    Two exceptional youngsters in their obsession with truth and their ever-ready spontaneity, zest for life and questioning minds, teach how easy it is to question what does not appeal to our minds. My futuristic children 21 and 11 year old VK and Aliya.

    Women across borders with their impactful expression and desire for anonymity revealed their fears and pain. They revealed intense and sometimes ugly ground realities of frivolities or rules driving lives of women and men both. For me, all these women are Rock Stars!

    Existing social ideologies and systems for teaching what no book or School could have taught. The paradox of the systems laid down for respectful living of every human being and the forces of opposition that defy the same systems.

    To the women who are unaware that by accepting straight jacket formulas for life and the social definition of women, they have limited themselves from their natural potential and what life has to offer, consciously and /or unconsciously.

The idea of leadership and who a Leader must be is to be accepted, tested and internalized as every Woman’s possibility before it becomes real. Embracing Leadership is directly conditional upon the determination and optimism of women to reach their best potential/fullest expression. The possibility of Leadership lies in developing every bit of this potential through levers of power that can influence the course of events for us. The Heroine and project of the Book is every woman who by optimizing ways to express her mind and self in novel and life giving ways will embrace these personal leverages to Leadership. We will walk past, through and across all mental barriers that surround lives of women.

    Being a lawyer by profession, I have been consumed by the contradictions that we see in what women can be according to law and what they are not or have not been able to become in real life. Their lives are typically overshadowed by social contexts or expectations. Is our experience colored or tainted by social definitions or gender driven vocabulary? For the leadership leverage perspective, I have leaned on the existing Socio- Legal treatise (Constitutions) in every country with an intent to interpret ‘freedom of life and expression’ that is guaranteed to all human beings. The search has been for an interpretation that works for empowering women. It is neither an academic nor a precedent driven interpretation but an iconoclast understanding of the existing and available systems and how they can help in supporting Women’s Leadership!

    Each Constitution in the World guarantees fundamental rights and freedoms to life, equality, respect, dignity, expression and so forth

    ALL OF US QUALIFY!

    Can these rightfully be called tacit and/or proposed social ways of being, in any nation? The above guarantees are expressed through words that are open-ended and can only be lived through experience. The experience, individual or collective gives any meaning at all to them. Their interpretation expands and contracts in direct and relational proportion with all experience.

    We can either experience the most legitimate, meaningful and powerful expression of these or shrink their expression as has been done in social contexts, especially in case of women by imposing absolutism or restriction. The intent of these guarantees must then be achieved, by enlarging the liberality that the words offer.

    The real life understanding of these guarantees is neither part of our general education nor is it a matter of discussion in homes. Chance and random social derivations are the source of social interpretations. Except in subjective legal contexts, these freedoms have not been read into, for purposes of life, human growth and progress.

    How expansively and positively can we live these words? Are these guarantees curbed by social norms? Have these massive words been ignored when it is to do with women? Can these words become real life benchmarks from the Women’s Leadership perspective? Is there a need for deliberate and conscious interpretation of these words vis a vis the PROTAGANIST, the woman herself. Our founding parents likely imagined optimized growth of human potential through these words. By guaranteeing freedom of life and human expression to all human beings irrespective of gender, men and women alike became express beneficiaries.

    Living these words fully to my mind is living true ownership of our experience and de facto freedom of life and expression!

    Law is a very powerful social resource, albeit an underutilized one. A question that has always crossed the mind was, Is law the right resource to lean on for purposes of People Building? Is it possible that the highest instruction in any nation become the benchmark for developing human resource as well? Is there a possibility that law is interpreted for laying down principles of growth and not just as a punitive or reformatory measure? As I read the mammoth words conveying rights and freedoms, they appeared to have their root in universal principles of human growth and achieving human potential providing the widest window for their interpretation? Applied to real life, do these rights and freedoms qualify as the most powerful support system or leverage that any individual can lean on? Are they not clearly and truly directed towards optimizing human potential?

    NUCLEUS© ™ brings this very fresh perspective to imbibe a sense of owning the idea of leadership in Women. In my interactions with women over the last few years, while teaching and coaching on Leadership, Peak Performance, Emotional Intelligence and Motivation, there was a yearning in women to be more and the perceived inability to do so unconsciously living through socially driven definitions of who a woman must be. The definitions were like invisible rules and regulations for a woman’s way of being. Always wanting or falling short, women struggled to express themselves optimally. Digression or deviations meant being at the receiving end of judgment through the social lens. The Book challenges the status quo in the minds of women as an attempt to assist her in crossing over from the gender way of living to growth driven high potential living. Real life strategies and leverages focused on redefining and re-orchestrating empowering alternatives in our thinking and living have been invented.

