About this ebook
Whether in the economically poorest or wealthiest of communities, dealing with issues involving illegal drugs, is to be taken seriously. The bigger the issues, the wider the net needed to stop and/or hinder drug trade, use, and abuse.
Just saying No is not always enough. Reality check show illegal substance abuse and use exists in our own schools and communities. Knowledge and Awareness is key to fighting distribution, sales and use of drugs.
No to drugs requires additional support through positive reinforcement.

DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to trained men and women working with qualified K-9s who risk their lives daily so we may live in a drug-free, comfortable community atmosphere.
Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) should be acknowledged for his effective and visceral poem:
The Power of the Dog
….
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie—
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
….
The above verse is the second of five verses in Rudyard Kipling’s thought-provoking poem. I invite you to utilize your Internet, local library, or bookstore to read the entire creation.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Many thanks to the energetic, devoted, trained canine handlers and project-driven dogs in the Hood County Sheriff’s Department and the Granbury Police Department for the communications and interviews they participated in during the writing of this manuscript. I appreciate their sharing a wealth of knowledge and insight into this dynamic K-9 program.
The Book Doctor, Robyn Conley, was supportive in editing the initial manuscript of K-9 Power. She believed in the book, and her literary doctoring bound by years of experience was really appreciated.
A special thanks to Minnie Browne, a good friend, Granbury resident, and freelance author who provided two extra eyes on my manuscript. Her continual enthusiasm for this book was a source of encouragement while combining fiction and nonfiction.
A ton of thanks to Melissa Barner,
