About this ebook
Thomas Lanier
Growing up on the playgrounds and backyards of Huntsville, Alabama, sports were a part of everyday life. Thomas Lanier remembers participating in winning sports programs and having great coaches that taught him how to play at his best. At Lee High School, he was fortunate to be a part of a city and regional championship football team. He was voted team cocaptain and selected second team All-City quarterback. He was also a member of the wrestling and golf programs that competed for city championships. As a walk-on at Auburn University, he was able to play under Hall-of-Famer Pat Dye and be a part of the 1982 Tangerine Bowl and 1984 Sugar Bowl and the SEC Championship team. He was able to compete with great athletes who went on to have outstanding NFL careers. Also while at Auburn, Thomas was the first African American elected into a traditionally all-white Greek fraternity (Delta Chi) in the history of the school, probably in the history of the SEC. He also served as the president of the African American Association. After university, he had the unique opportunity of playing and coaching American football in Europe. He played in five straight championships for clubs in Switzerland and France, winning two national titles. Seeing the lack of fundamentals taught in American football in Europe, he decided to organize training camps in Switzerland and the United States. Soliciting the help of legendary NFL coach Bill Arnsparger and son David, he was able to organize quality camps focusing on the fundamentals of winning, teamwork, and organized training. Within a few years of attending his camps, many teams produced winning seasons for the first time and won national championships. After several work-related moves to various countries, he is currently residing in New York, where he is building his sports and personal training business, One Degree Sports LLC.

DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to the dreamers, positive thinkers, and hard working people who seem to come up just a little bit short every time. People who are trying to succeed and to make a positive difference but continue to get overlooked. People who have to watch others continue to get second and third chances at everything while understanding that if they were given one chance, they would get it right.
This book is dedicated to those who prefer to live and not just exist, to those who believe in a positive way to get things done. I believe that with these methods and practices I will succeed, but if not, then this book is dedicated to those who read and learned to do the opposite, run the other way. Remember, choose your attitude, ask the universe and people, zero excuses, respect others but be yourself, enjoy the moment, see the success, and write your own Unfinished Book of Success.
The pages are waiting.
INTRODUCTION
Recently, I have asked myself many questions concerning success and winning.
What does it take to be a winner? Why are certain people successful while others fail? Why is one picked to play while the other sits on the bench? These questions and more others ruminate daily through my thoughts as I seek answers in the various facets of life.
I watch rescue shows and second chance shows like Yard Crashers, Bar Rescue, Hotel Impossible, Clean House, The Profit, and Shark Tank and how these individuals were chosen make me wonder. Even though they are running their businesses or houses into the ground, yet they get second and third chances with these very expensive makeovers. Out of thousands of possible candidates, these individuals are chosen winners. They must have a winning edge or a secret or perhaps, something that makes them stand out. As I ponder on these things, and though I understand that a lot of it is for show and entertainment, there is but one inevitable question, Why are they chosen? Why them and not many others? Well, there are no shortages of books, seminars, and speakers that can answer that question. I am happy for these set of people, but I simply wonder what makes them a winner, or is failing synonymous to winning?
I attended a free seminar few months ago to listen to speakers explain these very ideas.
