Jerone G. Paul
Jerone Paul was born August 31, 1929 and spent much of her youth in New England. She completed two years of her English Major before marriage. This is her fi rst book although she has published poetry and written travel and nature articles for a local newspaper. She has always been interested in animals and the environment as subjects. Jerone’s fi rst important contact with cats came in1970 when she and her family were camping in Europe. While living in a Volkswagen in a Spanish campground, they adopted seven ferral cats and fed them sardines, bread and milk for months, turning them over to a young Danish couple when they departed. Since moving to Florida, many cats have wandered from the wild into Jerone’s life. Once the household included a family of four felines. Ralph was one of the most memorable. Jerone’s job with the supporting association at Everglades National Park in Homestead,FL helped with the animal life and natural scenes in “Remarkable Ralph”. Jerone and her husband Harry Paul left Homestead area after Hurricane Andrew had devestated the area and now reside in Port St. John, FL with their current cats, Mini and Maxi.

REMARKABLE RALPH
THE CHRISTMAS CAT
Forward
The basic facts in this story are true. Ralph was a real cat. He did disappear on a visit to the Vet and did wander for many months, reappearing on Christmas Eve. Ralph’s owners were delighted to see him but never knew what adventures that he might have had during the time that he was missing. I have attempted to imagine the events that happened during that time. The story is set in south Florida where Ralph lived. It is dedicated to all the unknown, kind people who might have helped Ralph along on his travels and to cat lovers, young and old.

Chuckling to herself, she pictured the spunky little black and white kitten that had been Ralph before he grew large and handsome. She remembered the other night when she had sat in her recliner, the warm weight of Ralph in her lap. Opposite her, Jack had been reading, lamplight shining on his silver –gray hair. He had lowered the paper and looked at her, amused blue eyes above his glasses. I do believe that now the children have grown and gone, you have found yourself a new baby.
She had giggled and hugged the cat to her, stroking the white powder puff chest and running her finger up the white blaze from
