became an integral part of the Chinese community, volunteering his time at the Chinese Cultural Centre and the Sun Yet Sen Gardens. He would give his bottom dollar to someone if he felt that person needed it more than he did. He hired newly immigrated Chinese people to do odd jobs around the house to help them earn some extra money. He passed away on October 31, 1997. When I think of the word courage, I see my grandfather. I miss him immensely. I live each and every day of my life inspired by his spirit.
