Chapter 1
TO BEGIN A COMMENCEMENT OF THINGS NOT SPOKEN
Stephan, the honey badger, was running as fast as he could on account of his discovery of a fresh, new, and colossally fat beehive. Stephan was so fond of honey that he could eat it morning, midday, evening, and especially late evening as a hearty small meal. Yes, visions of honey did run and dance in his dreams as a proper friend. Life is found in honey as a precious gift given to a dear friend. Honey—a gift of most excellent propriety and beautiful in modesty of taste.
Maybe I should back up so as to give the location of Stephan and his many friends, some friendly, some not so cordial by any standards. Most of his friends are of good and mannerly habits, and a fair number of the inhabitants are just unruly. There are also animals that are profoundly evil. All these animals live in a forest unknown to any man. This fantastically great forest is quite mesmerizing in its distinct and raw beautiful beauty. It is enormously lovely and pleasing to the eye of every animal. The animals of this forest are of the perceptive sort and have the keenest vision, intellectual capacity, and sense of smell.
It stands alone, much like the rarest of deepest blue precious stones with illuminations that hold a world of stories inside. It will captivate and draw closer and closer. This story of antiquity can become a friend for a lifetime. The exploration of this land thus commences.
Stephan reached the beehive and smashed it open using his head as a battering ram so he could eat all the honey he could possibly eat. The hive was home to a wonderfully sweet green and light-red apple honey. Stephan began to enjoy a fabulous treat. By this time Winston, another honey badger, approached from a large, dense collection of willow trees with leaves as fine as silk over a thousand years old and caught up to Stephan.
He loudly proclaimed with a deeply forceful voice, Did you save me a bit of honey for my sweet honey tooth?
Of course, my brother. There is plenty of honey for you!
Winston responded, Governor, it is a good custom, with prudence of upright culture, for all gentle honey badgers with comportment to share honey.
Stephan said, Yes, yes, Winston, you are quite the eloquent wordsmith, wielding a mighty hammer as Thor on your anvil of communication and speech.
Winston said, Why, quite gracious of you to admit, Stephan.
They were raised in a cottage full of love and discipline by a mother of exceptional character.
Winston said, I will stay on my soapbox for a moment more as I scratch my furry beard and pontificate in humble verbiage. The words we use do determine one’s view of life. A honey badger has the confidence of solidarity. We live a solemn solidarity. Unity with much delight as unity is solidarity. We partake in all the forest has to experience, including fabulous honey. The word itself is exceedingly tasty, simply wholesome completeness. So let us resolve to do our best, and may every honey badger always have sweet honey. We are solemn in unity, and our very name speaks of what we enjoy, for we are honey badgers.
Winston continued to eat honey as he spoke, and Stephan listened. He filled his mouth a few more times, and he was completely full of most delicious honey.
Both Stephan and Winston were trained in the ancient art of the honey badger called the Paw Art of War. It is combat defensive and a pressing offensive fighting style. They are students of the great (hanchi) Sanda Chibana Motobu honey badger, who trained the greatest students in the martial way in all the forest. One of Sanda’s sayings is, When one is small, one can find power, when humble bravery can come and courteous behavior brings one into focus.
Winston and Stephan did not run from a fight but stood their ground. It is called the Stand Your Ground Honey Badger Law. They moved with defensive combative resolve to dismantle any attack. The forest has many mysteries and can be most dangerous. The forest has surprises in it at every turn.
Winston and Stephan were on their way to the deep northern hill country of the brown honey badgers. The tribe of the brown honey badgers has some of the greatest researchers and scholars in all areas of what we call science, technology, medical care, and archaeology. They have a leading university, which covers over five hundred acres and is named the Royal Crimson Honey Badger University of Excellence and Higher Learning.
Stephen and Winston started to run with a natural swagger of deep-rooted conviction as they were on their way to the hill country of the brown honey badger. They were quietly thinking and pondering wisdom that had been imparted to them by some of the wisest honey badgers in the forest. The teaching of these wise honey badgers was mostly empirical in nature. The natural order should follow the paw prints of those who lived in true and pure love.
