Shalini Joseph
Shalini Joseph was born in India on September 12, 1962. The oldest of three siblings, she finished her schooling from St. Joseph Convent H. School–Belgaum in India and moved to Bombay to finish her graduation. She graduated in arts from the Bombay University in India and then moved to the Gulf, where she began her career in working, in Dubai in the early eighties. She got married in January 1991 and became a widow in August 2010. She is the mother of three children, one son and two daughters. She loves writing and thinks she has a flair for writing. She can write anytime, anyplace, and at any given moment, and what she writes is very simple to understand and feel. Besides writing, her other favorite pastime is gardening, cooking, and playing scrabble and solving crosswords. She would like to dedicate this book to her late husband, Joseph, and her three children, Stallone, Joann, and Sanan.

One day we said together I love you
Two of us united together in holy matrimony
Three lovely children we have
Four of us now left alone
Five of we were so happy together
Six evil eyes fell on our lovely family together
Seven you are now in heaven resting in peace
Eight I remember the month you passed away
Nine the month we were to travel on a holiday
Ten is the month of your little angel’s birthday and she has missed you and always will
For from 0 – 10 you were my friend, my love, my husband whom I miss very much!
A brighter day
I was hoping for a bright, clear day,
I opened the curtains and what I saw was,
but this morning was drizmal.
It felt so sad to start a day like this so dull and cloudy,
I got out of bed, made a cup of coffee,
sat by the widow watching the droplets on my window pane,
the whole place so foggy,
I kind of felt a twang in my heart,
I looked up at the sky,
I sighed and sent a prayer up,
and as I finished my prayers and opened my eyes,
I found a bright sky, the sun was playing hide and seek,
I smiled, felt happy, for my prayer turned
a drizmal day to a much brighter day!
A burning heart
A strong burning desire from within
All choked up and ready to burst to flames
Ah those strong emotions
have now burst forth like a lava over the earth
bringing out all hearts desires!
A car park
Out of my window from the third floor
I see only a car park,
and way below an open air cafe
called the Shakespeare!
Squeaking and screeching cars
I hear every time I look at the car park
A new face a new car
what a busy place is that!
But down below at Shakespeare
is way different,
Different people of different nationalities
joined together in harmony,
Smoking, sipping on hot coffee
or nibbling at the snacks,
laughing, joking and gossiping they are –
what a lovely place that is
and hoped the world could be the same!
A change? Why?
And you say you want to change
but why?
You are perfectly fine where you are.
For you write excellent poetry as not many can write like you.
You are different; you are one of a kind
So stay there and be the same
Do not change!
When times comes there will be a change in your life
and then you would want another change again,
So please don’t’ change and remain as you are!
And enjoy this time and
