This book is dedicated to Barack Hussein Obama, the proverbial child of promise and a great accomplisher of our time. For taking that bold step that not only starched his name in the annals of history, but also inspiring generations to come to embrace challenges and achieve purpose.
And to my mom—Kehinde Agnes, my pillar—a firm adherent of mine and a fortress I run to when life gets tough. I cherish you beyond words; thank you so much for all the love and sacrifices over the years.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This book in your hand was supposed to be an easy write for me, but funnily enough, I made a mountain of it! A lot of my friends knew I was working on it, and they encouraged me to go on when I felt like quitting. There are so many names, too innumerable to list here, and if you don’t find your name on this page, you must forgive me, but hey, trust me, your names are engraved in the most important place—my heart! And the names I mention are not in any particular order. Some may not have contributed to this book directly, but their impact in my life has given me some moxie to do this and even greater things. Thank you all. Without you, it would have been more difficult, if not impossible.
My dad—Solomon Olasupo Obisesan—I’m prostrating on the floor to say thank you for always challenging me to get results!
Enny McCartney—a lifelong friend closer than a brother. If this were a political campaign, you would have been my David Axelrod! This is your victory, not mine!
Paul Lawrence—another lifelong friend and brother; the book is finally out, and I thank you for your prayers and nudges!
My dear Shegx (Segun Adeyemi)—my Plouffe, you wanted the world to see this, and it’s happened! Your inputs are no small thing to me, bro!
Olujide Ojo—an icon of simplicity who knows that life has to be on purpose. My life turned around for good since I met you. In an ideal world, you would be the one writing self-help, not me!
Wale Adenuga—if only the world knew that you are much more than a dynamic worship leader. Thank you so much for the opportunity you’ve given to me to become better!
Kayode Pitan—Pst Kp, I’m not saying that there are no men more humble and God-fearing than you, it’s just that I’ve not met them! Thank you so much for opening your door to me and making me feel like a member of your huge Tabernacle of David family!
Tonye Cole—I cherish your efforts to empower the youth of Nigeria and your humility baffles me! Thanks for accepting our invitation to be on the pilot copy of our TV show—The Alumni, and for always being accessible!
Lanre Yes—Thanks bro for all the prayers and support!"

INTRODUCTION
A few years back, a slim black senator of the United States with a funny name, barely known, and having a modicum of political experience, declared that he wanted to run for office of the president of the United States in spite of the stack of odds piled against him—it was going to be the biggest joke in the world. He didn’t have all the money and connections, looked like a foreigner, was adjudged politically inexperienced, and a lot of pundits thought it was going to be a mountainous task for him to accomplish—and it was! But to everyone’s surprise, this man persisted and busted into limelight like a supernova with a cataclysmic effect. The euphoria in the United States and the rest of the world was intense as people watched anxiously to see if this fairy tale was going to have a happy ending. But eventually to everyone’s consternation, this ambitious breed from Hawaii steamrolled the obstacles on his way and won the election convincingly on November 4, 2008, and was gallantly ushered into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on January 20, 2009. I know that may be the stalest news you’ve ever heard, but just wait a minute before you get busy—I thought there are some records we need to straighten from the account that made Barack Obama president in 2009. If we can still learn from Abraham Lincoln’s try-and-fail episodes that eventually made him president, then why can’t we learn from what just happened before our very eyes; after all, none of us was born when Abraham Lincoln was making his attempts!
The OBAMA
in YOU! is not written to bamboozle you with the feats of Barack Obama—it’s composed for ordinary
people like me who are still brewing some ideas and can’t figure out how to go about it—folks who don’t know how to take their wildest fantasies to become as vivid as the book before you. It takes you on a journey of a dreamer who knew that his dream was weird and huge, but could be achieved through ingredients I will share in this book. It shows you how to achieve your dreams with the precision of a successful political campaign. I wrote this book because after the 2008 election, when President Obama settled into the White House to start confronting issues, I thought, Wait a minute, this guy just pulled off an incredible feat, and folks have started seeing it as a normal thing! Only months back, early polls indicated that he was unknown to many voters, and today he’s the