    So far there have been fights for equality but NUCLEUS©™ is a revelation of EQUITY that we possess within the World and how we must build and live this space. Owning the rights and freedoms as an experience must become the ultimate social leverage. Confused and struggling with how they can express their lives in society’s that are rife with gender issues, this may just be the answer to WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP!

    The BACKGROUND BRAINSTORM

    During a debrief on gender sensitization at one of the Corporate Leadership Workshops at Singapore two years ago, the participants were a mix of men and women leaders in the making of a Fortune 500 company. As is the norm, participants do not get personal but shock ran into the room when two male participants got up to say ‘If they want it all, they better rough it out and take the beating, like we do’. There are Rules to the game, why should women get it easier?

    The women in the room spoke up and shared their perspective about how the workplaces were not designed for them. They had to work like men and often faced hostility. Their elevation and promotion far more difficult even if their performances were good. The assessment of work did not take into consideration difficulties women face. The goodies go to the other side. They continuously fed into the social expectation of being non-confrontational or non-aggressive, lest they be judged as anti-feminine. They went to the extent of accusing their male counterparts of being harsh and harassing and called it Sexism.

    QUESTIONS CROPPED UP THEN. WHAT IS THE FIGHT? WHERE IS THE BOUT? WHERE IS THE RINK? WHY WOULD SOMEONE WANT TO MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR ANOTHER? IS IT JUST COMPETITION? IS IT ALL SEXISM? WHERE AND HOW CAN WOMEN FEEL STRONG ABOUT THEMSELVES? IS THERE A SOLUTION? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN BEING? HOW CAN MEN AND WOMEN BE TOGETHER, WITHOUT HURTING EACH OTHER’S INTEREST AND DIGNITY! WHY ARE WOMEN ON SUCH SHAKY GROUNDS DESPITE DOING SO MUCH? DOES IT NOT HINDER THEIR PERSONAL EXPRESSION OR GROWTH? IS THERE A WAY THIS COULD CHANGE?

    NUCLEUS © ™ was outlined in July 2012. I was at the Lounge at Tokyo Airport jotting some notes. I was reminded of my own daughter and called up home to check on her. My mind went back to the day when I was nose deep researching for the book, with papers, studies and books strewn around. My daughter then 9 years old, found the gaps between the papers and books and toed in for a hug as she got back from School. We had our regular, ‘how was school’ conversation. She sent me into parental interest, then intrigue and then introspection by what she shared. In her School that day, they had a sex education program for girls where they spoke about sexual awareness. I was listening to her intently and she said, if someone touches you or hurts you in your private parts, you must know it is wrong. They were asked to be careful of going online and called pornography dirty videos. They did not say, ‘Do what’!

    She lifted my glasses from my nose and looked straight into my eyes, ‘Mom, All us friends are feeling scared. Anybody could hurt us, right? Can someone hurt me too? I saw fear coming into her. And you know Mom, Suzy told me that her Uncle had hurt her. She has not told her mom, because she is very scared. Can you help Suzy?

    The final framework for the book was laid out with the Publishers in early December 2012. While I was busy drawing up mind maps of my notes, India and the World saw one of the most brutal sexual assaults on women on December 16, 2012. A 23 year old medical student was raped by 7 men inside a bus on a busy road in New Delhi. Her vagina and intestines ripped out, she was thrown on the road naked. We watched the news in horror and saw sexual violence in its worst form. The rape victim passed away a few days later. The news was all over media and it disturbed every right thinking person. Women and Men alike came out on streets in protest, the fear, helplessness and anger obvious. World over, there was rage over the incident.

    The TV blared with the news of the rape and my daughter saw the bewildered look on my face. She came up and asked me, Mama, What is Rape? As I opened my mouth to say what it meant, I fell short of words. How to explain rape to a 9 year old, still developing mind without instilling some kind of fear and affecting the freedom that she lives in her mind, stopped me. I could not explain physical or emotional abuse. I could not tell what forced sex meant. I found myself stuck between informing her as against exposing her to something she did not fully understand. To avoid coloring her mind about the opposite sex or fill it with fear and mistrust, I had to let it go with an incomplete definition of rape and a roundabout explanation similar to the sex education program in her School.

