    Introduction

    Srimad Bhagavad-Gita was recited by Lord Sri Krishna to his disciple Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra (an Indian province) when Arjuna refused to fight a war unjustly raged on him by his princely cousin Duryodhana. It is important for a warrior to respond to challenges, Krishna had told Arjuna. This is your Dharma. Later he explained to him the true meaning of Dharma (religion) and how it should be practiced in life.

    Lord Sri Krishna is believed to be an Avatar (incarnation) of God and is widely worshipped in India. Like Lord Buddha, Christ, Prophet Muhammad, Moses and others, he also led humanity at the time of an intense crisis and established law and order.
