    Norman F. Simms was born in Washington, DC in 1956. In high school, he participated in the basketball and track programs. Simms also attended Art Instructions Schools where he was exposed to a host of mediums such as color pencil, charcoal, ink, acyclic, and oil, just to name a few, for creating drawing and painting.

    Norman graduated from both the Art Instruction Schools and the Eastern High in 1975 and went on to pursue his interest in Fine Art at Murray State University where he received a track scholarship. After two years, Norman returned