    Law is a very powerful instrument of social change was my first lesson. Men and women are born equal was my second lesson. However, the third lesson came more as an eye-opener as it revealed that the first lesson is underutilized and the second lesson has not been learnt. AS a result, law as it exists is more a rhetoric and less a solution. Even though we are born into an environment of equality, the gender issues and inequality was still rampant in real life, though not so in law books. Equality is not our primary concern here, we refer to it as an anomaly of sorts with laws on equality prevalent in every society.

    Law provides a very broad framework, for people to live their best lives, do their best work, contribute and grow. The very intent of law is to support and protect human life and growth, irrespective of gender. This massive social side of the highest instructing bodies in the World does not discriminate. It only SUPPORTS and PROTECTS!!

    Social systems on the other hand, have defined womanhood or how a woman should be and how a man should be. As women have gained more education and are more employable, newer personal definitions have been added to their repertoire. However, social definitions have remained same. There is the exaggerated version of the market driven society where the woman is an object of display or a relatively softer or weaker person. We can write another book on telling how this is so untrue but the problem is rooted deep. We need to start over in a new way. The law does not prevent us from planting new seeds and there is no law that restrains life or living!

    Clearly there is Leadership Paucity. Gender bias has caused lesser living for women and it must be removed from the concept of life. NUCLEUS© ™ has developed a detailed vision to tap into new thought shifts that could create Women Leaders in two steps, Personal Leadership and graduating to bigger Leadership Roles.

    Childhood has its own charm and is always the best time of life. Women however, did not remember how they were in childhood and almost all of them said that they grew up as they were expected to from their childhood natures. Slowly giving way to conditioned coy, poised and mature presence. Womanlike! My childhood experiences were fascinating. While all coffee table discussions were about problems and how horrible the World was, I sat around weaving connections and new ways to do things. Often ending up a spoilsport in the pastime of cursing the World by presenting simple solutions. I was not welcomed and I wondered why people still lived in problems when they could get out of them. It took time to learn, that they could not see what I could see! What that meant was that, I could see what they could not! Every few days I would have one such EUREKA solution MOMENT!

    One big lesson that was learnt in childhood has stayed till today. ‘WHATEVER ABOUT US IS DIFFERENT OR SPECIAL, MAKES US UNIQUE AND FLOWS NATURALLY FROM US, MUST NEVER BE GIVEN AWAY TO ANY SCRIPT, GENDER OR NO GENDER. FOR THIS PART OF OUR LIFE, OUR GIFT AND UNIQUENESS, NO ONE BUT WE MUST WRITE THE SCRIPT. IT BETTER BE GOOD BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE WE CAN CREATE THE VALUE DIFFERENTIAL. PERIOD!’ AMB

    Innumerable women have unconsciously remained tied into life scripts that do not serve them anymore. The Leadership NUCLEUS ©tm intervention holds promise to sail us out smoothly and successfully so we can re write the life scripts and design of our lives. Searching solutions was not expected of women then. My default setting of solution seeking action often brought me to the forefront almost always by default. Forefront clearly went against the norms. Staying in the background, follow rules and do as expected or as instructed. The unsaid Rule for Women! I have never broken rules, but I confess that I have not followed them either if they did not appeal to my mind. I would argue vociferously, Solutions make their own rules and solutions do not have a gender, do they?

    Three umbrella rules in my mental and emotional space have worked wonders. The Karma Rule i.e. never to harm another person as what goes around comes around. The Personal Growth Rule i.e. continuously educate self about life and keep learning. The Love and Creation Rule i.e. As the protector of evolution, stay devoted to the evolution of family and children. Hereafter, I could follow no more and I failed! By World standards for Women, I can safely be called a Failed Rule Follower. I enjoy engaging in conscious disruptions in the mind space, innovations at work and personal spaces, the search is always on for testing new ways to do things and newer solutions. This methodology has created real life growth insights, leveraging universal development insights, business breakthrough insights applied to life, life insights applied to business. Also, spiritual insights that do not need nirvana 

    I learnt the hard way to laugh at myself and at the vagaries of life as part of my personal expression. Knowing and accepting that we are not infallible, are imperfect and human reduced the harshness that I was expected to place upon myself to look perfect or nice. The expectation to be physically beautiful, practically superhuman and a multifaceted executor, often keeps women on their toes trying to be that. Many have lost themselves in the process.

