PREFACE
Present time building construction of various types, includes number of intelligent systems integrated together to form one large system resulting in an intelligent building.
Those systems are referred to as ELV systems, Low Current systems (LC), and most recently used term is ICT (Information and Communication Technology) or Technology systems.
It takes the knowledge and effort of coordinated work of all involved engineers, namely Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Communications, and IT/Software Engineer to build such system. The project building block is design, construction, and supervision of such systems. This book addresses the design and supervision parts of building LC Systems.
Based on many years of working experiences in this field, as, client representative, systems integrator, and consultant for multiple of projects in this field, and the encouragement of my colleagues, I compiled this work to be handy tool, and to facilitate engineers in their day-to-day work
The book lies in three chapters, and one appendix, chapter one is dedicate to the process of designing Low Current systems by drawing out a minimum base requirements, chapter two is dedicated for supervision methodology of Low Current systems, chapter three is dedicated for Data Center Commissioning, and an appendix is included at the end of the book and dedicated for test equipment that could be used when testing and commissioning the Low Current system. The book is a description of the practical steps and methods needed by the engineers to design and receive such systems,
This work is based on an actual hands on experiences
Consultant’s, and contractor’s Engineers, as we as engineering students in the electrical, Electronics, and IT engineering could greatly benefit from this book

DESIGN GUIDELINES
AND
CHECKLIST
Design, is a multi-cycle process, Engineers should be prepared to design, review, peer review, edit, present, and redesign, It is a good practice to discuss the design, with a colleague/or ask a colleague to look at your design, take their comments seriously and update the design accordingly before final issuing the design drawings.
Engineers should keep copy of the applicable international standards readily available, update them regularly

1.1 Introduction
Modern buildings are in constant demand on new technologies; they are built to meet the welfare of the environment, the inhabitants, and the landlords of the buildings. Technology systems are the means and tools to meet such demands.
Low Current systems, they are also called ICT systems, Technology Systems, Electronics systems, and Extra Low Voltage systems.
Low Current systems are a combination of Electrical, Electronics, Communication, and Information Technology systems. They can be found working independently or fully integrated
The responsibility of interaction and coordination across different disciplines lies at the hands of LC Systems’ engineers to produce a fully developed design documents to facilitate the construction of such buildings.
The purpose of this document is to give the LC engineers and designers a means to check on the quantity and quality of what is to be delivered before the design documents go out for tendering, this will also unify various Engineers design packages within a given organization
1.2 Phases of a project
Low Current systems are part of a whole project and is consolidated within it, the overall project goes through several stages before the full design package go for tendering and ultimately for construction. LC engineers should be part of each stage of the project. Below are highlights of the project stages
1.2.1 Client Meeting
This is a crucial meeting that takes place between the client and the consultant design team, at this meeting the client spells out his wish list items, i.e. wants and needs. The Low Current systems team will have to translate those needs into systems
1.2.2 Project Kickoff meeting (Internal meeting)
This is an in-house meeting whereby the project manager introduces the project to the design team, and at this meeting Technical spaces allocation is discussed, here the LC designer/project engineer will have to inform everyone (all disciplines) of the LC spaces requirements, followed by a letter to the project manager. At this meeting also the project manager announces the time scale of the project different stages
1.2.3 Preliminary Design Report
Produced by the Technology Systems team as part of the overall preliminary design report and submitted to the client. In this report, the overall concept is explained, the systems to be deployed are indicated, the standards to be followed in the project are listed, and a brief description narration about each system shall be included in the report.
1.2.4 Preliminary Design
The Low Current systems design team produces a set of design document which is regarded as conceptual design drawings, the drawings show location of LC devices, it shows LC spaces and their sizes, and it includes block diagrams showing the various system components and the interconnectivity. The purpose is to give the client a clear and in-depth idea of the design intent.
1.2.5 Design Development
At this stage,
