DEDICATION
I dedicate this book to my husband Earl and my daughters Tanisha and Sheena. They are my heart, soul, and inspiration.

Westside Gazette published the following story after Phyllis Hope broke three records with her election to the school board. She was the first women ever elected to District 6. She was the first Black women ever elected to that district and it was the first time that two African American’s sat on the Broward County School Board at the same time. She ran in a majority white district and won.

Obama wins the Democratic nomination today. I am so happy! It seems that a Black man may be President one day. I am glad that I took my 3 grandsons to see him at the Bank Atlantic Center. Over 16,000 people of every race, religion, age and sex. I couldn’t get VIP tickets although I am an elected official. My girlfriend Veda came with me. I was way up and my pictures have Barack Obama looking like and ant. I was still happy that I was there. It was amazing to see. I felt like I was at a concert. He is truly the best candidate.

The Republican convention is over. Monday the first day of the convention was interrupted by Hurricane Gustov. The Republicans talked about donating to storm victims. In my mind I thought it was over the top compensation for the Katrina Disaster. Tuesday brought out the nasty attacks on Barack Obama from Lieberman and Giuliani. But on Wednesday Sarah Palin took the stage. She did very well I must admit. It was a good secret they kept and surprised everyone. She attacked Barack Obama, Michelle, Joe