    Susan’s father had served the army and had rules for everything in their home. She did not mind the rules, until she began working to realize that the rules of business had remained the same but the assessment of work was done through the cultural sex scripts. How are gender expectations relevant in a work environment? Are they more necessary than the job at hand? Gender expectations undermine and erode the very fabric and texture of work and contribution by women. At the source of all application or non- application of these rules, is it not individual understanding and subjective execution of them? Susan is just one of the women who shared her frustration as she got over it, she said, ‘We have Rules of Business, Rules for Women, Rules of Success, Rules of Leadership, Rules of Society, Rules for children and spouse, family, Rules for Self, but Rules for Confusion are not yet public.

    Our Human needs are staring in our faces! We have moved to new levels of human evolvement and higher nature’s. Achieving new milestones, having new expressions, the NEEDS at those levels have to be met in new ways. Presuming we can only go further and not go backwards, women contribute more than they ever have. In all fairness, we have every right to fulfill these needs and we do not need permission for the same. Both men and women live through these needs but the barriers of gender, interfere with the true expression of women and as such blocking human growth. Our very essence is growth! Law, the highest piece of instruction guarantees growth on the one hand. The unsaid rules for women and cultural sex scripts restrict human growth on the other! At the moment all freedom is in the books, i.e. De Jure. Our expressions curtailed, our beings shrunk and laws are laid down but not fully understood. As the means to the end of mental freedom of expression, we must EMERGE TO THE NEEDS: THE NEEDS OF OUR HUMAN SIDE! That would be true ownership and being in De facto freedom.

    The constant conflict between how a woman should be and how the woman is as a human have caused much pain and dilemma to the ordinary woman. The dilemma of social judgment in the woman’s mind and psyche has only got worse with a continuous barrage of information on how she should live into social expectations, at home, at work and on the streets.

    Consciously and unconsciously, countless women have chosen to live less either to fight with or fit in the existing gender bias. Generations of women have resigned to underplaying their capabilities, talents and gifts. Lives and expression of women has been restrained, work devalued, rights and freedoms curbed. The woman that has evolved is a person of diluted restricted EXPRESSIONS, making reduced contributions to the World. WOULD WE ATROPHY IN THE DILUTION?

    On the one hand, we are now seen in every non-traditional role, our expressions are still watched through grossly simulated, conflicting, confusing and opposing ideas about womanhood. Every woman’s expression can only be her own and thrusting a blanket or one size fits all expression is an obvious impossibility. The unsaid and silent exclusion of potent minds housed in women’s bodies has been totally ignored. Is it the responsibility of men, women or both?

    The obvious fact of OWNERSHIP that women have over their life has been overlooked. We are born with equality and now we have to move towards absolute ownership of our individuality and expression as Leaders. Psychology shows our needs and science shows that our mind can create what it wants and can imagine. With these in our kitty becoming Leaders or becoming fully functioning human beings is a certainty that we can look out for.

    As there are NEVER restraints per se on human growth and if we take individual responsibility, we can continue to expand our minds and spaces. We start from incompleteness to completeness moving through various levels of growth to own our true potential. The necessity is to make our growth conscious and voluntary. Being born as women does not make it mandatory for us to live less than we have choices to. We cannot possibly change our gender now and in no way does it mean resignation to a way of being which does not serve our best interest.

    As EVOLVERS or ADAPTERS or a discerned COMBINATION, changing our mental climate will end the thought agitation we live due to gender bias. We have used up our minds, dissipated and exhausted ourselves. Enough energy waste and leakage has been caused. This Mental Exhaustion needs to stop and we need to develop free will to steel ourselves. IF WE COULD GROW INTO GENDER SCRIPTS, WE CAN GROW OUT OF GENDER SCRIPTS TOO. Mind is without measure and the most phenomenal capacities in any human being.

    ‘Being in a female body, does not in any way reduce our minds or disqualify us from living life or freedom and expression. We must walk out of all learned helplessness and create our own selves.’ AMB

    Life is a valuable creation of nature and it is a criminal waste for any life to be wasted. Be it men’s or women’s. Constant struggle uses up women’s efforts fighting, living or navigating the social concept of a woman. Could we have compounded the social way by accepting this concept of the Woman as the checklist for our conduct? In some parts of the