It was the echo of sage advice, including that spoken by their mom, who was named Honey. She said to them, Fight as a team. A team of great power is precise and fights to win.
She had given advice to them just before they left on this journey. As they left, she had smiled, knowing whatever came their way, they were ready. It was their time of destiny. Her last words to them were, Be vigilant and protect yourselves in all ways at all times.
Chapter 2
THE WAR OF HONEY: THERE WILL BE SWIFT JUSTICE AND HELL TO PAY
Honey was a living legend of courage and terrific fighting skills. When she gave birth to Stephan and Winston, there were ten hyenas stalking her and waiting to take and eat her two sons in front of her very eyes. These hyenas were leading predators and had many skills under their paws. She had just bitten the cord that connected Stephan to her womb when the hyenas came upon her with sudden, extreme viciousness, cowardly murder on their vile minds. They were always seeking innocent blood and did lie in wait with joy. She had a hole with a rock covering and placed the two babies in as much safety as was possible. Every honey badger mom always thinks of protection for their young. Now every hair on her body stood straight, and her claws stretched an extra two inches so far they all bled from the stretching. Her fury was like molten steel and would not have any boundaries. The hyenas chose the time and place; Honey chose the rest. She let out the loud and thunderous tribal cry of honey badger war. This scream was deep and filled with power, shaking the ground around her body with reverberating intensity.
The hyenas tore at her. One grabbed her neck, while another bit her back. She twisted and bit off the nose of the one that had her neck and then bit a large chunk of flesh from its face, finishing by breaking its jaw with an awesome crushing, sharp claw strike. With the hyena on her back, she threw her hips to get the hyena closer and bit its neck, quickly taking its life. The bite was so terrible she broke the hyena’s neck. She then ran at the other seven, screaming at the top of her voice in ancient war cries, which were heard for miles.
Now events were happening fast and furious, and by this time, other honey badgers were coming in full force, one hundred strong. They were the First Battalion Steel Force Royal Recon, the highest of special warfare regiments. They were screaming war cries as great lions roaring with unquenchable fire in their eyes. Their blood was boiling, and one would swear they shook the ground, thundering with every breath they let out.
They were running so fast that they were jumping over one another, as they wanted to be first in the battle. This style of running was tactical and purposeful, encouraging one another in greater and greater bravery. They were yelling to Honey, We will kill all your attackers and rip them limb from limb!
They had no mercy; they were coming as huge, rolling flames of fire like hell were to spill over in an overwhelming flood. The hyenas were going to have to pay with their blood, their broken bones, and yes, their lives. Razor-sharp honey badger justice was in sight, getting closer and closer. The collection of payment was going to be taken by fierce debt collectors. This was a great sight of animals attacking most brutal, totally necessary.
Honey drew tribal strength from this and fought with fantastic viciousness. Her face and body were bleeding; she killed a total of six hyenas. The hundred First Battalion Steel Force Royal Recon warriors could now be seen running. There was dust in the air; it was as if lightning was in each paw that hit the ground. Their screams were getting stronger and stronger. The hyenas were but seconds from the terrible wrath to come.
From the east at a sharp angle, a reinforcement of three hundred hyenas was now in view. The honey badgers got there before the reinforcements and tore the remaining four hyenas to pieces. Honey was trying to stay in the front fighting, but the Steel Force Royal Recon (SFRR) was now in front of her, a few flanking her sides. Then the SFRR threw the dead bodies of the hyenas in the air, calling for more war. This was not professional, not military, but altogether personal.
The hyenas had three hundred strong coming; the leading ten had tried to kill a female honey badger giving birth. The sound of hyena paws striking the ground was heard all around. They were on the warpath. Now the female honey badger that stood against ten had her protectors in view, her personal army, that is, all fully cocked and loaded, finger on the trigger, ready.
All the honey badgers were in full war cries from their guts, screaming with all their fur straight up, charging at the hyenas. The three hundred hyenas had paused; weakness began to touch their legs and flickered in their eyes. As both groups closed the remaining short distance, blood was soon to be drawn. The honey badgers ran face-to-face, ramming and smashing into the hyenas. Biting with huge bites, the honey badgers were ripping fur, flesh, and bones. Their teeth and fangs
